i gotta say I agree, I was at first excited for raw video but after finding out about the inconvenience of the 45 mb/s... I wish other smaller things were implemented instead.

For example, with the current state of ML for the 70D for video I mainly use ML for the focus dots/peaking, however if I want to see audio levels I have to sacrifice this

have you checked the diopter setting on your VF?

@maitimaus, This is largely speculation and I do not feel like finding out if this is how ML is on other cameras but, I think its a safe bet to say that... When shooting RAW the digital ISO's are disabled so we are left with the actual ISO's as options only. Also any iso inbetween exposure 'changes' you see in camera could be considered just live view simulation?

I was going to wait and let someone else answer but since no one has, maybe someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

the arrow/set buttons work great now, also if you select multiple options you can cycle through the modes however if you select all the options it kind of gets visually buggy, but selecting 2 options works great. thanks for the update :) (on version B)

doesnt work in photo live view for me at all

works with af button only as far as i can tell

@Smarty Pants,

To start to answer your questions I feel it necessary to correct a problem with your selecting of shutter speed. The rule of thumb for shutter speed is double the reciprocal. So for 30 fps the shutter speed would be 1/60. For 25fps the shutter speed would be 1/50 (or closest available option on camera). This is why the 70D shutter will not go under 1/30 in movie mode, not because of a NTSC design (although I can't say for sure the camera is or is not geared toward NTSC)

I also believe, youtube previously converted basically anything that was not 30fps to 30fps itself

As for your actual question,
I believe it is mostly personal preference, if you shoot all your stuff at 25fps you would be able to put your stuff on DVD's and stuff in PAL land and get a almost filmic look on youtube. I believe.

It's mostly a matter of preference as far as I know. After all films are/were typically 24fps but eventually ended up on TV's and other mediums so they ended up being turned into 30fps and look fine so it would be acceptable for you to do the same. However, if you find this 'style', 'jitter', or what not bothers you then technically your best bet is likely 30fps for youtube, even in PAL land, as far as I know.

You should edit and export at whatever framerate you shoot at for youtube. However, you should de-interlace if you happen to be using an interlaced camera (not in the 70D case).

This page will help you.

(Also if the camera is shooting at 29.97, 24.97, or 23.976, you should not round these frame rates off as you will slowly build an audio desync)

Also should discuss this else where as has hardly anything to do with magic lantern in any way

I confirm that using the thumbnail works for me.

Through my testing I also discovered if you are booting the camera into photo mode and have your set button programmed to "iso" or "flash exposure compensation" then ML will not be disabled, if you have the button set to any of the other canon features then it will successfully disable ML

If set to "flash exposure compensation" and booting to video mode ML can be disabled.

If set to "ISO", ML cannot be disabled

This may explain misleading reports as well as the meaty finger issue

Personally I don't care if the set button doesn't disable ML on boot or not however, it still pays to figure out why it isn't working because other things may not work for the same reason (push white balance with set button)

Bug Report: Alpha5b Version (Most recent release on most recently supported camera)

MLV DNG Files
DNG file sequences extracted from MLV files do not open in any adobe program, error is "module could not parse file", Raw works, MLRawviewer allows export as .mov which works.

Red Dead Pixel
Stuck red pixel (same place) in all raw video above about 400 iso, it gets more noticeable as iso increases, may even be there but hard to see at 100 iso. Pixel is not in non raw video

Arrow Key Functions
Setting the arrow and set keys to do anything (kelvin/iso + white balance or brightness/saturation +reset) does not function. I attempted changing my keys to set to nothing, however i did not try setting to default or turning off the camera after i changed the settings so if they are working for someone else please tell me what your canon setting is and i will attempt.

Audio Bars
Audio bars are only visible if global draw is turned off, no menu option to turn them on

Movie Servo
There is a icon in the lower left of the screen when movie servo is turned on (in vanilla firmware) that is gone and was quite useful to switch between auto and manual focus without having to flick the lens switch during and before recording

Raw Video Recording
Exposure settings cannot be changed when recording raw video, is this a bug or a nuance?

also this is prob not the place to write this one but it would be super useful if all camera settings (iso/framerate/fstop/shutter/whitebal etc.) could be written to a single frame in raw video, or just even a log like is possible for h264 video]

also my set button previously would disable ML but no longer does this function either

I also wish the ML menu would open to the favorites menu or last place I was in after a restart
