Hello ML,

    I'm fixing bad pixels using pixel maps on MLV App for 5.7K Canon 5D Mark III footage. However, I cannot figure out how to zoom really far to see individual pixels. I can only zoom 100%. I'm using Windows 10 on a PC. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Revision: I figured it out. I zoomed to 100% and then used the scroll on my mouse. Sorry for the hassle.

Also I can't set Avatar by URL link, after I put the link and save changes, a message appear settings updated but actually nothing has updated, and URL box will still empty.

Did you find a solution to this theBilalFakhouri? My profile picture is gone and I can't seem to create an avatar by URL link... Thanks.

Hello Walter,

     Thank you for your quick reply. I'm trying to figure out how to record to the CF card and SD card at the same time with the SD card overclock. I'm sorry if this has been answered already on the forum. I haven't found an answer. Basically I enabled 160 Mhz but only MLV files are recorded to the CF card. There are tutorials for the EOS M online, but I cannot find info for the 5D Mark III. If someone can type any sort of directions on how to proceed that would be great. Thanks.

Hello theBilalFakhouri,

     I'm using the April 1st, 2021 build from Danne for the Canon 5D Mark III found here: https://bitbucket.org/Dannephoto/magic-lantern_dannephoto_git/downloads/

     I'm using Firmware Version 1.2.3.

     I've tested Force HDMI-VGA and it works fine. It's useful for shooting higher frame rates where I just want to get accurate framing. I have 2 monitors that also have a force HDMI-VGA option on them.

     I would suggest trying different hdmi cables, different builds, and different monitors. Try the HDMI-VGA option on a monitor if you can.

     Different hdmi cables have helped me in the past. Some work better than others, especially when you watch the footage to see if there is tearing or dropped frames.

     Thank you for the quick response. Recording seems stable. I'm not using fps override and still am not able to playback sound with H.264 proxies. Actually, sound plays back for a second and then cuts out. I'm just hoping to find a way to playback sound throughout the entire clip.

Hello ML Community,

     I'm planning on going to my local skatepark and filming some skaters with a fisheye lens. I really would like to record 50 fps raw video, however I cannot find a way to playback sound for skaters to view. I'm currently using Danne's Build from December 11th, 2020. I've tried MLV playback and H.264 proxies. The only other way I can think of is to use my Zoom H6 audio recorder or my Iphone. To my knowledge, recording to an external recorder wouldn't work either because this camera doesn't output sound through clean HDMI. Any help on this would be great. Thank you.

     I don't think it's the picture profile honestly because I chose Cinelog-C in Adobe Camera Raw. I first exported a DNG Sequence from MLV App, then chose Cinelog-C. I'll see if I can do more tests. The ISO is 1600, but to my understanding that ISO value is safe to use with the Canon 5D Mark III. Any more details on fixing Cyan? Where is the fix for banding? I tried the most recent 10 bit/ 12 bit Raw build from the ML Experiments Page. Same issue. I can try the nightly builds but recording in 10 bit is really important to me since I can get continuous raw recording, which is important for filming skateboarders. Don't want the recording to stop in the middle of a trick. I think is 4:3 is better (more resolution, wider) with 1080p 30fps, I'll have to test that out, but I don't think it's continuous... More fps is better for capturing skateboarding tricks.

    Yes the problem is the two dots in the red ellipse. What's odd is there is a horizontal banding line where those two dots show up. As well as vertical banding lines. I don't remember seeing the lines before, but I have seen the dots. Bad pixels? Not sure the best way to fix this except for pixel maps which I'm not too familiar with. I have done it in the past. I thought this was an issue with the Canon 5D Mark III I have, but it's happening with both cameras. It's possible if I use the newer high quality 50fps preset that this issue won't be there, but in that mode I won't achieve continuous recording, to my knowledge.

    You're absolutely right, sorry for my negligence. It's been a while since I've posted here. The reason I included the video in my room is because I know the issue shows there. But yes, I probably should've shown the issue not in a messy room.     It's a bit difficult showing the exact issue, since there are multiple faint horizontal and vertical lines, but in the 4 seconds of the MLV there is a horizontal line you can see.

    In this 300% cropped image, where the white wood is next to the window, there are a few black pixels, and this is where the horizontal line comes across:

Hello ML Community,

    Below are two clips filmed from two different Canon 5D Mark III's.

    I'm having an issue which involves horizontal and vertical lines showing up in the video. These were shot in 4:3 aspect ratio at 50fps in Magic Lantern Raw Video with 10 Bit Lossless with Alter Bit Depth set to 10 bit. Sound is auto, no mic attached. I used an external monitor, and didn't use fps override. The Build is:

    I've tried not using the external monitor, tried 23.976fps, and different MLV App settings as well as all MLV App settings turned off. I've even tried Batch MLV App. I'm using Cinelog-C in Adobe Camera Raw and SmartImport2 Script with After Effects. Clips are ProRes 4444 XQ. All software is up to date.

    I tried using Neat Video V5 but it made the clips look worse...

    I honestly am boggled as to what is going on. It's possible it's a build issue, but I'm hoping there's something I'm missing that someone can point out. I'm hoping to film some skateboarders soon, so I'm doing all the preparations I can in time for when it's warm out.

     There's an odd spot between 23 seconds and 24 seconds of this clip. I've noticed it some of my footage. It might be sensor dust but I'm not sure. Is there anyway someone can take a look? The reason I'm posting it the same topic is it could be an artifact. Any help would be great. Thank you.

    Ok I understand. I'm hoping this new way will avoid the artifacts. I will report back if the artifacts are in the clips or not. Will record at ISO 1600 and not crop mode. If I get a chance, I'll try recording 14 bit as well as 12 bit lossless for the same scene. I might try 14 bit lossless too since 14 bit does take a lot of card space.

Hey Danne,

    I did some tests today but couldn't replicate the artifacts. I saw 3-4 dead pixels when recording all bit depths and even with vertical band fixing on there were still vertical bands. I think it's best to apply vertical bands correction only on clips that need it (unless there is a setting I don't know about). The dead pixels were there even though I had Bad Pixel Fix on and Aggressive. However, after my tests I read your recent response. I was using Crop Rec Module and Raw Video. Only using the Raw Video Tab, 3.5K raw is still possible with 1.63 crop. When turning off Crop Rec Module and just using the Raw Video Tab, I was able to record 10 bit lossless for a long time. 12 bit lossless wasn't as long as a record time as I had on the Experimental Build July 22nd on the Experimental Builds page. So, for my next testing, I am going to record 14 bit at 2:35.1 (1920x818), then when shooting 3.5K, will still use 2:35.1 (3520x1320) but with 10 bit lossless. I will report back here with the results. Hoping to work around this issue! Any additional feedback would be great. Thanks.

     Forgot to mention I only recorded in 12 bit lossless, and forgot to test 14 bit. I'm going to take pictures of all of the settings and provide an MLV, DNG Sequence, and XQ file. I'm using MLV App. The only adjustments I'll use are Cinelog-C and lens vignette correction. I won't touch any settings in MLV App. The DNG sequence will be lossless. I'll post here when I have the files ready.

Hello everyone,

    I'm currently using Danne's October 15th Build: crop_rec_4k_mlv_snd_isogain_1x3_presets_2019Oct15.5D3113.zip found on this page: https://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=23041.msg216899#msg216899

    I filmed at a park in Delaware on Monday 10-28-2019. I decided to record in ISO 1600 with an nd filter on (SLR Magic Variable ND MK2). Last weekend I went to a park in Pennsylvania and shot at ISO 100 with Danne's build, and got no artifacts/dead pixels/focus dots (whatever these artifacts are). No artifacts at all, a few clips had vertical bands.

    When I shot at ISO 1600 in Delaware, I now have artifacts in my videos, and even though I had 3.5K module enabled with 23.976fps override at 2:35.1, only 1920x818 was recorded when I used 5x crop. When I shot at ISO 100 I didn't have this issue. At ISO 1600, I did still get vertical bands on a few clips (both ISO 100 and 1600 I have had vertical bands on a few clips).

    So, I've tested the artifacts issue on 3 different days/shoots. I've found ISO 1600 1920 x 818 (no x5 crop) is where the issue occurs. What can I do to figure out this issue? Is it possible to share an MLV that has this issue and for someone to take a look? If I take pictures of all my settings, is there something I need to look for or maybe someone can take a look? I'm worried my camera might have an issue, but am not sure how to tell. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
