Raw Video Postprocessing / Re: MLVFS windows client
January 19, 2016, 07:35:46 PM
I've installed the files pfm-178-win-exe and mlvf.dll and put them in one and the same folder. From the thread I learned that the v.1.7.8 is more stable for my win 7.

Might be a stupid question, but how exactly do I carry out the following step:

QuoteThen register the MLV formatter DLL:
Code: [Select]
pfm register mlvfs.dll
Unlike the FUSE approach on the other platforms, you mount each MLV file individually: right-click on an MLV file and select "Quick Mount".
If you wish, you can build the MLV formatter DLL yourself by installing the Windows SDK and running nmake using the SDK command prompt in the mlvfs/win directory.

Post-processing Workflow / Dual iso for MLV
January 19, 2016, 06:18:29 PM
I've noticed that I get to much noise in my footages that are filmed in low light due to the lack of light here in the cold winter in Sweden. :D
A solution that I came across here is using dual iso. However, I have tried to download, install and use several plugin but haven't succeeded in post-editing my dual iso footage. There are plenty of bugs and complications.

The workflow I use is converting my MLV to cDNG using raw2cdng 1.6.5. For there I don't know how to edit my dual iso footage. I use win 7 on a 5d3 firmware 1.1.3.
I use Lr, then AE and for cutting/editing I use Pr in the end of my workflow. I need to edit dual iso on thousands of DNG images not a few RAW images.

Is there a way to have the rule of third grid (or any other of the cropmarks from ML) remain on during REC?
It disappears after having pressed at REC.

Exist a new version of Pismo,  v. 178 for download

http://www.pismotechnic.com/download/

I can't open the site; page can't be displayed (it turns blank).
Any direct link to download the v.178?

Never mind got it now.  :D

I'm trying to install the plugin via lightroom plugin manager but the program fails to find the plugin with the extension .lrplugin

When I check the downloaded folder I don't find any file with .lrplugin

If you are having problems importing the spanning file .mlv+M00 etc...
You can always join the file yourself on the Command line with simple dos commands
Go to the windows start window and type "cmd"
    Start dialog: cmd
    1. cd C:\Users\my_destination_folder
    2. copy /B xyz.MLV+xyz.R00+xyz.R01 xyz.MLV
where "xyz.MLV" is the new join file

I used to do this before all the extractors did automatically with .raw or .mlv

mean that in my case I should type :
copy /B xyz.MLV+xyz.M00+xyz.M01+xyz.M02+xyz.M03 xyz.MLV   ?

HI,

When I try to import my MLV file into mlvp.alpha.build2127.zip
I get the following pop up error directly:
out of memory frame cache has been disabled.

How do I transfer the second one (M00) in mlrawviewer?
My .MLV file has M00 M01 M02 M03 associated to it.
Don't I simply open the .mlv file inside the software and the export (as long as the M-files are in the same directory as that of the .MLV)?

As for the provided link it seems that that software does not export to cinemaDNG which I have to get for my files to be edited in Pr CC 2015 as it accepts their import natively.

Hi,

Im using mlrawviewer 1.4.3 and from the software I can see that I am supposed to get 4920 DNG images in the final export while I only get .
It is very frustrating...  >:(

I get the following pop up error while the export is around 85%:

Runtime error!
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way...

The software used to work fine but not any longer :(

Thanks chmee ;)

Hi

Whwn I open the mlrawviewer and check the number of frames compared to raw2cdng I notice that many frames are missing after export in raw2cdng compared to mlrawviewer. I use both raw2cdng version 1.7.4 and 1.6.5.
Does this mean that I am getting drop frames in raw2cdng?

thanks  :)

Om the ML menu or canon 53?

Hi, how to I use a Cf card and an Sd card at once to increase the mb/s capacity från 100mb/s (with only Cf card) to 100+20mb/s while filmning raw with both cards in the slot?
On which card is ML installed?
#169
Is there any version ofraw2cdng that converts MLV to cDNG without any corrupt frames.
I use version 1.6.5 and 1.7.4. Which one is best for you folks?

Interesting subject. What's your budget? That's the main thing i guess. What CPU are you using with your motherboard, not that I would recommend changing that anyways, hopefully it's a i7 anyways.

The graphicscard i guess it's a bit of an issue. GTX 760 with 2gb vram for grades and nodes isn't overkill. I sould defenitely say that SSD's like Samsung EVO or Pro 850 in Raid 0 is way overkill. One big like 1-2tb is enough. But shure you get higher reading write and read speed but that's not crucial. I say that the Premiere Pro with CDNG files is an issue and that your GPU aswell is an issue. Have you tried Davinci Resolve?

My budget is around 600 euros for SSDs, GPU and RAM memory uppgrade; that is around 200 euros for each of these upgrades. Yes I use i7 processor (6 core) and 16 GB RAM (upgradable to 32 GB).
I am using a Asus GeForce GTX 760 but I can add another graphic card to my MSI Z87-G45 motherboard.

I tried uploading davinci resolve but found it very hard to find use and no tutorial to help me use the databse (media storage) properly. FOr isntance, I wanted to use davinci only for rendering since many claim that it is better than Pr/AE. I created an XML proect file from my finished Pr project file and imported it into davinci 11. However, it didn't open all the associated files. Don't know what the problem is and looked for solution on the internet without any result. Hence, I uninstalled the software and using Pr CC2015 (with imports and supports cDNG natively).

Hi,
According to the chart we can use a CF and SD card at once for 5d3, 100+20 mB. How is that possible. I tried inslatting ML on the SD card while having Cf card as well inside but the raw recording is limited to that of the SD card. Isn't the ML supposed to be installed on the SD card?

My aim is to use two cards to boost the speed capacity instead of getting dropframes or other issues with a single Cf-card.

have you enabled adobe mercury playback engine for GTX 760 ?

Yes I have.

Only the GPU. But, gor for something faster than 760.
770, 780... 970...

If I change my GPU then I'll have to buy two GPUs. I've learned that using two with bridge is the best thing to do. I can't use two different models, they have to be identical.

Raw Video Postprocessing / Optimize my hardware
December 15, 2015, 05:47:10 PM
HI,

I have a PC desktop and want to optimize it for two aims: 1) Optimize Pr CC 2015 while working with cDNG files; 2) Decrease the render time

My motherboard (Z87-G45) allows me to double RAM memory (from my currently 16 GB to 32GB), create raid 0 (with several SSD disks), add a graphic card (an extra Asus GeForce GTX 760) with bridge.

Due to my limited budget I need to prioritize on optimizing the Pr CC so that the software don't freeze which it does while editing 10-15 min long cDNG videos. I want to remove this problem. Therefore, my question is what should I optimize for this aim? :)
#174
I'm using PC.

I've used H.264 at 20Mbps at yet the picture quality has decreased (making it darker than my original DNG sequences).

Can I use an alternative youtube-friendly codec to maintain better image quality ?
#175
Hi,

I have edited a 14 min long video (cDNGs footage) in Pr CC 2015. I used the DnxHD codec 444 1080p 24fps for the rendering using Media Encoder CC 2015. It took almost 8 hours for the render to complete. I tried uploading it to youtube and it failed to be processed.

What codecs are the best to use for rendering bearing in mind that I want to preserve most quality as possible.

Thanks in advance
