Of course it depends on values used but some example would be nice. Like take 1/20 sec picture every 30 sec, liveview powersave is stby+rec, lcd off 5 sec. Any one tested? Or what's the longest time span one has covered with regular intervalometer and the other with silent picture ivm?

Are these still up to date/going to be used? At least there's differences in these and nightly Aug 1st so I'm not sure whether this is right place to give feedback...

Could you add a note to powersave section: "Note: Disable powersave from Canon menu because it overrides these".

edit: Oh and guides for section "Powersave in liveview" needs some fixing, like:
- In "Enable powersave" reads "(see above)" which is pointless at least for the end user - or then I'm missing something, whats above?
-> Rewrite: "Choose when powersave kicks in" or such.
- Should "Use shortcut key" be renamed to "powersave key/shortcut" or such?
- "Dim display": the "when idle" is kinda confusing. I mixed idling with standby for a long time.
- "Turn of LCD" says "when idle and not rec". "Not rec" is false information if you have chose on "stby+rec". Delete that?

- "Config preset: Create different presets of menu configurations." Hard to catch. I mean how I actually make another config file?
- "Restore ML defaults: Use this to restore ML default settings. After deleting the config file, restart the camera." It's a bit confusing when one  first speaks about "restore" and then about "delete". Could the latter sentence be "Restart the camera afterwards"?

Hello!
I'm losing some image unique id's when importing images with Bridge. Have any one experienced similar issues? I haven't actually tested any other software yet, gotta do that tomorrow. Anyways, seems like id's are ok on card but after the import some are lost. It's bad especially on panoramas as then one must manually check & rename the first frame to be able perceive which belong to which.

5d2, Sandisk extreme cf's, Adobe CS5. This has been the situation at least ten months now. I recall it worked fine back in non-ML days.

Yes please. For example on 5d2 column "record time at 16:9, 24p, no crop" column it says 1856*1004 which isn't actually 16:9 (1.78:1) but 1.85:1. Maybe also fill in which card was used as there might be differences?

With the current build for the 5D2 that is dated aug 9 compiled by a.d.

Highest continuous recording is at
1880 x 940 2:1 = record till your CF card is full (64gig around 15 minutes)

Highest 16:9 continuous recording is at
1728 x 972 = record till your CF card is full (64gig around 15 minutes)

Highest 16:9 continuous recording in crop mode is at
1856 x 1044 = record till your CF card is full (64gig around 15 minutes)

What's the difference in the last two? I mean they both are cropped, right?

I think I read somewhere that even on h264 1920 px material is upscaled from 1880 or 1872 or 1856 px sensor output, right? The spreadsheat also states same on the same 5d2 column "record time at 16:9, 24p, no crop" as it reads 1856*1004.

With the 128gig, you can run up to 29 minutes already since raw video already bypassed the 4gig limit by spanning, passing 70 gig mark the cameras already start to smell funny! I know those are the smell of chips already heating up.

I have shot h264 on a 5d2 almost continuously for about one hour. I've done that four times, I think three out of four it didn't overheat, once did. If camera overheats you will see a notice on lcd and camera will shutdown automatically. Wait a moment and restart the camera. From my experience overheating comes quicker on a 7d than on a 5d2, don't know why (similar cards and in same space, same time). So I think you don't need to worry about breaking the camera.

Imo this topic lacks one important thing: Basic explanation about raw video. What it is? Why to choose? Pros & cons. Could this thread be started with that so it would fullfill the title "Beginners guide". I just across this term by accident and have no idea about this whole thing nor can find simple explanation, all threads seems to go directly to installation and how to shoot rather than speaking about what/why/why not.

Raw video pros:
- "loseless" white balance adjustment (and everything else what adjustable for raw still) in post processing
-> basicly easier color adjustments (especially if you coming from raw photography to dslr video)
- custom resolutions (for example for 5d2 you can now get 1280x720). Is this done with/without cropping the sensor output ie. doesn't change FOV (I hope the first)?

cons:
- slower workflow/more steps (shoot, combine raw video files, extract raw video file to dng's, make adjustments, extract raw to jpg [which probably takes quite long time], make video file from jpg's, then it's finally ready for edit)
-> so shoot raw video only if you know you really need higher quality and can really afford all the hazzle and time compsuption

- file space consumption is N times greater, how much? normal canon 1080i 12 minutes = 4 gb, raw 1080i about how much?
- sound is recorded yes/no?

I'm not 100 % sure about audio, is it always 48 khz. I uploaded a video with 44.1 khz audio (promoting new music, track from album, not making a music video) and tried recognize is it converted but I cannot say for sure as the difference is small – still it makes a big difference for songs as pitch changes a bit, makes it kinda out of tune. Have some body done testing or got written answer from Google?

For me it's around 172–180 degrees.

Your camera will shutdown automatically and gives you notice about it (it's says like "stop the darn too long video mate, you know it's maybe decent but not the best in the world!") if it becomes too hot. I have experienced it once after shooting video in one run for around two hours. I have done the same case few times without overheating. 7D might be a bit more prone for this issue, as it had this issue from first time. This was done before Magic lantern worked on 5d2 but it suppose it works exactly same as canon FW isn't touched.

I usually use LV display (found in Expo tab) 'Photo, Expo sim' as I mainly take photographs and want all shutter speeds. If I have selected that mode and start recording movie (even in M mode) exposure varies by scene, so it's actually not manual exposure anymore. Could this be fixed some how, maybe by automatically changing LV display to 'movie' when recording starts and back to previous mode when recording ends?

It's a bit strange behaviour because it work as supposed in standby (exposure follows manual controls) but when recording movies, exposure becomes automatic.

I think it would be useful to be able to adjust audio meter's peak hold time. For example if you're shooting yourself with integrated microphone and cannot see the screen while testing the mic volume, with ~15 second peak hold one would have enought time to go to see the meters from  the screen. Maybe it could have few options like 0.1, 1, 2, 5, 10, 15, 30 seconds (or fully adjustable)? I would quess this quite easily to do, but am I wrong?

I'd love to have 720 on 5d2 with the standard frame rates. From time to it's just useless to have fullhd, sometimes it would be better to spare some space on the card but still have better resolution than 640.
