General Chat / Re: New 5D S and R version

Was expecting at least 1080p@60fps video. What a disappointment!  :(

Is FRSP on nightly builds for 1.1.3.? Or did you compile yourself?

I usually fill up my two 64GB cards on a single shoot, which is roughly 12min video each.
Copying to PC usually takes 30mins each = 1hour.
Converting to dng takes 2 hours. I use raw 1.0 and raw2dng ( Most stable. No issues at all.) I use batch renamer to rename folders and dngs inside. This can be skipped.
Basic adjustments WB, exposure, saturation. Resolve. BMD film - 1hour.
Export to DNxHD takes around 2 hours.

6 hours for 128gb footage which is roughly 24min video.

All shots were made using Magic Lantern Raw 1.0 on 5D Mark III.
All time lapses were shot on Canon 600D (modules mostly used FRSP, Intervalometer)

Thanks Chmee,
will wait for the version of raw2cdng with fixes applied.
#57
Hi Chmee,

I've sent the DNGs to your e-mail. Hope this will help.

Hi Chmee,

Thanks for you reply,

I did tests just after you've released 1.6.5 but didn't keep the dngs. Vertical banding difference was mainly noticeable in night shots in dark areas. Could you not apply Alex's vertical banding fix algorithm? Also when I convert using 12bit maximized camera raw doesn't open dngs. Howerver it opens dngs converted 16bit and 16bit maximized.

I read somewhere in the forum (can not find it now) that raw2dng applies 2x2 chroma smoothing but may be that was a wrong info. I will give a try to the one with enable cs. Thanks for the link, I read that thread many time but never thought to try because I thought it was only for (650D, 700D, EOS-M) :)

Hi All,

Does anybody know where can I get raw2dng.exe (windows executable) without chroma smoothing. I'm aware raw2dng.exe applies 2x2 smoothing. 2x2 chroma smoothing is really good but in some shots where background is clear sky and my subject is far away (e.g. Parachutist, or hot air balloon) I see some pixellation on edges of my subject.
I shoot only RAW 1.0 because it is 100% reliable where MLV is 95%ish in my experience, that is with my cards/settings/firmware version etc. I tried different converters including latest raw2cdng 1.6.5 but I'm not happy with vertical stripes correction, not as perfect as raw2dng.exe.

Thanks you in advance.

Do you have a link where they claim that the 12bit DNG has more latitude ?
Maybe they mean that the sensor in their camera has better dynamic range, which results in more latitude  :-\

What I meant is BMCC claims to have only 12bit DNG but from the DNG samples I've seen on below link, they are far superior compared to my 5D Mark III in terms of color:

https://fstoppers.com/video/black-magic-releases-raw-files-cinema-camera-you-color-grade-5442

Also on this link EOSHD quoted that BMCC has a bit more latitude

I also would like to know why BMCC DNG claims to be only 12bit vs Magic Lantern 14bit and have more latitude than ML RAW?
Can anyone shed some light?

Raw Video Postprocessing / Re: choppy resuts

If you've shot and rendered using same fps, then most probably it's because moving objects were to fast for 25fps if any or panning was to fast if you did any. I've given up shooting with 24/25 because of these issues.

General Help Q&A / Re: New Stable Release?
September 25, 2014, 02:26:57 PM
I kinda agree with what kbeecher is trying to say. If you look at money as the measure of time... More Devs spending night hours/spare time or few Devs working full time.
We, end users, just want this project alive. I bought my second cam 5D Mark III just because of ML. Would I buy it if it didn't support ML? No.
#65
Hi Guys, on google docs document max res for 30p continituous rec on 5D Mark III says 1920x1080. I could only get 1792x1008 on my Sandisk 160mb CF card. Could those who could get 1920x1080@30fps advise which card has been used?

Hi All,
I've searched the forum (and also found 46 min youtube video) on how to compile ML features.... but it seems very complicated for me. Can anybody please help to compile this for 600D or 5D Mark III?
#69
I had the same and took me awhile until I did some research on the forum. You don't have to convert to MLV. Use the latest version of RAW2DNG. See this thread:

Which one do you think is more reliable MLV or RAW 1.0?

Do you mean it is good to use ML RAW or it isn't? I just can't seem to catch the point from above message.

Really like the camera movements! Very smooth! What equipment did you use?
