Tragic Lantern / Re: Tragic Lantern for EOS M

I can try it. In my experience messing with the flush rate or gop makes sound out of sync or stop. On 6D the story is different.

I've also gotten the box on EOSM. It seemed to run what I chose though.
#53
It does load/run with the 8char name too. interestingly I don't get a choice box if both firs are in root.

QuoteBut there is a big difference between a leisure/week-end warrior shoot and a pro or semi-pro shoot.

Yep... but not everyone who shot with the other CF cams was a weekend warrior as you imply. There were and are people using DSLRs even in H264 to crank things out and getting paid. 5DIII isn't the be-all end all. Who would chose a $4k camera to destroy when they can just wreck a $400 50D... both do 1080P.

Quoteif the post pipeline was only stronger

This is the time for the community to shine too. I can see not everyone being into camera fw hacking but I'm sure there are quite a few coders who can do windows/mac and image manipulation. Its a fairly different skill set. Red had to fix the workflow or they wouldn't sell cameras. Here you already have people who bought the hardware and are just getting a very nice extra for free.

I've seen some kick ass 50D/7D stuff on here and they are sub $1000. They easily do anamorphic 2k. People that already have 5DIIs can get new use out of them too. ML-raw does lower the cost of entry quite a bit if people actually knew about it. 1Dx/C100/etc are all in a similar price range, 5DIII and BM are slightly cheaper only.

Renting red or arri is what? $700-1000 a day? If you have a budget and already paying for a union crew + just want to get done....

#56
Yep, have to see what is in it. Doesn't look like much has changed on the surface.
#57
There is also the matter of nobody knowing DSLRs shoot raw or thinking its 5DIII only. But then eyes glaze over from the C100 and its digitally pushed ISO 80k. The premiere CC neutering isn't helping things either, don't know how good support is in FCP. The price barrier for raw is actually pretty low now, a 50D is much cheaper than BMCC. As a primary camera though DSLRs are pretty sketchy in a larger production.

there is an installer for 113 now. it booted up on my cam so no need to downgrade anymore.... until 114

QuoteBut the reality of the situation is that ML exists on borrowed time and in about two years' time nobody will want to shoot video on DSLR's

I'm more in line with the thinking that you'll be able to rent or even buy something that shoots 4K, albeit in 4:2:2 H264/etc. Rather than deal with the huge file size and complicated workflow people can just go for that option. So a production with the extra hassle of a DSLR raw might not be so enticing and the compressed won't compare. There are always the interchangeable lenses and the tool that you have is better than the one you don't.

Oh and well the whole photography thing.

I thought of making it stop short to get around that but it failed :(

Even on 50D/7D where that 1799 is only in a few spots.

QuoteRecording software-limited to 30 min
-> solved (on 600D only, right?)

Was never able to bust through the limit even after patching it. And there are tons of spots to patch, I never got them all.

Raw Video / Re: 600d raw_rec_task: NULL PTR
March 18, 2014, 12:11:32 AM
600D may have both sets of commands?
#63
It can be patched the same way as on 600D, again the meta data would probably have to be rewritten. I thought about doing it but figured why bother since its supposed to auto split the files. Its more work to re-write the videos just for 4 frames.
#64
Boots solid red light... also has to be named like:

6D00011X.FIR or some variation or the camera won't read it. Do you have the unsigned bin, I can see if it boots.

#65
I'll re-run it and see if it boots if you want. 113 is long overdue.

Tragic Lantern / Re: 7D Raw Thread

well it doesn't work on 50D or 5DII either so this generation of camera doesn't support it.
#67
I had the same error with 4.7.3, updating solved it.

QuoteWhy photo and not video

Just like 50D, the changes work for photo mode but in video mode it does nothing. And on top of that 7D needs to have regs changed on the master proc so it would work as well as digital iso and image effects, flickery.

The fps override doesn't update meta data in the file so even if you recorded 2fps it will play at 30 until you get it into your NLE and override it.

you can try flipping video modes/pal/ntsc one of them should have 30fps. I have seen 24/25/30/60/50 as defaults and those will record with audio.

For wav, even MLV sound hangs the camera. You get like 1 wav and then hang. The best it will get is meters/audio controls/headphones unless there is some way to record wav without touching the asif functions or tripping whatever locks it up.

A1ex fixed the misaligned overlays bug!

pretty much. until an installer can be made for 113.

no wav on eos M. FPS override turns off sound. if you want 24fps you can record a normal movie without fps override. the fps will change as soon as you start recording.

#73
redo the boot flag/install

I like the 64gigs simply because you will lose less data if they die.

As for the aspect its probably only right on digic V for the squished modes. I had to change it for 600D, I bet its different for 7D too. I think its 2/3 on non full frames.

General Help Q&A / Re: Annoying 600d audio question
March 14, 2014, 01:31:16 AM
2.3 is a year (or more) behind... it kind of ebbs and flows. get a 600D over a 550D any day. It supports exfat and has a better sensor.
