General Help Q&A / False Colour
June 29, 2018, 07:08:45 AM
When using false colour is it accurate when shooting h264 footage? Does anyone use this to judge exposure when lighting?

Hi.

Is there an option to add a lut? I dont see an option but thought I would ask in case Ive just missed it. Thanks
#4
Do you know if it is possible to somehow convert a lut, or ICC profile into a .pf3 file so that I can load it into the camera as a picture style?  Or another method to get the calculations of the lut into the picture profile editing software to export as a .pf3 file?

Happy New Year fellow 5D2 Users  :D
Don't mean to double post this but thought is was important everyone is up to dated .
Just wanted to inform all 5d2 uses that if you don't all really know there a 10-12bit raw video reduction discussion thread going on here
There is success with the 5D2 in Crop Mode @ 10bit but full frame has corruption still and not very functional
The issue is the liveview is still in 14bits and causes problems , but for some reason unknow (at least to me ) in works in 3xCrop mode  :o
Don't expect any nightly here for some time , if you want to try it out and help to get the 5d2 working in full frame go to the  12-bit (and 10-bit) RAW video development discussion

I shot a quick green test that turned in to a quick talk/explanation of 10-12bit  ;D
quick facts , Filmed with my 5D2 @ 10bit 2144x1076 23.976p with mlv2.0+audio (11,190 frames) about 8:00 min
Write speed was about 65MB/s , more info at this post here

Edit: I uploaded this video as apple prores4444

Great video. Do you think  shooting in 10bit might give capability of shooting higher frame rates?

Great work by the way.

Does anyone know where I might be able to download the Alexa lut used in this video. Google doesnt seem to bring up the lut.

Thanks. It turns out I have a problem with my battery charger. It tells me the batteries are fully charged when they arent charging at all.  Using my other charger clarified this.

Hi.

I installed Magic lantern for the first time on Tuesday. I used it once and now the camera will not turn on.  All batteries are fully charged.  I wonder if I may have taken the SD card out too quick after turning it off.  Anyway does this sound like the camera is now bricked? If so is thee a way to get it working again?

Any info would be great. I appologize if this has been brought up before.

Raw Video / Re: 30 frames VS 24 Frames.

It's because 1856 is a multiple of 32 and 1872 is not. mlv_rec limits the resolutions to multiples of 32 because it allows for faster memory copy - and by that also better/stable write performance.

Thanks. I think I will use the stable version that you use. I can only find the Feb 18th 2015 build. Is that the one?

Yea I see ,I did some tests today and 30p is a little slower then 24p
I notice that different builds don't have consistent numbers , there are up & down.
raw ver1.0 benches faster then mlv thou,

Raw first, top ,next one down MLV (MLV ver. 2.0 latest Nightly April 7th 2015) on

raw+5d2+lexar1066x24p by RedDeerCityTV, on Flickr

Nightly Build Oct 24th/13 as a comparison , It did top out at 79.9MB/s read and did see a few 80+ on some early tests I did

Is the MLV ver. 2.0 latest Nightly April 7th 2015 stable to use or have you found issues with this build?

I'm wondering if its possible to connect my Canon 5DmkII to my macbook to get a live feed shooting raw.  I'm shooting on location in the city and am using a shallow depth of field so want to make sure I am nailing focus as I only have one chance to get this footage.  I've read that you can do this with a program using Windows, but I am using a Macbook. Any info would be great.

I wonder if using DSLR controller with the wireless remote from a TP-Link TL-MR3040 (only $40) would output RAW footage. Here is a link..  http://dslrcontroller.com/guide-wifi_mr3040.php

Raw Video / Raw Recording using an Android Tablet
November 30, 2014, 05:05:06 AM
I have just bought a Nexus 7 Tablet to use as a monitor with my canon 5dII via USB OTG cable.  It seems to work when trying to record h264 footage but the screen is black when trying it with Raw or MLV.  Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a solution? Or is it not possible to monitor via USB while recording in Raw? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Sorry if this has been discussed already. But I am running Windows 7 64bit. Is there a version of MLRawviewer that will run on my system?

Archived porting threads / Re: Canon 6D
September 23, 2014, 01:37:12 AM
Is the 6D capable of shooting at 60fps in raw? Ive been offered to buy it at a reasonable price.  I would be happy even if it could shoot a few seconds at 60fps.  I understand that it takes SD cards so will be limited. I already own the 5Dii so only want it for the 60fps raw option. Any advice would be great.

#22
Thanks for the info. I appreciate it

Did you shoot using 30fps? What shutter speed did you use and how much did you slow the footage down by? Its seems like you have mastered the settings. I couldnt spot any artifacts. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks
#24
Nice. How did you achieve slow motion?

Thanks for the responses people. Much appreciated.
