Hi
Just downloaded MLV.App.v1.14.macOS-ARM64.dmg for my M1 Pro (Monterey 12.6.1) but after installation I cannot run it. I've got an error that the program is corrupted and it should be deleted. On the other hand MLV.App.v1.14.macOS-Intel.dmg works fine.
What's wrong?

Anamorphic RAW needs a lot of space. I would get two 128 instead of one 256. You can use one card while the second one is uploading footage to your computer.

a simple M1 MacBookAir

Nice! Is it 16Gb RAM?
I'm considering the NEW Ryzen 7590X for audio and video. But MB AIR is still on my wish list.

I know you don't want to work on 5D3 to unblock correct framing liveview. but if you change your mind, you could ask money for the price of a new R5 ;)

That's for sure!!  ;) ;) ;) ;)

At what stage it is better to upscale?

Which ML Raw preset are you planning to use this monitor with?

I'm going to use 1920 presets (regular and x3) as 5d3 has proper preview via hdmi.
I wish to use 5k anamorphic, but the preview through hdmi is broken and not usable.

Hi Dmytro_ua,
can you tell us a bit about it? Easy to see in daylight? Ports and ergonomics? Max screen resolution with ML raw?

Easy to see in daylight? - I'll try it outside during this weekend. I chose 500nit monitor instead of ultrabright as it has better colors. On ultrabright they are not correct.
Mostly I shoot inside so its brightness is more than I need.
It's not as hot as ultrabright and uses less battery.
I like the possibility to power it up with type-c powerbank, LP-E6 batteries. I still didn't buy big SONY batteries. I put powerbank in my pocket and connect with a cable. So it is not as heavy as with a huge Sony battery on it. But I need more time for testing.

When connected to a camera the size of image has black bars on left and right. But I scaled resolution in monitor by 118% so now it is on a full screen (as you can see on pics above). Monitor remembers my settings even if the battery was removed.

Focus peaking works a little bit strange. It highlights some contrast thin shapes which are not in focus. And it may not highlight on close distances with shallow DOF. Maybe it's because HDMI resolution of 5d3 is low. I don't know. ML focus peaking works much better. For such situations it has sensitivity level, but if you increase it, you'll have more problems on regular objects.

Overall I like it. I was not sure what size I want. 5,5 or 7". But now I understand that 5,5 is really what I need.

Hardware and Accessories / Feelworld F6 PLUS with 5d3
August 06, 2022, 12:29:32 PM
I've recently received an external monitor Feelworld F6 PLUS and will use it with 5d mark III.

If anyone is interested in this monitor and need some information how it works in this combination, feel free to ask.  ;)

theBilalFakhouri, thanks for the hint!!

Yes, it works without RAW sound.

Glad no need to buy another card  ;)

Thanks for an advice!
Although a regular Canon's video without RAW enabled, records continuously on this card.

Writing Speed test on a computer shows around 10 MB/s.
My main concern is about Proxy module. Does it work or nobody is using it?
#12
Hi
Does Proxy work with any of the RAW presets? Even with a regular 1920p RAW it only records 5-8 seconds and then an Emergency stop appears.
SD card is selected as a preferred card. RAW goes strait to CF. The sound in RAW is corrupted when proxy is enabled.

I'm using Sandisk Ultra Micro SD HC I with an adaptor. Maybe this is a reason?

No news here = no news in development.
How hard to understand this?  :o

Sharpness pulled up in Davinci to 45.00  let me know what do you think about th sharpness now.

Can't really comment on this. The contrast looks a little bit high but the actual sharpness isn't here.
Maybe your lens is soft.

Raw is possible and Jpeg is impossible?
I cannnot understand.

Raw need more power(?) and encoding and processing time than jpeg, right?
But Jpeg is impossible?

Camera always gets RAW information from sensor and only after that it encodes RAW to jpeg or 8bit video inside the camera.
That's why it uses processing power to get image in RAW + extra power to process it to other formats (jpeg, 8bit video etc).
You cannot get jpeg or 8bit video without RAW

I got the MBA 16GB, 8Core GPU

Does 16GB is a must for video editing? Or 8Gb will do the job?
I was looking for the cheapest MBA M1

Have my new M1 for 48 hours now... FullHD on 48fps runs in realtime! (with standard grading) ... I've never seen such framerate numbers in our tool...

Wow! What model do you have?

Does MLV App work natively with new Silicon M1 or with Rosetta 2?

My first bike-packing trip ever.

Very nice! It seems to be a lot of focal lenses used here. Did you carry different lenses on bike-packing trip? Or is it smth like 24-70?

If R5 2 or 3 has the EM1 3 level's IBIS and rolling shutter effects, I will buy it over EM1 4 or 5. Otherwise, EM1 4 or 5 is a better choice.

These are absolutely different animals.
Don't forget that R5 is FullFrame and Olympus is 4/3"
Bigger matrix will have more rolling shutter and less capable IBIS as it has to move a much bigger hardware. Though I've never used Olympus cameras and can say nothing about them.

Canon EOS R5 Overheating Tests: The True Story

It all depends on your shooting style and needs. A lot of ML users are video hobbyists. Overheating is not an issue for a lot of users.
R5 is also a great stills camera, FF, DP autofocus, IBIS, etc. Which is not any of the listed above dedicated video cameras. That's why it's not correct to compare the price.  ;)

If the overheating the only reason not to buy this cam - there are some 3rd-party modifications. It void your warranty, though

I really hope that ML can break into the new R5 series, that will be dream.

R5 is a great CAM even without ML, so if you can afford it - it's a great choice ;)
