Focus peaking works with anamorphic preview, but only with "blinking dots" display selected.

Working like a charm! :D
I just miss the anamorphic preview in play mode now, but that can certainly wait.

I've been using the Alpha 3 for three days in a row, shooting  a short film all day long - no resting times for the camera - with many lenses (m42 adapted, 24-70, 70-200, 50, 16-35), multiple cards (and brands) and custom cropmarks without ANY bugs, quirks, errors and such. Congratulations, guys! Your work helps a lot! I'll certainly donate some more soon. :D

Hi, I'm from São Paulo, and have been writing and testing a lot of anamorphic adapters as well, because there was nothing like that in Brazil recently (at least, that I could find until June/2012).

I'm very curious about this prototype. What's the stretch? It looks like a double focus, but would you be willing to try something like the isco?

The video certainly does look interesting! May I take a look at the adapter? :D

Nice, may I ask you to prepare a few test shots with it?

I'm thinking to post an alpha 2.1 these days (same feature set, but with some redraw bugs fixed).

Was this meant for me? Anyway, the answer is yes! :P

Tested it during this week, on a friend's camera, for a few days in a row. Great results and absolutely no problems with the enabled features so far!

Great work!

Gradual exposure is one of the most useful and unexpected things I've seen in ML so far. A great feature that gives us a lot more of control in a same shot with different lighting environments!

I've tested the Alpha with lots of Canon and M42 lenses, as well as a little anamorphic work.

The LV squeeze is awesome, but it has some little problems, like, when combined with focus peaking, the peaking remains on the unsqueezed points of the image (sometimes against a black background). Also, would be great if the squeeze could be applied in Play mode as well. It does help a lot when reviewing a take to decide whether we do another one, or move to the next shot. :D

Once again, congratulations, guys! You rock.

I'm gonna test it for real tomorrow, with some anamorphic lenses. Did a quick test today and it worked great.
I noticed some lag in LV when CPU rates are too high. Had to disable some stuff.

Focus peaking has some other modes I've never noticed in previous versions, that are good, but drain a lot of CPU too.

Anyway, congratulations guys! By the end of the weekend I'll post some more thoughts here about the new alpha.

Tutorials and Creative Uses / Anamorphic Cropmarks
October 09, 2012, 10:06:59 PM
Hey guys!

Recently I've been taken by an anamorphic fever and the point is: they have some different stretch ratios (1.33x, 1.5x and 2x).

Last week I worked on a project mixing these lenses and had quite a headache figuring out, on set, which portion of the screen was going to be used on the final video, meant to be Cinemascope (2.4:1), shot with a Panasonic LA7200 (1.33x stretch), but was also shot with a Kowa (2x stretch). Something was going to cropped out of Kowa's image.

Right after that I went into Photoshop and made cropmarks for mixing all kinds of anamorphic stretches and still being able to know what portion of the frame is gonna be used in the final video. Tested them today with the Panasonic (1.33x) and an Isco (1.5x) and it worked perfectly. Here they are.

As you noticed, the file names have similar and repeating numbers. The first number means the final image proportion, and the second number is the stretch ratio of the used lens. For example, you want to shoot something with a Kowa (2x stretch) and also use a normal lens for extra footage, when shooting this extra footage you should use the cropmark that says "2x-norm", as it reproduces the size ratio of Kowa's final image, on a lens that has no stretch ratio.

The names were easier to understand, but a bit longer as well, so they didn't show properly in ML menu.

That's awesome! I was really missing focus peaking and zebras. :P

You probably know this by now, but, the new firmware has just been released!
Does this affect current ML development for the 7D?

I've taken some pictures of a bricked 7D circuit board I got at my university. This one had to be changed for a new one in order to restore the camera.

The pictures were taken with a ML T2i and a 100mm Macro. If you need more detailed images of any components of the board, I'll be glad to take a few more pictures.

coutts, if you (or anyone else) explain me (or send me a link of) how to do it, i'll send it pretty soon! :D
I tried to find a clue of how to do it, but I got lost with all I found.
