Tutorials and Creative Uses / Re: Firmware Update/Downdate?
« on: June 04, 2019, 08:14:58 PM »
Hi
I am somewhat baffled. I own a 550D and having been running ML under firmware 109 successfully for years.  Foolishly I up dated to version 110 only to find that I am now blocked from going back, downgrading. and can not run Ml any more using 109, I am even unable to run ML on an old card correctly set up.

Can some one please tell me if it is possible to downgrade and how to do it.  I am not a computer buff/geek but can follow simple instructions.
Thanks

Hi Walter

Many thanks Walter, you have sovled my problem  :)  :) and were very understanding with my lack of knowledge.

The problem was was brought about partly, due to my ignorance, partly because the way nightly builds presentation had changed and the problem that windows 10 appears to deleate certain programmes and links when applying updates which led me to think it was not allowing parts of the information to be displayed.

Regards
Tim

Thanks Walter unfortunatly I do not have a copy of 1.0.9 and it is nolonger available on the Canon site.   :(

I have asked Canon if they can let me have a copy, fingers crossed, in the mean time does ML have a copy that they could let me have please.

Regards
Tim.

The ml site for nightly builds looks like this in the screen shot attached and would appear to be missing the traffic cone icon. does this matter?

PS  am starting to get the shakes through withdrawal symptons.

General Help Q&A / Magic lanter has vanishe from my 550D and laptop
« on: June 29, 2017, 07:54:47 PM »
When I came to update to the latest nightly build the was no traffic cone shown, only the icons for ML, ml-setup fir. and autoexe c bin. copying them accross to my SD card as normal, the card was not updated.  I looked at the other nightly builds and they were all the same.  Has MS removed anything?

I then went to Canons site to see if thier firmware needed reloading and was offered only an update 1.1 which I used to update my card. now Magic Lantern is not allowed to be copied!!!!

Can any one tell me what is happening please or is it just me.  Am getting twiches and the shakes due to not being able to use ML. :((

Hi  It happens on auto too.  However it appears to be stable on TV AV and P as well as A- dep.   Have upgraded to the June N'Build same result.
Could it be one of the settings under ML?   Will try revert and if this does not correct delete ML , reformat card and reload ML from scratch.

Sorry cannot find away to enter a new topic but this is sort of related.

When I set up the camera to take a photo using eithert  AV, TV or Manual -  White Balance, EXP, ISO, aperture the camera then continually hunts through the exposure from min to max available making actually taking the photo impossible.  How do I fix please been unable to find away.  I am currently using nightly build May 25th but this has occurred on previous builds.

Hi
On a slightly different topic.

I have been successfully using ML for some time now for still images though vid is a little thwort at the moment.

I have been asked to give a short talk on ML by my Camera club and would like to be able to project straight from the camera via a PC.

Does any one know how to do this or what programme I would need to acquire?
Thanks

Hi
I am having to give a short talk on ML to my camera club, Club Focus in Plymouth UK, and want to be able to show how to set White balance, iso shutter speed etc. via a projector and my laptop.

Is there a programme I can down load that will allow me to do this please?

You can email me at timingram@msn.com

hi Danne.

I trust you had an enjoyable festive season.  We did  and I apologies for not responding sooner.

I have downloaded as requested and extracted the files which worked fine. Though when I double click on the install this file first I get the message 'Windows is unable to open this File'.  Have I got the wrong file?

The appears to be two files marked OS Mac, one contains Windows logos.

Aaah the pain of not owning a Mac

Regards
Tim

Hi Danne
Tried to follow your link but could not down load any thing.  Probably due to not being sure what I actually looking for.

To Recap,  Have managed to get the individual images to work though do have to unzip Cd2hdr each time an use a fresh copy. The results are stunning will try and up load a couple for you to see.
Have tried to use this with video but  having no joy.  Is there a different programme that I have to use?

My Camera is canon KISS 4 550d. and at this point in time am having to use  Windows Movi Maker as am unable to change my Laptop Graphics card.
Regards
Tim

Just found out that the latest post is on the last page not the first.  Such a lot to learn which is why some of my posts appear disjointed.

What do you use the DCraw app for?  When I use it  on an image it converts to PNG and puts it into Glimp.  Will follow your link re movi.
