So far so good, working here! Thank you for the quick fix David!

In Resolve, if you right click and select "Add into Media Pool With Offset" and then enter in a value around 3500, the audio should be close to sync. I'm not sure if 3500 will work for you guys but it worked with multiple clips for me.

Note: it doesn't put the audio perfectly in sync so this isn't a usable workaround unless you want to fiddle with finding the exact offset for each clip, but I think this may help dmilligan get closer to figuring out what's causing this.

from my experience, it seemed like the audio is properly linked in the timeline, just the timing is not right. it is starting up late, towards the end of the clip. but not sure why the audio timing is correct in the source window.
#4
that happens to me when recording gets cut short because the card has filled. usually those shots come out messed up. you can try using mlrawviewer for it

Same issue here. Not sure what causes it.. doesn't happen too often. Have to turn off and turn on camera for autofocus to work again.

Hey guys,

Resolve audio linked is great but is not working for me. All of the files are loading with a linked audio file, but most of the audio is blank, and only some of my longer clips have the audio start towards the end of the file. I don't know if it makes a difference, but all the clips are shot at 50p. When I play each clip in the source window in Resolve, the audio is linked and works perfectly, but once I load it into the project there's no more audio, or there is but only in a few clips and it starts towards the end of the clip//isn't in sync.

I've been shooting raw for a year and have had no problems with Lexar dual slot readers, I have two currently.

^ maybe camera mounted sideways on head mounted to slider.

chmee has it in raw2cdng as well... rawmagic and cdng do it in different ways (rawmagic automatically creates sequences that have audio linked in resolve... raw2cdng you have to select all the audio and append it to the video files by timecode). I know in the raw2cdng thread they discuss implementation of audio syncing for beta 3.

Would it be of any use to do some tests with a newer 1.2.3 build?
That is the newest 1.2.3 nightly

Is there a plan to get audio sync in Resolve working?

I delete my mlv files often before I have a chance to go through my converted footage. I'll upload to dropbox as soon as I come across a file with this issue

those tests are averages of three times recording and the results all line-up with my in field results. but yes I do agree a more thorough test should be done

Interesting..

Out of interest (and if you can be arsed to check) what do you get on 1.1.3 at 50p with a 16:9 ratio?

If I recall correctly, I get about 9 seconds at that ratio at 50p. At 60p I get 4 seconds.

Raw Video / 5D3: 1.1.3 vs 1.2.3 Slow Mo Record Times
September 29, 2014, 05:50:42 AM
Hey all,

Just for reference. Here's an unscientific look at how many seconds I can record for:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/tkwhcxypjqmfjru/Screenshot%202014-09-28%2023.41.08.png?dl=0

As you can see, 1.1.3 has a very slight edge on 1.2.3 at 60fps, and at 50fps it is a significant difference. Based on prior tests I can record for 2.5 minutes at 50fps on 1.1.3 MLV. All settings were optimal settings with the same GD options turned on for both (cropmarks, raw zebras-off while recording). All shot on a Kb 1066x 64GB card.

My findings proving 1.1.3 performs better than 1.2.3, at least for what I use it for. All settings were optimal settings with the same GD options turned on for both (cropmarks, raw zebras-off while recording). All shot on a Kb 1066x 64GB card.

^ Sorry Alex, just saw this now.
I'll make a post on my own tests in the future

Raw Video / Re: MLV Audio Breaking

Wow, I just came to post this very thing. It is happening with myself and two other shooters. All on 5D3, 1.2.3 and 1.1.3, mostly happens, if not only (haven't confirmed yet) while shooting 50 or 60fps, not 23.976.

To illustrate what's happening, see this image:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/gbqyls5dr4jjmj0/MLVaudio.jpg?dl=0

We've only experienced it shooting RAW video with the MLV format (only way for sound of course). I don't believe it is a conversion problem. The MLV files themselves have this error and it can be heard during playback using MlRawViewer (for example). It doesn't happen to all files, but does seem to happen to a good chunk of them on every shoot (pretty much all of our shooting is at 50 or 60fps).

To add on, it seems like the final 30-40% of the audio gets inserted before the first 60-70% of the audio file. I am wondering if because recording usually stops early while shooting slowmo at 1920 x 508 (1920x818) if the sound metadata is not being closed/ended properly, or something along those lines.

^ I get 2 minutes and 15 seconds to 30 seconds at 50p 2.35:1
5D3 on 1.1.3 FW (1.2.3 doesn't perform as well from my experience)

can you link a sample DNG exhibiting this issue? I know you said you fixed the black level, but it does look like a black level issue. what steps did you take to fix the black level?
#21
Post a pic example please

I'm extremely appreciative of ML and RawMagic. Both have enabled me to take my work to the next level, ML of course with RAW/MLV video, and RawMagic being integral in conversion into a Davinci Resolve audio-synced dng sequence. I hope you can all find a solution and move forward with no bad blood.

LUT import working now, thanks!
#25
I can't add LUTs.

Windows 8.1 64bit
MlRawViewer 1.2.3

Open a clip (via double-clicking MLV file / via opening MlRawViewer.exe and navigating to file)
Shift left and right browses the 1D LUTs
Shift up and down does nothing
Shift L to add LUTs
Window pops up
Navigate to LUT (tried adding one at a time, or multiple, from desktop, or my Resolve LUT folder)
Select Open
Mouse Icon changes to busy wheel for a half second
Shift up and down does nothing
Shift left and right changes 1D LUT

C:/Users/<username>/.mlrawviewer containts lut1d file, directory file, and mlrawviewer.log file, nothing else

Any idea what's going on? I can't add 1D or 3D LUTs
