I forgot to mention Im using Davini Resolve, not AE version. Hence I have a HUGE mess of Cinelog LUTs in my Resolve folder. Could you please advise how to combine the update w the Resolve version so I can easily jump through the 5 different types of LUTs w/o having so many different file naming schemes , etc?

Essentially, is may be easier if you could provide the entire package as one instead of an update? Or at least if you could advise regarding which LUTs can be combined within the previous 5 folders in the v3 folder structure (unless it really requires a 6th folder).

Just trying to make this easier to use during a fast paced grading session and my cinelog folders are a mess. Many thanks and looking forward to more in the LUT bank.

Invested in both versions earlier, but would love to support the ACR version as well. Would you happen to have a coupon for those who already have purchase \ supported the project? I think it would be a great addition to my toolkit aside from having it in Resolve.

Many thanks!!

Many thanks Andy600! Quick question: These aren't matching the previous folder layout of CinelogDCP v3, so is this intended to replace the previous version? If not, can you please advise which folders these should be combined with from the previous version of CinelogDCP? Its getting confusing between v2, v3 and the newest version which is the correct workflow, which to retire, etc? Many thanks for advising.

Still waiting..., but very much looking forward to the mentioned powergrades and such. Also, any other tips on using cinelog as a toolkit are useful. Will there be an update discussing suggested workflows for various cameras and purposes?

just in case it got lost in the thread, i put together  quick walk through for beginners on how to quicker get started. Hope it helps! Many thanks for your continued work on this project!

Im gonna jump in and ask when we can expect an update as well? I would never request such a thing, but you did essentially sell a product in beta form, numerous of us were so impressed that we payed in advance assuming you were somewhat close. Its been several months, and Im even on a new camera and Ive yet to see any updates to workflow suggestions, look luts, or any of the promised inclusions that we paid for. I understand it required sophisticated equipment to develop these, but at this point the I honestly feel your product is incomplete and although I didnt mind waiting a little bit for more development, its been quite a while without any updates from you.

Can you please provide some type of ETA for updates, as any other product would? Otherwise I dont feel it was fair for you to charge for these.. Visioncolor provides VisionLog for free and simply charges for the LUTs, and although I tried to support a smal project like your own, Im beginning to wonder if it was a good idea. I hope you are able to change my mind about that, as it seems others feel the same way about the unacceptable delay. Many thanks!

Hello Everyone,

So after a while, I felt like I should understand a little more about LUTs and put together a quick article about using them after I did all my research . Felt i should share what others hare passed on. Hope it helps anyone who is slightly confused by the "LUT Talk".

Hi All

There is a new update for MediaReactor Workstation for Windows 64 bit that improves handling of audio in multi part MLV files, and adds more support for multi part RAW (R00, R01) files.  It is available now at

http://www.mediareactor.ws

As always, testers and suggestions are always welcome.

Cheers, James

Hello James,

Id be happy to test it out with MLV. How can I get on the beta list, as I i remember I previously had licensing issues with the beta.

Thanks, Jason

sorry guys. debugging on bigger files does not work here where i am, instead of this i coded a neat extra and optimized the proxy output.

raw2cdng 1.5.0 beta8 is online.
* mlvplayer embedded - glue the file extension MLV to this app and lets play it :) RAW not tested yet. (no audio)
* whitebalance optimized (hopefully) on jpg/mpeg2 output
* no rec709-log/lut but gamma 2 on proxyoutput.
* fixed glitch on mpeg2-output (length was taken by audio, now it should be ok)
* folder dragdropable. Use P-tag.

for sure the playback is not accurate, but massively helps to overview recordings. and it looks better than ffplay (sorry, this was my first idea)

regards chmee

Many thanks for the folder option, what do you mean by using the p-tag? For what reason? Seems to work just by dragging a folder

I don't know if debugging and impletementing your program is a holiday for you or not but, thanks for being a team player! I know ML users will be happy!

Another massive thanks for a happy ML \ Cdng user. You've created the best solution for MLV to cdng for windows so far, otherwise we'd still be stuck in DNG sequence land

I put together a quick article documenting my workflow using MLRawViewer.  Should help those just getting started and want a quick walkthrough. Hope it helps!

LUTs would be possible - by which I mean LUTs loaded from simple/obvious file formats. LUT support is on the enhancement list (you can vote for it -> https://bitbucket.org/baldand/mlrawviewer/issue/18/log-output-and-3d-luts-should-be-supported)

However, I don't know how to support DCP files, since those are a binary file format intended for Adobe products. So to use VisionLOG, or CineLOG, you would need to get "simple" LUT versions of those, or else help me find a spec for the DCP file format.
I'm referring specifically to 3d LUTs, not Adobe camera raw profiles. There are 3d LUT versions of visionlog that use .Cube based files for resolve

Would you be able to add the ability to apply a LUT file to the MLV files instead of using the built-in LOG, HDR, profiles? This would be enormously useful for conversion to VisionLOG, CineLOGDCP, etc in terms of applying specific log profiles or just using a general LUT overall?

The file appears to be damaged, this is the file as copied off the card. All files came up fine in mkvdiag.

On another note, I all of a sudden cant launch raw2cdng. Something happened w my system. ever seen anything like the following?

HDR is using an specific algorithm, it was discussed previously in this thread. Here is a quote opf wat its doing
Quote
It applies the simple "Reinhard" global tone map function x -> x / (1+x) which maps input from the range 0-inf to the range 0-1, i.e. it never clips. The brightness (exposure) multiplier can then be applied as much as you like to bring out the darker areas, and compress the brighter areas.

(Sorry, I've no idea how to achieve the same result in Resolve).

Will do with the problem files so you can take a look at them. No clue why these are recording with errors, as they were all recorded at the same time with the same build on the same cards. What's strange as I had 4 previous days FULL of MLVs that decoded without any crashes......(confused). Not sure why it started having issues on Day 5 and 7 (didnt shoot on day 6)

No worries, thank you for your help in diagnosing the issues and debug logs.

Blur the color channels a bit, should help.

Many thanks for the detailed explanation!

Totally cool, my only issue now is getting the .mov files to link to my DNG files back in resolve. xml and edl are being a real pain. Any ideas?

If the files are named the same as the DNG folders it should be quite easy to relink back in Resolve. Use an XML, not an edl as EDL only supports ONE track of video. The KEY is making sure the filenames are identical, ensuring a setting in resolve is set to assist using file\folder names, and ensure you uncheck import media, as you MUST have already imported your CDNG files before you import your XML. The below should assist

This should help: http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=11379.msg122149#msg122149

Done: https://bitbucket.org/baldand/mlrawviewer/commits/845b561366761c351aadad057f99efd669179f74

Will be in the next release. This should allow you try to try different ProRes variants and bitrates (e.g. for proxies), as well as any other container or codec like H.264, or even JPG/PNG/TIFF output. Some examples are in the commit message.

In a later version I may take some of the best examples people make and offer them as standard options in the UI.

Ridiculously awesome. Many thanks!!

Quick question: When you decode to DNG, are you using any type of standard decoding method? Im trying to compare it to raw2cdng decoding quality and see which is better and I was curious if you decoded to DNG ? Long story short, should I execpect any quality difference when decoding using methods?

@chmee I think I figured my issue. I was bringing in all the files in one folder. Didnt realize I need to bring in EACH folder individually, and use the autosync option on the folder for each clip. Im going to try a mass sync tonight and see how it work along w beta7, as Ive had a few crashes w beta6 (mainly related to scrolling when it is reviewing the clips after dragging them).

Many thanks for the update and testing! :)

In davinci to synchronise the audio with the mlv clips (dng format) you need to import them and create bins; Then click on each, and the audio will match; Create your timeline, and there U go.

MANY THANKS!!!! THis solved a major issue ive been tryign to solve :)

What do you mean 'blank track'? And how are you trying to sync?

Itve found I need to sync by adding each clip and audio file in its own bin. If i dont (by selecting multiple video and audio files) and select sync by timecode, it will looked as if synced (video shows audio icon) but when you look at the audio, its either blank or starts very late (several seconds late if at all). Strange thing is if I drag the wav file manually and line it up, audio is fine and is complete. Seems I MUST add clips via their own bin. Anyone else?

Has anyone made any progress with the onboard audio?  To me it's just about perfect really except for this.  I find myself spending so much time trying to sync the audio in post - so used to having a good "reference" audio track.   :)
agreed, this kills when trying to match to an audio recorder and you dont have a reference track

Noise reduction should go before color correction if possible, as CC can exacerbate noise. Nip it early
