I have got my card formatted as exFat and have ML working but the video still stops automatically at 12 minutes. The only thing I can find about it is an old Tragic Lantern build. Is there any way to get past this while still keeping a nightly build?

The one or two posts I've found searching seem to be very outdated.

Is it possible for ML to read and write the date/time of the camera? If so it would be nice if there were an auto DST setting. These days so many things are set automatically it's not always easy to remember to change the camera time.

Rather than even having an interface maybe there could just be a text file with comma separated values and DST start/end dates entered in unix time or whatever ML can see them as. And a flag of some sort for each date to tell whether or not that change has already been made after that date. (I'm not sure if DST dates are the same everywhere.)

Anyway I am still struggling a little with ML development, I would be interested in any info pertaining to the possibility of this.

I have a  550d and a lens that can be manually focused in auto focus mode and the manual/auto switch is messed up and really hard to switch. Is there by any chance a way to switch to manual focus with the camera rather than the lens? Basically, just tell it to not focus when I release the shutter? I don't believe there is anything in the stock firmware, and I can't find anything in ML, but maybe I missed something.

So my understanding is that the ML team cannot simply do whatever they want and the best we have is "screenshots" of the liveview when we want to take a picture without actuating the mirror. But is there a reason that this isn't a thing that canon just puts in? When they invented liveview, why did they make it actuate the mirror? I can at least understand the shutter, maybe shutter speed it more easily controlled mechanically than electronically. But why on Earth is the mirror moving? There must be a reason. Is it just because they didn't bother separating those two actions, mirror and shutter?

I just got a Class 10 16GB SanDisk card from NewEgg, upgraded from the same but Class 6. The Class 6 got up to 12.1 MB/s write but this Class 10 only gets up to 9.4 MB/s write. And it's consistently lower anyway. I'm testing with the benchmark on a 550D. I understand that the 550D should be able to manage around 20MB/s.

So what's the deal? Why on Earth might the class 10 card be slower?

I've seen it mentioned that the 550D has some limitations in write speed. I am thinking about getting a faster card but there's no use in getting something that is faster than the camera. Does anyone have any benchmarks or experience with the maximum write speed of this camera so I can get an idea of what to look for?
