How about a status/progress bar?

Seems to be running well on OS X 10.6.8. Canon 5dIII. Doing test runs today.

Update: Also with os x 10.9 Mavericks and everything I could think of. Very happy to have this!

This and Resolve Lite makes a raw workflow that is doable and free. That's quite something.

Share Your Videos / Despacio (Hammersmith)
February 18, 2014, 08:15:05 PM
I've been filming raw a lot the last couple of months. However, here is the first bit of stuff that gets out. I'm posting this because I'm very grateful to the Magic Lantern team.

Despacio is a very special party. It's a collaboration between James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem) and David and Stephen Dewaele (Soulwax, 2manyDJ's). You can read more here http://www.wired.co.uk/news/archive/2013-11/29/despacio and here http://www.facebook.com/despaciosoundsystem.

I had the chance to make two short videos for them. As circumstances were extremely difficult, with hardy any light, I was very happy to have ML. Even used some functions that I never looked into before. "Shoot like crazy" was my favorite find under timelapse...

Here is the first:

Here is the second:

The next Despacio will be at the Roundhouse in London on the 7th and 8th March 2014.

I need to try this out asap. I've been waiting a long time for this! (Mac GUI)

As much as I would jump on board the MLV train, any file format doesn't mean anything to me until there is a usable post production path. I am on a Mac (for how long to come, who knows, but quite some time already now).

I'm not a hacker, so for me, having tools like gingerhdr to quickly create proxies for offline editing straight from the raw file, is a big plus.

Update: seems the laptop was the problem. Just to be correct.

I just came back from a shoot in Tokyo. Only problems I ever had were failed transfers, prop ably because of shocks while walking with the camera in a bag in a bad position. Loved this little thing. Running around all day with just the camera, this, lenses and batteries.

Using the 1tb version with either internal battery or external self made battery pack.

Only gripe was that it lost connection sometimes while copying to my laptop over FireWire 800. Not a clue why. Perhaps it overheated or something.

Ps. My 5d3 setup was like this, but without the follow focus: http://twitter.com/HetRovendOog/status/403547284321091584/photo/1

As for battery life with the nexto: the battery packs I've made for my Zoom H4N audio recorder also works with the nexto. Four c-batteries in series.
I'm testing it now before taking it on a short tour next week.

If only I could find the option to auto-delete the footage on the card after transferring. Rebooting the thing is a stupid extra step.

Simeon. Thanks for your comment. Nice to hear a developpers side. Really helps me appreciate all the effort even more. I guess professionals in every line of work rather get paid in full or do things for fun, than working for peanuts. I know I do.

As much as I like both new features and stability, for production work I rely on a build that hasn't failed me once. What's there to complain? The other option would be to buy an Arri Alexa.

For now I'm recording the audio beeps from the headphone output on my 5d3 to one channel of an audio recorder. Together with the time stamp of the raw file, this syncs up pretty well. Snap fingers in front of the lens when I can't use the clapper. Doable and you have a long audio recording which is nice on documentary shoots.

Still, would kill for in camera recording as well.

I would love to run around all day without the trouble of dumping footage on a laptop. This is now on my shopping list.

Then a backup at night. Perfect.
#61
It's the weirdest thing, today I can't replicate the problem anymore. Camera must have had an off-day.

Yesterday's and today's build are not working for me on 5d3. Raw recording stops immediately. Am I the only one having troubles?
No problems using older build (26/9/13).

I'm in PAL not having any trouble shooting tungsten or tube lights. Only problematic scenes are led-screens at concerts, but I don't know whether their native refresh rate are 50hz. I can't imagine a camera being successful if it were a problem in normal conditions.

(Actually it's annoying hardly any consumer compact camera has a 25 or 50fps mode right now)

How about the August 21st build? (938047c)
If not pm me.

I format my cards in the computer. I think you're right, but haven't checked. (I haven't reformatted my cards yet. So far so good. Just copy files and delete.)

mine never shuts down and its always above 55..
anyways, so, its not possible to turn off temperature warning?
and as screenshot shows, it wasnt there few months ago..

Same request here. A reason for me to stick with older builds, I'm afraid.

I could use a solution as well. There are situations where auto iso is the best option.

I think this band should be very grateful you did this with a 'hacked' camera still in 'beta'. Nice work!

I wrote it wrong: the lenses may only close down, if they have the clicks removed from the f-stop ring. But my altered Zeiss lens works very well. Much better actually.

(And it now are 3 Novoflex adapters to save time swapping lenses)

General Development / Re: Proportional fonts
September 27, 2013, 10:49:58 AM
The proportional fonts make the menus so much quicker to read. Really nice when you're under pressure and shooting in changing circumstances. It's more than just eye-candy.

I also use two Novoflex adapters as I shoot both Nikon and Canon 5d mark II and III. Not all Nikon lenses fit the Canon though, eg. my oldest 24mm doesn't. And I've been told some lenses may close down automatically. My (stop less) Zeiss 50mm macro works beautifully and about 8 other lenses do too, though.
I can recommend them.

(I don't like to sell glass, because I'm too attached to each lens)
