Any idea how to avoid half pink frames with raw mv1080 ? Or the only way is to reshoot, i can actually see when theyre goin to happen because screen flickers in a certain way.
I did some diggin on forums and found out histogram might be the cause and overall ML overlay so its best to disable them during raw record, ill check this. Some other guys said that framing preview during recording causes this.

i think rewire means you record entire screen of the camera, not just 16:9.
For 4.5K follow this :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWi0sZA-nrA
I use mv1080p and then crop. This creates moire/aliasing free footage much more details than mov h264 and colours you never suspected this camera could capture.
I have some issues sometimes in most recent build and mv1080p, shutter speeds cant go below 70 , cant get 1/50, not sure yet whats triggering it.Also sometimes shutter jums back to previous values by itself, i change 50 to 53,58 and it goes back to 50 after 2 seconds.
Guys is there a way to always get 1/48 shutter in 23.976 ? Or 180degree, you know like film camera, currently i can get 1/45 and 1/50 and im not sure how to get it to 48.
I remember long time ago there was setting in fps override to get 180degree shutter according to the fps, it was removed ?

baris after reading some comments on your card i suspect its about 20MB writing speed, it should be fine for 11 bits raw lossless but i recommend buying faster one, i have 45mb writing speed and i can record 5k anamorphic raw mode , i can record 1504x1920 then after stretch its 4512x1920 :o
This is magical! I feel even dumber for asking about h.264 :D

Im just testing 4.5k RAW and almost pissing myself from hapiness , i dont know how You did it Danne but im amazed. :o
Im using 11 bits to save space, is it wrong ? Sorry to derail masc ! Im a bit overexcited with this, Raw has so much more colours, image is beatiful.Rich cyans and magentas, even better than real life.

So its not possible to correct white level in RAW so entire image wont be brighter ? i think most people are using this to remove pinks problem when footage is overexposed.
What i found out is that white level can be quite random with overexposed footage.
#481
Yeah , good to know, i have one more question ,when we adjust white level in RAW to get rid of pink highlights then entire image is lifted, wouldnt it be better if only highlights would be stretched/lifted leaving mids where they were ? I see i have a bit more noise in darks visible after i correct my white levels.
Or some other method where darks and mids  will stay intact and only highlights will be corrected.

There are tutorials on youtube, start simple, enable just mlvlite, mlvsound and nothing more, remember to use fps override with raw recording.
If your card is at least 10mb writing speed then you can record raw at 1768x444 , its cinemascope ratio, about 20 seconds will be saved, its not much but definitely useable even on such slow cards.
#483
baris3 you need at least 45mb write speed card, usually it comes with 90mb read speed but not always, i have one it was recommended to me a few posts before yours, works great and i can record at 2520x1418 as maximum size.
I had 10mb speed sdhc card class10 and i could record 11bit lossless  raw in cinemascope 2.35:1 for 20 seconds which is quite good considering 10mb speed. It was 1768xsomething
You cant record above 1080p without using raw, if you want to record something else than canon 1080p files you have to use raw.
marcelo with some c lenses you get soft corners in 3x3 crop mode, there are some tests on youtubes with c mount raw which look great but jey probably use 5x5 crop
In worst case scenario you will sell the camera if you wont like it.

I did some coding but for games mostly, im not as smart as You guys and this app is already amazing with the tools it has.
Im able to hide noise with "shadows" slider under "highlights" it looks natural and i dont have to blur chroma which creates that color fringe/glow around person thats affected by it, if there would be a way to contain chroma blur to its original area and not expand...
What do You suggest as final export format from MLVApp ? Most export formats in it are uncompressed / lossless for exporting to edit in other video editors later, id like exported video from MLV App to be final output.
Would it be possible on day to export all clips one after another as one video? ( merge them on export ) i direct stream copy them all after export from MLV App
#485
Would having chroma blur only for dark areas help ? Is it currentlyu for entire image , darks, mids and highs ?
Also do we have control over h.264 compression ? I could use more detail when exporting.Theres huge detail gap between mjpeg and h264/265 export
Im using LMMSE  which produces sharpest image but im getting artifacts(red dots ) when theres a lot of bright areas in the middle of image

Are these focus dots leftovers ? Thats what i think , maybe removal isnt working in the sam way when LMMSE is active

Thanks a lot !
I also was wondering about blacks and darks noise....
It seems like black areas of the image are noisy even at ISO100, probably becaise constrast is flattened out compared to what we see in camera ( i was able to see in raw what was totally black in neutral pic style).Canon's contrast settings for pic styles hide noise in the dark.
So.. this got me thinking, if its possible to reconstruct highlights, is it also possible to reconstruct darks ? Green channel is lost in highlights and introduces magenta , if my thinking is right.
In darks there is green noise prevalent so maybe similar reconstruction to darks would help to at least smooth out the noise a bit ?
Or am i totally wrong and theres other cause of noise ?

Im using very latest build  crop_rec_4k_mlv_snd_isogain_1x3_presets_2019Mar29.EOSM202
After more investigation i think i was wrong and just didnt had ticked reconstruct highlights, so all is fine now besides the fact that im a noob in ML RAW.
:D

Or not, i found other clip, reset all settings for correction , just ticked reconstruction and highlights down, theres pink, until i go raw white level to 3490
Ill upload the clip, IMO it has something to do with highlights being clipped, when theyre not clipped then default value of 3817 is fine.
IT would be supercool if app would detect clipped highlights and use 3490 if thats the case.
#489
Great App, i have a question, i have canon M and app detects raw white level as 3817 but correct one is 3490 ,is there any way to change this so it will be correct on every clip ? So i dont have to do it manually all the time.
I have pink highlights if white level is incorrect.
Or is my thinking wrong and theres some other way to deal with pink highlights?

It looks like different clips have different white level anway

Raw Video Postprocessing / Re: MLVProducer: [v3200]

Hi, this software preserves highlights a bit better than other mlv tools out there but i have one question about 11 bit lossless mlv from canon M, when i import it then its a bit darker than lets say 14 bit lossless.
Is it normal ? Any way to change that ? I tried different method to reconstruct green but it just helps tiny bit and stretches histogram.
On 14 bit histogram is nicely distributed but on 11 bit lossless its squeezed to half its length.

Thanks ! After correcting a few shots i did today with RAW i just realized, im not coming back to h.264, it just doesnt make sense and ill just get better SD card.
With some shots i could not believe RAW is that good, i thought i had another shot underexposed to preserve highlights but its almost like magic, the amount of highlights you can restore with raw is like a miracle to me.
Sorry for dumb question with h.264... now it feels almost insulting to bring h.264 suggestions in here.I love RAW.
#492
I see the difference with naked eye, looks better when raw is turned on, it might be because i use fps override with raw and it makes rolling shutter look better but when i use fps override in h264 then it doesnt look as good as raw when i look at rolling shutter.
#493
Good questions...
- i cant preview mlv in camera smoothly or i dont know how im using raw since a couple of days.
- filesize , raw is about 3 times , sometimes i dont need so much freedom to color correct as much i try to get good image in camera so im recording 10bit losless.
- mostly i would like better rolling shutter and its definitely better when recording raw.
I actually record raw but im curious is it possible to do the same thing with canon's h.264 mov files and get rolling shutter improvement like when filming raw.
If not possible then fine.
Anyone knows whats good enough card to get 1080p in raw recording on M , 14 bit with continuous, so i dont have to worry about anything?
Not the best card, just good enough.

Hey guys is it possible to record mov files cropped  and save some cpu cycles?
I noticed i have less rolling shutter when im recording raw 2.35:1 compared to recroding 16:9 even in mov h264.
That pre recording crop for sure lest camera record faster, when i use crop 2.35:1 so it doesnt have to sweat as much as when recording 16:9, so is it possible to record actual 2.35:1 to h264 mov files ? That improves rolling shutter and would be worthy from what i see.
What do You guys think ?

Camera-specific Development / Re: Canon EOS M
March 17, 2017, 11:37:37 PM
There is this menu in autoexposure module when you adjust auto ISO values, but its been like 3 years since i tried last time and i could not edit maximum value, only minimum can be changed, it says "use left right for minimum and main dial for maximum" , well, what is main dial ? I cant do anything to change maximum value and i tried all buttons on camera to do it, is it some kind of bug that nobody mentions because no one is using this feature ? Can i somehow edit behaviour of on camera buttons so they will work fully in ML submenus  like this and ill be able to edit maximum value ?

How i can change default ML shortcuts when i liveview? I want to use arrowup/down to change my ISO, currently they do single shooting and other options if i press up and i  can change ISO with down  arrow but i only have canon values to choose (100/200/400/800 etc)and i want all of them from ML menu.
Would be best to change ISO with UP/DOWN arrow, change white balance with LEFT/RIGHT arrow and change shutter speed by rotating wheel.

I came to the same conclusion , there is no difference between 1x and 2x but there is huge difference between 0.9x and 1x.
Maybe there is some more detail with a lot of movement but its really not that visible to justify bigger files so its just better to leave it at default.
#499
It wont work cause i wanted to do it too, i measured glass and you would have yo remove everything in ftont with mirror . glass from booster wont be able to fit close enough to sensori its too big.
I sold my 550D and bought canon M , then i bought NEX speed booster/focal reducer and i adapted it to my canon, works nice even clicks into place  :)

There is reason why there's no speedbooster for canon, its because EOS M sold very poorly.Kinda disastrous.

IT works weird, why its picks ISO 800 and shutter 350 when it could be ISO 100 and shutter 60 ? I dont get it. IT should pick lowest ISO first then bump up shutter speed, im overexposed so why bumping up ISO o 350 ?
I kinda figured it ouy but how to leave that exposure so it wont go back to old one after releasing shutter button ? Id like yo use it for video.
Also on EOS M there is no wheel so its not possible to change all values, could you assingn them to something else on this particular model or just let us change values using only one button and arrows ?
