General Chat / Re: GH2/GH3?
December 04, 2012, 08:21:41 AM
I had the gh2 in my hands, because we wanted to do a comercial. After 3 Mins we decided to go on with a ex1.
It s kinda plastic, like a toy. I hate all the diskussions abouth gh2 being so much better for video than canon etc.
There is one thing everybody forgets about, saying the gh2/3 are so special- it s not "full frame".
and even if the picture quality is better than a 5d, the full frame pictures always look different, because the light falls on the chip in a different way.
I am going to check the gh3 tomorrow and compare it to the mkIII

Uh,please nerver buy a flycam!
They are not well built, screws are not in the middle and things like this. you will never get the perfect balance! If you want to spend money on it, safe it and get a stick, that s pretty much the same.

Have you ever heared of glidecam? they are cheap, but very good built.

in my opinion, recording with a good bitrate and even 422 on a card would be ways better, then one of the main reasons to use a dslr is that it s small and handy. you can shoot out of your backpack, or guerilla style.
with a external device these benefits are gone

Hi guys, you checked this: The next Canon Firmware Update will include clean HDMI UNCOMPRESSED out.

Now that I am back from travel I will test it more accurately than I was able on tour.
I also had no green bars on magic zoom, peaking causes a red bar on the left of the screen.
I will film today and see what comes next.
Pretty stable by the way!! I remember some troubles with the first 550 versions, really good job, I really appreciate that!
Oh- when I did th card benchmark the cam turned off after a while an I had to wake it up, there was no text about the speed. Maybe I did something wrong, check it again later

Of course it should run stable at first!
We now have Peaking and Zebras with the Alpha, so there s no need for any external Monitor.
That s a big step for the mkiii!!!

I think there is a lot of room for playing with the bitrate and codec on the mkiii, so optimizing this would seperate it from all other dslrs. especially the gh3, imagine a canon dslr with almost the same sharp picture.
And a clean hdmi out for professional use.
I think these are the most important things to have a eye on after ml runs staple.

Like i postet, used the alpha for 3 hours on a job, it only hung up 1 time.

I tested yesterday during a job,
peaking was perfekt for low light.
Only one time my cam froze, but i can t recreate it... had to put out battery.
i am so happy i don t need en external monitor with peaking!!!

does anyone use this app with a galaxy s2? i am thinking of buying one, because the s3 is too big.
does peaking work?
and how can you deal with the lower framrerate during shooting?
do you think the s2 will have a lower framerate than the s3?
thanks a lot

I would be happy with a version with only peaking and zebras for the beginning, if it would come out fast ;)

That s a good thing, so you can record to several sd cards, even if ml is not on them.
in camera-hdr bracketing is nice, but it would be cool to combine it with interval, so you can do hdr timelapse.
the overlays or a clean hdmi out would definetely be cool, but the most important thing would be zebras and peaking.
I can t wait to test it on my camera! great work!!!

Durin a break, i open the cardslot, the battery slot and even take of the lens for a while. for most cases, that s enough, even with hot weather

5dmk3!!
I definitely would donate again for that!
