just bring your camera to the shop they surely will let you test it to see if it works fine, however my advice search for 70-210mm f4 or a 28-105mm which be a better range for concert shooting 80mm is kind short too.

Not possible , you better just film 1920 and output a 720 version if you want to add digital zooms.

rarely use iso700 though

Hey is that program anything like Nuke? As the workspace of the program kinda looks like it.

Actually didn't knew blender could do video, knew it could do 3d though.

Any possibility to lower the sound bitrate as its should not be using that much as sound recorder still use standard sd cards with way less bitrate than that, as max sound be just 192kb/s

Yeah means should try get hold of some older Canon FD lenses which now bargain price sold everywhere. Just wish Canon would be crazy enough to come out with a full frame Mirrorless camera, cause that be awesome.

General Chat / Cheap Articulating arm camera rig
July 24, 2012, 06:46:39 PM

Just showing this articulating arm rig cause this might be something cool you might want in your gear as its a small and pretty cheap rig to help you film at places you might not be able to use heavy tripods and big rigs. And its fold into a tiny package to carry around unlike big rigs that needs a big suitcase to carry.

The articulating arms are nowaday around 10-30 bucks on ebay.

The base is literally just few bucks

I am originally from Holland also known as the Netherlands but I am currently living and working in a film and photography production studio in Hong Kong and using Magic Lantern for my own camera and mostly my camera becomes the main as it can record clean sound by using Magic Lantern.

I also test allot of the feature and put of tips, tricks and reviews on my youtube Channel Chung Dha which you can visit by following this link http://www.youtube.com/chungdha

Also nice feature is the timelapse which I use allot in corporate videos just to show stuff moving fast.

Recommend Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 atleast can also be used on a full frame later on. As the newest version has a very extreme image stabilization and also lately been amping to use f2.8 on most of my shoots as I feel anything lower the DOF is too thin making it to easy for people to get out of focus and have to refocus too much during the shot while f2.8 still have a nice DOF but everything is also much sharper.

Not sure, but isnt this quite easy to do in post and also in post can get more different range of isolated colors.

As overheating issue is not the sensor overheating as always is the battery discharging, just replace the battery. Another tip is not to carry batteries in your pants as the temperature be same as your body heat just carry inside a bag so they wont be hot before you put in you camera. Lately if you film in full sun it bound to overheat like crazy need to have someone with a umbrella to keep the camera in the shadows to it overheat less.

Still hit the 4gb problem though unless you use sxhc which it can also use. 16gb is rougly 48min. 4gb is 12min.

EOS M and 5D mrkIII

Have to say EOS M is litterally 550D without the mirror, viewfinder, allot of button and added a touchscreen.
Just too bad they left out the flipout screen but probably done that just to be able to upgrade to something in the next version or just to keep the price low or just so it would not compete with the 650D too much.

I ran new 2.3 on 550D with Sandisk extreme PRO 95mb/s and tried out CBR 3x with audio off and it ran quite long till I ran into a too complex scene. But Audio on could only do CBR 1.6x I wonder why the sound recording is taking basically like half the buffer while its should be processing less information than the video part.

The difference is very minimal have tested two guy both using 550D filming continuously one with ML other without. Almost around the same time both ran out of juice. The difference too minute to really care about, if one would have ran out of battery while other still able to work for another half hours than it be interesting just 1 or few minutes I would not even care atleast always carry enough battery to last a full day.

It works still in the new 2.3 version just still got the color shift to green but nothing that bit of color correction cant fix.

General Chat / Tips when your camera overheats
July 20, 2012, 09:29:38 PM

Now its summer you sometimes need to stand in the heat filming long hours so here is a vid with tips, what to do.

1: Replace the battery when you see the overheating icon show up
2: Lessen the amount that you hold the camera grip on the right side by using a rig

So here is a simple guide showing how to change your ISO to ISO25 while normally ISO100 is the standard lowest ISO on most of the Camera's. It increases also a bit of the dynamic range plus also able to let you have more lower ISO range.
