A new mandatory video for all joining members? I think so.

Duplicate Questions / Re: Magic Lantern and 3D

8k is over 30megapixels so we'll see about that :P but that would be great haha.

Look at the thumb print left on that mirror! Nasty!!

If one is going to modify a 550D to have no mirror, they should go all the way and insert an extra microphone (the inbuilt mic is actually able to take a stereo input).

Then remove the flash along with the capacitor used to charge it.
What would be the purpose of removing the flash?

I agree! one lens would look spectacular ;D

General Help Q&A / Re: Blue cast to photos

Also, you can not set it to AWB in the ML menu, so you have to do this in the Canon menu. Took me a little to figure out my self ::)

What kind of camera do you have? That will greatly streamline the process so that people don't post irrelevant data on this thread.

For anybody looking at this, the lens needs to be in manual mode.

General Help Q&A / MLV2CDNG
October 03, 2013, 05:25:36 AM
Hello, I was wondering if there is a MLV2CDNG converter available or in testing. I am not asking when it will be done because I know it will be done when it gets done  ;). I did search around, but if I missed a thread please point me towards it.
Many thanks,
Painya

He's not. It would be 43GB a minute if it wasn't compressed.

He's streaming HDMI from 2 cameras, one would be over exposed and the other underexposed, and then through some math the cameras are positioned so they both shoot the exact same picture (most probably after cropping).

A better way would be a lens that has 2 mounts on it :P so you hang two cameras off one lens, and it splits the image, it's like the opposite of 3D, 1D :P not that that makes any sense, although dynamic range could be considered one dimension.
That is what how many 3d films are shot, except it is basically a intricate placement of mirrors to one lens. http://www.filmmagic.com.hk/images/redcamera/red3dcam01s.jpg

Would Mirror lock up work? http://www.markshelley.co.uk/Astronomy/Projects/Mirrorless/canon550mirrorless.html This is a pretty big step I'm sure you know that. If you have 4,000$ floating around you might consider buying an adapter, but that doesn't seem like as viable of an option as removing your mirror.

Also, for the future, if you have a non-ML card that is freshly formatted, give that a shot so you can keep a clean pair of pants ;)

Apply some color correction and if the problem persists I would love to check it out again.

A little streamline.
Using the same card in two different camera models - possible?
It will work, but we do not recommend doing this. The settings which are camera-specific may not be preserved properly in the configuration file.

@KMA_WCC I'm guessing he sharpened, and on the output he used a custom size. That's what I did and it seemed to work.

General Help Q&A / Re: Recording time

Have you tried it with a non-ml card to see if has anything to do with that? Also, are you recording at a higher bitrate? RAW?

Raw Video / Re: RAW video motion smoothness
September 30, 2013, 01:56:47 AM
Also, if you apply a gaussion (i think) blur with a radius of 1 pixel you won't lose much detail and it will be smooth. Also, just right click-modify-interpret footage- and put in your frame rate. Let me know how that goes.
#292
Why won't formatting the card on a computer work?

I will have to give this a try. You imported your DNG's directly into LR? I know a lot of people just go through camera RAW.

I remember moving files to a "ML.old" folder last time, would that not be enough?

Will try again with last build, erasing everything.
Let me know how that goes. Thanks.

Will the outputs be the same in relation to what? Like native compression rates, RAW video, Or what?

is it worth to do raw videos for YT?
any work arounds for autofocus during video? I've heard that face recognition gives better results but do not yet how to enable it.
Sorry but I have 6d only for 2 weeks now
It depends what you are shooting. If it is landscape and it is very important for it to look the best possible I'd say yes. But if it is mostly as a hobby I'd learn how to color correct very well.
#298
Well it's a nightly build it's bound to have some quirks  ;)
#299
I'm not sure if this is an issue, but when you format on your computer are your settings FAT or exFAT? I know FAT should always work with canon cameras, and select models work with exFAT.

Hi guys,
two questions
1. what are the benefits of raw video?
2. is it somehow possible to have autofocus during video recording.
I'm talking about 6D camera

Thanks in advance

I'm sorry, it looks like there is no possible continuous autofocus while video recording.
And as for the RAW shooting here is a comparison http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xu-UJ6kRwt8
With RAW video there is more dynamic range, and there is a lot more latitude for correcting the image in post. However the workflow has a bit of a learning curve and the file sizes are huge.
