By the way ... ReWind ... extreme finde hack-version! works well on my 550d!
in post the quality is amazing ... still one question.

i shot in 1472x420@24fps (canon set to 720p/50fps).
Scaling it up to HD (ie 1280x720) looks fantastic!

How do i have to export (codec?) without loosing the quality?

Okay, i think raw ist best to get Details.
I thought special pic styles would be Importend for Color grading... Or isnt it because the raw Format?

By the way... Is there a special grading tut for shots made outside?

Using raw i think it would be best to have a Main res of full Hd to get best quality... How its about the Resolution?

I think about
24 fps, 180degrees shatter, pic style (but which?). Recording times around 15 seconds would be ok.

In post the whole Image Should get a mystetious look. A little bit fantasy style.

What Do you think?

Hi there!

I want to record a Very short Clip (about 30 seconds) with my eos 550d using my 50mm 1:1.8 lens.
This will be done outside on a big field with some trees in the Background.
There is me rising my hands up in the air. In post i will add some fire and grounddirt...

For a nice sky Ill use nd-filters.

I want to ask you for helping me to decide several things :

Generally... Should i use raw Mode or QuickTime?
The thing is.. What settings would you take?

Is it useful to use a special picture preset  (flat, cinematic, marvel, etc)? If so, what is the better thing for grading a later Moment?

For temporary Exports... What would be the right Codec?

Please help me to manage the right Setup for me. Also... If you have any Tipps and Tricks for me Ill use them!

Greets!

Shoot Preparation / Re: how to get cinema-movement?
August 05, 2013, 01:08:58 AM
Thank you for answers and Interesting stuff. Maybe its right. The Kind of Sensor records movment in an other way then Filmcameras does.
The question is.. How can i simulate this?

I found out that flat pic profiles help to give a better optic and Color grading look s just great on this.
And im sure that this things will subjective affect the way we See things.

So the movment is a Very little bit more like on real Film!

I also tryed to record with less fps to make it need to interpolate missing frames to about 24 fps. By this way i wanted to get a different motion style... I had to learn it isnt working :-D.

A good thing is adding a Post motion blur with high quality. I think reel smart is a good one.

The secret of cinematic motion is Very Interesting.. And Hard to explain what i mean.

I think the next days i make a short shot.. Me just working from one side to the other. Maybe some one finds out how to make this motion look like filmed on a real 35mm System ;-).

Good night @all.

No this were done in postprocess ... i dont know how i can change the EV for recording ... maybe this is one of my mistakes?
I mean, could it be that there is any automatic correction-option (perhaps in regular camerasettings or ML) i didnt see and didnt disable?

The other pictures will be shot in about 1,5 hours.

To make everything right:
What ISO, focus, close-time (1/50), should i use for video+photo?

Allright! Ill check this that evening the same time.
Using main photo-function the quality will be perfect.
Do i have to reduce main picture resolution to the same as the video had?

As i saw ML has also an ISO-Value for analog ISO-configuration. Maybe some settings are wrong?

I checked a lot low-lighting-videos on youtube and was wondering how good the results were using the main video-recording-feauture (without ML). Or do you think in most case people used such denoise like neat-video to optimize their clips?

Hi there.
Is there any way to import the DNG-Sequence or the xyz.RAW-File in VirtualDub?
Using google just brought me that RawSource-Plugin - but its not working with our 14bit-Raw-Files.

So, if you know a way/script/trick to do it please tell me :)

Shoot Preparation / how to get cinema-movement?
July 24, 2013, 01:59:10 PM
Hi!
I know, the right light, using steady cams or stabilizers, the right sound ... everything is importend to have a good movie-like look.

But it doesnt matter how good the set is up- people and object movements allways look like VIDEO - not like cinema!

Why is this?

Decreasing the playback tempo or framerate will bring more cinema-feeling, but everything is moving slower.  Its not the same like we can see on a cinema-screen!
Is there any other option like a special shatter-setting or anything else to get that classic film-cinematic-feeling?

Allright ... still looks awesome :)! good done!

I see the quality is very good ... my kit objective is not good for recording INSIDE.
What lens would be good for me (i need something around 18-24mm).
Is there a good cheap one (autofocus is NOT A MUST).

Thanks!

Raw Video / Re: 550D Bad Video Quality?
July 23, 2013, 12:01:54 PM
Allright, ill try my f50 1.8 lens from canon.

How do i have to make the settings?
as i can see changing the original cam-menu resolution affects the ML-settings.
Its irritating me :D.

Any other tipps. Maybe someone let me know good settings for iso, focus, shatter, FPS ...
A shatter from 50 gives me much motion blurr- or is it a lighting problem, too and the other lens will reduce it a little?

Thank you for helping!

Raw Video / 550D Bad Video Quality?
July 22, 2013, 10:46:02 PM
Hi!

Im trying to make some nice videos using ML with my 550D.
But i allways have much noise in my footage.
I think im on wrong setup of my cam.
However, hoping to find some help and tipps here!

Using a 35-128mm Kit objective 3.5-5.6 IS

I mean, what are the right settings to record iE 1080p 25/24 FPS?
Is there a special thing on how much the apperature value is set or the shatter (i know 2xFPS).
Whats about  HIGH ISOs .. they are very noisy in a little bit dark rooms.

Do i have to make 2 settings for the resolution? 1st the main resolution and after that the ML RAW option?

I would need a very beginners step-by-step tutorial from some one.

Thank you!

Regards,
Dennis
