Camera-specific Development / Re: Canon 5D Mark IV

I was thinking the same before but when 5D4 doesn't have 5 axis stabilisation then I believe it's a bit to much to ask for. I'm not a developer so I can't really say, but my indication is that the cam is to close to 5D3 for al the work. Please correct me if I'm wrong!

I love my 5d IV, it is a really solid camera. I haven't touched my 5d3 in quite awhile, but use it as a backup when necessary, or for RAW video. Not sure why you would think that a camera without 5 axis stabilization isn't worthy of a ML port  ???

Hey A1ex, I exceeded 5 PMs per hour and can't send right now. The Firmware Jump didn't appear to do anything, which I imagine is intentional.

I just purchased the Canon 24mm TS-E II, will definitely check this out, thanks!

I am having the exact same problem, same error code importing into After Effects version 13.7.1.6. Searching for a solution, I may try it on another computer.

Edit: Tried it on my laptop and it worked fine, running After Effects version 12.2.1.5

Realistically, what would it take to get ML on the 5ds or 1dx, if it is possible? Are there any devs that actually own a 1dx or 5ds? The 1dx ii is right around the corner and CR is speculating 4k at 60fps. Whether or not ML appears on the 1dx ii greatly influences my decision to purchase, you guys have spoiled us!

On a side note, they are working to fix the broken highlights with CDNGs files in Premiere Pro, voice your opinion here if you'd like:

It appears they are working on a fix:

I hope it works out in our favor.

What Raw2Cdng Converter are you using? or is it RawMagic ?
From my test the only 16bit Cdng the works is the raw2cdng v1.4.9 from chmee
RawMagic has the pink hi-light problem also, it's because the color matrix has been change
to emulate blackmagic cinema camera etc... so I have found that  raw2cdng v1.4.9 dose not have this
change. And to note there also work perfectly in Final Cut Pro X 10.1.1.
Just try a different converter and see if it's still a problem.

I am using Rawmagic, but pink highlights or not - I still want to use ACR.

It is a shot in the dark, but I hope someone from Adobe will respond.  If anyone wants to add to it, that would be greatly appreciated:

Will anything ever beat Adobe Camera Raw?

martin_a is correct, in Premiere Pro CC 2014 the intended workflow for all 'raw' footage is to import CinemaDNG then grade in Speedgrade - not in ACR. This is the only way to deliver realtime hardware-accelerated playback - the rendering engines in Sg and Pr are Mercury-enabled whereas the ACR "develop" module route is an old-school frame server. Because you can now pass a project back and forth between Sg and Pr it doesn't matter which one you start in.

If you really want to stay with ACR then pipe your footage through an After Effects comp - but of course you'll lose MPE playback.

Wow, I can't wait to try the SpeedGrade workflow.  I am crossing my fingers that it has highlight / shadow recovery comparable to ACR!

Not sure, what are you talking about, because 16 bit cdngs are imported in CC 2014 exactly the same way they did in CC 7.2.
I mean they used to import perfectly fine a long time ago.

I get a pink color cast in CC 7.2

Just check out the Premiere Pro CC(2014), and I have to say a very Big Improvement
You no longer need to Use 12bit Cdng's as now 16bit Cdng's are now supported without any issue, I imported
Cdng's from Raw2Cdng v1.4.9 from chmee at 16bit as these are the only ones that work in FCPX. No Pink hi-light or green cast.
There is some Raw like controls Called (File Source Settings) Temp, Tint, Exposure, right click on the imported Cdng File and these setting come up.  8)
Audio is synced automatically, It at a point where I think a will try a serious project with it, as I'm a FCPX user this is looking Very good for Raw only project.
As you can't beat FCPX on ProRes (.mov) base project !
This is impressing me a lot, I think adobe is starting to get it right finally .

Thanks for the heads up on the "File Source Settings" that is pretty cool.  However, I still would like to edit first in Camera Raw or Lightroom, it doesn't appear to be reflecting these changes (tried replace footage, editing original, ect)

I just imported 16bit CinemaDNGs from RawMagic and there is no pink color cast!

Edit: However, it is flat and doesn't update when changes are made in ACR.

Is this still being tested or is it merged already?

Thank you, but it is still not a RAW file - so I can't go through the whole workflow :(

But we are getting closer :)

Do you, by any chance, still have any RAW straight from card?

That's a nice cat, by the way :)

Here is a Raw file straight out of camera (718mb) enjoy!

Edit: Please let me know when you have downloaded the file so I can remove it.

Not sure what to make of this, or how it could effect Magic Lantern.

- a shame that ARC is not available as in AE.

Have you tried right clicking on the dng and clicking "Edit Original"?  It opens ACR for me.

As many know, there will be an update to Premiere Pro CC on October 15th.  This update brings back DNG support and many other features:

"New native file format support for Cinema DNG, Sony RAW, Phantom Cine, improved MJPG from Canon 1DC, Sony XAVC Long GOP, Panasonic AVC Ultra (Long GOP), 64 bit ProRes decoding (Mac OS X 10.8 or higher only), and support for exporting XAVC up to 4K and AVCi200 is included, and Cinema DNG can be debayered on a supported GPU for even better performance.

Another recent update is the ability to render multiple sequences.  I think this new feature can really help those that are importing DNG sequences into Premiere because they can now render all their shots out, skipping After Effects (not sure how well playback will be while scrubbing through DNG sequences, they may not even need to be RENDERED!)

Raw Video / Re: How to review RAW footage?

Yeah, well...I think you just answered your own question then. What part of the word "hack" doesn't register?

If you're using ML on a pro shoot with a client who is paying you money to perform a critical service, I think the term "hack" should be applied to you!

I think the keyword there is "critical"

If they are looking over your shoulder and wanting to review the footage, then yes, using ML probably isn't the best idea for a paid gig.  However, if you are shooting a lot of broll stuff, I say hack on.

Hi derkiki, any chance for spanned 4gb files?? Raw Magic seems to have had it for a while now, so you could ask those guys how they did it if its problematic? Best regards and keep up the good work. James

The first post in this thread by Derkiki mentions:

"Spanning will be added, RAW2DNG seems to have problems with it right now."

Try out son of a batch. Also very good converter

Son of batch is indeed a very good converter.  You can actually preview the .raw files and set In / Out points.  However, there isn't support for spanned files - YET!
