With this card: http://www.amazon.de/SecureDigital-Capacity-Speicherkarte-Frustfreie-Verpackung/dp/B00422J0CG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1372608707&sr=8-1&keywords=sandisk+sdhc

I have sandisk extreme pro 45mbs but my benchmark is lower than spider.  Write is about 20...

I have no clue why spider have a very fast r/w  benchmark

My Raw video recording 1280x720,  24p only 4 second.

Guys how to format exfat in SDcard?

is it:  format(exfat) in PC/mac > Format low level format in ML >  copy all files that needed to install ML > firmware update > create boot disk sdcard ?

but if apply like that, in my disk utility (mac) it said that the card is formated by msdos Fat, not exFAT  ???

Hi all,

I've been following the thread for a few months, now I'm ready to give it a shot with this alpha.  I have 2 questions with regards to installation, excuse my ignorance I just don't want to make any mistakes.

1. I'm using macboot on a mac.  When I open it, what exactly do I need to do? I have my sd card in the computer, I'm just wondering if I need to check anything before I click "prepare card"

2. Does it matter that I'm using Canon firmware 1.0.1?

Thanks again to everyone who helped make ML on T4i possible.

checked the option: Make dslr-bootable and then Prepare card
firmware 1.0.1 is the only firmware that can run ML 650D

if you are using os  10.8 then you have to run macboot.command

Maybe redirect raw video process and quality conversation here....
http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=5780.75

sorry for my bad english.   :-[
What I mean is the best quality for recording a video using 650D is:
1. Raw video. Biggest file. files handling is more complicated. (2,5 GB per minute)
2. Using Bit Rate in ML menu. Right now Im using CBR 1,2x.  ==> big file (1,3 GB for 3 minutes video)
I never used/experiment with VBR but I think this is very promising. having a good quality video with smaller file size
3. Standard canon video default

its only my oppinion...  ;D

thank you, see that right there was some very useful information, okay I will shoot with the cannons settings, I have an ultra 64gb card and an extreme 32gb and an extreme 16gb card to use during the filming and shoots.

Maybe you can play the cbr setting.  I have panasonic gh2 hacked and personally i love the contrast and color of my gh2 than any 5dmk2 video.  (Not raw video just plain canon).  And basically the hacked gh2 is to improve the bitrate video, the file becomes larger than standard. The file containt more information like color,  dynamic range,  and others.

Well i havent experiment the cbr setting in ml menu.  But i think this option is 2nd best option besides than ml raw video. And the last t
Option i want to record is using canon/standard video. The quality is not as good as my gh2 hacked. Although it only micro 4/3.

I wish for the next build the dev team manage to make shoot_malloc total larger than 95m ;D so the camera can record 720p 24p continously raw video more stable...

Thank you very much for the screenshot :)

Only 91 Megabyte Shoot_Malloc ... My EOS 600D has 103 Megabyte Shoot_Malloc (With "Pic Quality" set to "SRAW". Otherwise it's only 75 Megabyte). The EOS 60D's Shoot_Malloc is 280 Megabyte big. I hoped the 650D/700D would lay somewhere in between those two.
The "Pic Quality" setting should be in the "Shoot" tab. Can you set it to "SRAW" and "MRAW"? Or is the 600D the only XXXD with this feature? I know that the 550D doesn't have it, because it was too buggy.

Make sure to reboot the camera or switche the mode dial after you changed the "Pic Quality" setting (If it exists on your cameras). Otherwise it won't change the buffer size.

EDIT: Here is a screenshot of the 600D's "Shoot" tab. I hope yours look similar Shoot | Google Drive

hei how do you guys -printscreen your menu  ;D sory OOT

720p 1860frames without dropping. it dropped the 1861th frame. :)

i used to record ~20seconds with my 45mb/s card until drop a frame.

yeah 95mb/s is a huge improvement.

how big your total files (1860 frames) ? If you try to record raw video second times, is there any change ? or it will dropped again at exactly 1861 frame? and have you formatted your card to ex-Fat ?

well i wonder what card did kmcray use that can make 2500 frames.

i just bought a "32gb Sandisk Extreme Pro Sd 95mb/s" and i've made some tests with it.

now i can record 1579frames (1minute 4-5 seconds) of 1280x720p raw until it skips a frame.

i use the ML build 14.06.13 and raw_rec.mo is made in 21.06.13

i ll make some tests with newer builds soon. nanomad has said 1280x720p continious is possible with a decent sd card but i couldnt make it. (i don't know if sandisk extreme pro 95mb/s isn't decent what is...)

edit: i just tested satriani's 28.06.13 build and got 1860frames.

wow so its a big difference between sandisk 45mbs and 95mbs
Ok iwill invest that card.
1860/24=77, 5sec

1860frame 720p24 without drop frames?  Or it records continously after that?

It records at 1280 x 720 at 24p at 36.8 MB/s
And you can use 1600 x 900 at 15 FPS at 36 MB/s, that's all I've tried so far

There is a pink dot removal tool in development that you can download here http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=6658.new#new

yeah I know about the magnificent pink removal tool. but I read the latest changelog build Satriani https://www.dropbox.com/sh/hxsv61cq992egmy/qFWy7q9VZA/ChangeLog.txt
