After 10 days of riding a motorcycle around Trenggalek (East Java, Indonesia) while bringing Glidecam hd 2000, and the Canon 650D with Magic Lantern installed  (CBR settings = 2.5). I am shooting a best tourist spots in Trenggalek.

I am very satisfied with the results I have achieved with my glidecam, I really love my Glidecam. But I use a cheap lens (kit lens + wide converter) so the image less sharp and it caused barrel distortion.

But anyway I love the process and the result of my work. Ladies and Gentlements This is Trenggalek....

If PDR works for you then yes, otherwise use a1ex's raw2dng_cs2x2_whitefix.exe which removes the pink dots and converts to dng in the same step.

what is the difference between raw2dng_cs2x2, with raw2dng_cs2x2_whitefix?

And in what cases Pink Dot removal will be better than  raw2dng_cs2x2 ?

So Guys, which one is better ? A1ex Raw2DNG with chroma smoothing or PDR ?
I have tried it both, but i don't see any difference. But With Raw2DNG cs2x2 it makes the workflow more simple

is there any case that Raw2DNG with chroma smoothing will create artifact in a picture?

I nearly trade my 650D for 50D, until a1ex introduce raw2dng with chroma smoothing. Its a great program. it makes the workflow more simple.  :)
but there's so many version, so which one is the best for raw rec v1 with resolution 1280x720 ?  :o

raw2dng cs2x2
raw2dng cs2x2 ahdlike noise
raw2dng cs2x2 whitefix

Sure, and you're lucky : I've timed most of the process !

Precisely, I've shot 11min12sec of RAW at 1476x626 (16 251 frames@24fps), for about 25GB on the memory card.

- The raw2cinema DNG (using RAW Magic on osx) took me 12min21sec (I ran the process directly from the rushes on the memory card and sets the output on the hardrive). Output 28GB of DNG (not 25 due to the 14bits > 16bits conforming I guess).
- PinkDotRemover tooks 34min44 (And gives me another 28GB of dots-free DNG). I used search expression (which I don't remember sorry) to selects all DNG without initial underscore (_) and delete them in order to keep only the dots free DNG.
- Finally, After Effects exports all rushes in uncompressed 8bit color-graded videos within 2h10 (Output : 39.7GB, always in 1476x626).

So globally, processing a RAW file from .RAW to 8bit video takes 15min for 1 minutes of shooting.

I haven't timed the final editing process (done with Premiere pro), but it was fast as all rushes were already processed in uncompressed 8 bits videos.

Same here... but mine 1 min video raw took about +/- 20 minute. It makes me think twice to record along project with raw.

Pink dot remover takes aloooot of time...
I hope someday developer team make a new version that we dont have to use pink dot remover to clean the dead pixels.  Is it possible 650d to have a clean raw video ?

I know this doesn't answer any of your question, but if I can just give my opinion, I don't think the T4i is worth an upgrade over a T2i. I own a T4i and have used a T2i, and they're so similar that I think you would be much better off saving up some more and making a more substantial upgrade, like to a 6D. I know it's quite a jump in price, but if you're really itching to replace your T2i, I'd do that over getting another Rebel (and probably over getting any other crop-sensor Canon right now).

But t4i and 6d have the same card read/write speed.  So you can use sandisk extreme or extreme pro.  If you use your camera for video,  upgrading from t2i to t4i is a big thing.  Because you can use RAW VIDEO which is very amazing.

Both t4i and 6d have the same resolution raw video,  which is hd video.  Cmiiw.

Yes, the installer (or any canon update for that matter) won't work on cards bigger than 32 GB

This build has everything enabled.

I hope the problem on 64gb card will fix soon

Can anyone recommend me a fast but reasonably priced SD card :)

Buy sandisk extreme 45mbs card.
If you have more money buy sandisk extreme pro

white balance question:

under color panel, master settings, does switching "decoding using" from "project" to "clip" and changing the color space to "BMD" properly white balance the footage?

i know about the auto color tool, but it doesn't seem to white balance it properly.
am i doing something wrong?

You have to doit manually.
There is no a kelvin color ballance.
Use the rgb parrade and waveform monitor to know what is your video color dominance and try to add or substract the color using color wheel

Sorry for all of the posts in a row.  I see that some have had problems with the 64 gig card.  I was going to try this today.  Don't really see why it would not work.   Utube has an example and the only different right now for us is how the fir file is copied to the card.   Thoughts?

Dave

I dont have a trouble with 64 gig card.  Ive formatted my card to exfat so i can record more than 4gb files.  Im using a slow card,  32mb read and 20mb write.

Huh? The video is not set to private  :o
I checked it on a different browser (without being logged in to youtube) and it works there too... Maybe server problems...

I cant watch it either...

Is it normal that I got incredibly noisy footage ? I'm shooting in Night Clubs at ISO10 000, and with H264 it is totally usable, but with RAW it looks awful. Bad interpretation of Resolve ? Or is it normal ? ( I use a 5D Mk III )

same here... really noisy...
still using adobe camera raw to do noise reduction and basic correction, in resolve lite they dont have NR

Can you please tell me if this card works fine with 1280x560 24p ?

95mb/s cards are too expensive for me and I'm thinking of getting this one.

P.S.  I can purchase 95mb/s 8 GB or 45mb/s 32 GB and It will be great if someone can recommend me ^^. Thanks in advance!

If you bought 8gb card trying to record a raw video,  than you only got +/-  4 minutes before your card is full.  I dont think its a good idea.

I'd already done this.

I can't seem to get a screengrab of the benchmark that mdfaisal posted. How do you do this? When I run the 5min benchmark
I get writespeed buffer 2048K 31.0 Mb/s
Read speed 2048K 118.0 Mb/s
which doesn't match mdfaisals posting.

Than try to buy a new card :D
If you read my previous post,  i bought sandisk extreme pro 45mbs 16gb that only get writespeed 21mbs >:(  i think its a fake card.  After using sandisk extreme 45 mbs i get writespeed almost the same as spider.

I think sandisk extreme 45mbs is the most affordable card that 650d can have 720p at 24fps raw video. But you have to disable global draw.

I dont know whether sandisk extreme pro can record 720p with global draw turn on.
I think we should ask members who has sandisk extreme pro 95mbs.

Hi,

I'm getting the following results with a Transcend SDHC UH1 32Gb card in a Canon 650D:

1280x720
16:9
card warm up off
small hacks off

The following frame runs:

1728
1491
1126
1665

Not bad for an approx. 36 m/s (benchmarked) low cost card. Good to know a faster card will give continuous 1280 x 720.

ML rocks!

Try to dissable global draw.

I Think I can confirm that 1280 x 720 24p, can record continously in raw video

im using
http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Extreme-Class-Memory-SDSDX-016G-X46/dp/B0037FLUYU

1. Im formated my new card with exFat in diskutility (im using mac)

2. Im using satriani 1st july, and copy all files from my old memory card (DCIM, ML, Misc, Rom.dat, autoexec.bin, 650 safe dumper) in to a new card

3.  open macboot to create bootdisk in my new card, and prepare a card

4. put my new card in 650D and running ML

5. disable global draw

6. start recording raw video 1280 x 720, 24p

7. record until my card full

First Try:

left is my file size (more than 15 gb)
right is my my available free disk space

Second try:

I can confirm spider's benchmark numbers.

If you have an USB 3.0 cardreader you can test your card with something like CrystalDiskMark (Windows only).
It is possible - sadly - that your card is a fake.

Ciao, Walter

using this card http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Extreme-UHS-1-Memory-SDSDXP1-016G-X46/dp/B004JJN262

my card is fake isnt it ?  :'(

idont have USB 3.0 card reader. maybe i will check it latter another time
