Camera-specific Development / Re: Canon 650D / T4i
October 12, 2017, 12:25:54 AM

Tested on a 650D with dforts crop_rec_4k.2017Oct11.650D104.zip

loaded mlv-lite
loaded crop-rec
loaded silent

set 14bit lossless on a fast SD card
Crop Rec Enabled
Tried 1920x1080 but camera set itself to 1792x1008
Recording had red light on all the time - but managed 410 frames.

As you can see there are some problems with the picture but this is very encouraging. Thank you.

(The mlv is being viewed through MLV.App.v0.8.alpha.OSX.zip)

I tried 1280x720 14bitLossless but the same block scan line patterning is still there.

Just to say - am really impressed with build 89. (and the magic of magic lantern).

Finally I can get to see my 650D 10bit MLV's in all their glory - no focus pixels visible.
tested at 1440 x 810 @ 25fps.

Thanks to everyone for this extraordinary achievement.

I can confirm the same behaviour of this app under 10.11.6 - rendering it unusable.

I was wondering if it has something to do with the GPU? I've tried this on a 2012 mac mini which has an internal Intel 'gpu' and with a Macbook Pro which has Nvidia GPU hardware - the Macbook seems less unstable - though still unusable. i.e it still only dispays a corrupted pink screen but doesn't crash when interacting with the sliders.

Testing using a 650D at 10bits. Haven't yet tried other bit depths.

As requested from http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=5601.msg178087#msg178087

here a sample 14bit dng from a 650D.104.

https://mega.nz/#!OlFnXLKY!gMXfH7JmxRODOsqS9Klvsao3Yd02kj4SwteyY-rHOgg

using magiclantern-raw_video_10bit_12bit.2017Jan13.650D104

14bit
no other modules loaded
over exposed still frame from a short mlv.
extracted using mlv_dump --dng --no-fixcp --no-stripes *.MLV

The tearing from earlier builds has now gone which is great.

Amazing work - many thanks.

@dfort - thanks for the recent 650D update - (magiclantern-raw_video_10bit_12bit.2016Dec12.650D104.zip).

10bit RAW 1280 x 720 works continuously - only issue are the focus pixels and some image tearing but I'm not using my fastest SD card.

With the MLV sound added to this the video is very choppy.

Bug:

Focus peaking on liveview in movie mode - very slow screen refresh rate - which also appears in video recordings (non raw).
Magic zoom works fine in movie mode.

Try to dissable global draw.

I'd already done this.

I can't seem to get a screengrab of the benchmark that mdfaisal posted. How do you do this? When I run the 5min benchmark
I get writespeed buffer 2048K 31.0 Mb/s
Read speed 2048K 118.0 Mb/s
which doesn't match mdfaisals posting.

Not sure if focus peaking and zebras were working in previous satriani ML builds - but they are now. (15.07.2013)

Feels like the 650D port is coming together nicely.

Be great to get a less flickery magic zoom - it sort of worries me :)

Hi,

I'm getting the following results with a Transcend SDHC UH1 32Gb card in a Canon 650D:

1280x720
16:9
card warm up off
small hacks off

The following frame runs:

1728
1491
1126
1665

Not bad for an approx. 36 m/s (benchmarked) low cost card. Good to know a faster card will give continuous 1280 x 720.

ML rocks!

Thank you for developing the PinkDotRemover - it works perfectly.

Now I can use my 650D to make beautiful 1280 x 720 raw movies.

Hi,

Incredible work being done here. 720p RAW continuous on a 650D!!! I'm in!  :)

I have a few questions:

1. It seems that the 650D will handle exFAT formatted SDXC cards. http://www.photoplusmag.com/2013/01/08/free-canon-memory-card-compatibility-chart/. Do the developers think that these cards will make a difference on the 650D given yesterdays news on the 6D dev forum re. exFAT format cards: http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=3904.2275. Or they think that the 650D bandwidth limits will prevent this impacting on write performance? I'm thinking of getting a Transcend 64GB Ultimate SDXC UHS-I 600x 45Mbs write speed card.

2. Will there be a ML RAW format with a low res audio guide track embedded? Even with external digital audio tracks it can be useful to have a guide track when editing? Or SMPTE timecode maybe? Or is that just too old fashioned...

3. Out of interest, what is left to do on the 650D port before it goes to Beta status?

Cheers,

saul
