I do agree most of my issues were in post. But I do think the linear lines of architecture show the stretch like Levas has mentioned.

Yes its less then 1080px, but it depends on what interpolate settings you use for upscale to 1080p height.

I think you can get smooth result and think those architecture lines is postprocessing issue to.

And I think it isnt the footage that is wrong as title says. Its the post processing.

Using crop_rec_4k_mlv_snd_isogain_1x3_presets_2020May29.5D3123.zip i could record  non stop  anamorphic  12 bit losless  3840x1632  with realtime preview .[url]/url]
recording  in anamorphic 12 bit losless 5760x2232 recording stopped after 10 seconds

Hi again,

For me when using UHD width 12-bit isnt availible. I can only use 14-bit when using increased resolution like 3840px. What framerates are you using?

I've got 14-bit 3840x960 23.976fps with sound working. 3:1 ratio would be nicer then 4:1 but the data rate seams a bit high then. Sound doesnt take up much space but I've tried without. But I dont think 12-bit is possible when using 3840px?

Rewatched it and I have to say I love the colors! Ofcourse real UHD looks much better then 1080p but colorwise and workflow I'am very happy now.

Dont want to buy another camera but a Pocket 4k with a expensive speedbooster would be cool, but thats for UHD/4k, I'am more then happy with 5D3 1080p.

High noise is not only about ISO and exposure I think different types of grading and raise shadows much can introduce a lot of noise, different components affect noise in different ways. I think he uses ACR in After Effects right now

Works exactly like the other build but with all the benefits.
But then again. Not so important after all with all that resolution even when it's there in front of you.

Yes sorry. It was so many new settings when coming from an old build. UHD with 1.5x crop looks great. To bad UHD looks so good ;)

Is any sort of preview possible while recording 3840px?

I set the resolution to 4096 and in menu it says 3840 is max and choose 3840px after restart which is good.

Any previewing possible while recording?

That is super cool! I would really like to try that 3840px lossless. Do you zoom in x5 to get preview?

Sorry I'm getting so caught up in this! I guess my curiosity gets the best of me! Thanks for all the useful info, and well made points! @reddeercity, the highest 3x3 horizontal resolution in the 10/12bit build is 1856px. Is 1872px available in your experimental Crop_rec build?

Just want to point that out since those wide pixels is on topic. First thing I would think that it doesnt matter for quality if its 1856 px or 1872 px you still need some upscaling in post and upscaling is a tiny bit of quality loss. I would watch videos and find a video you like the quality off and check that workflow and recording settings. The 5D3 records 1920 wide. But here in Sweden it looks like its still expensive almost twice as 5D2.

Looks awesome! Where can I find that build?

Check post number #4 in this thread

I think loading CDNG in Premiere Pro is a bad choice. Yes Resolve is fun, but as with every new app it takes some time to learn.

Hey, I'm also new to ML on the 5D3. I'd love to get just 10-bit. Don't really need 12 or 14 at the moment. I'm gonna look into this CropRec module. What's your experience with it so far - any issues?

I'am not new to Magic Lantern, I've used ML for 6 years with my 5D but only at 1080p 14-bit raw. I think the quality of that setting is cool to and like it a lot. My experience with higher resolution is minimal.

I bypass RAW video bitdepth settings. Keep that to 14bit lossless. Instead change to 10 or 12 bit under the Crop mode sub menu. These changes will apply to all crop rec presets.

OK cool! I understand its much work in this! I also read preview broken. Image quality seams awesome but I think I stick with regular 1080p and go back to previous build and count my 5D3 as a 1080p camera since I need to preview what I'am shooting.

I was just reading from all the settings in the camera with this build, I know I have a lot to read thru. But my question still is from the menu, RAW VIdeo - Data Format - 14-bit lossless and read in there "14-bit compressed with Canon's Lossless JPEG". Well if it was a bad question I can read the thread.

Thank you Muanthang! Can you use this mode without using the x5 zoom in fuction while recording to see the hole sensor?

12-bit lossless saves out jpegs?

Walter, I don't think small portion of upscaling looks good thats why.

ilia3101 will look into that! Thank you!

M3 = Canon EOS M3 or Canon EOS 5D Mark III?

Yes haha good confusion i made, 5D Mark III yes.

And on topic I would worry about upscaling small portion its a quality decrease to go from 1880 to 1920 width, isnt it better to upload with blackborders around?

1x and fullframe is different things. If you going to shoot fullframe i can recommed the M3, maybe its still expensice tho idk.

Ok I see, thank you!

A bit off topic but whats the reason the max width resolution is 3520px in cropmode and not higher?

3840px width for example would be super cool!

If you test in movie mode numbers are lower. Highest numbers will be seen in photo mode only.

Hi! Thank you! You are supposed to run in photo mode, that made some difference post image below. 119.8 MByte/s seams to be max for my card. Close to the 136 Mbyte/s from card reader to PC.

Fastest 5D3 benchmark numbers for write are above 120 MByte/s.

Basic math applies. 2 is 16.7 percent of 12 and 14.3 percent of 14.

Hi yes thats true about bitdepth and math but just wanted to state that, ok not necessary to do tests tho.

120 Mbyte/s write speed sounds awesome! Can you link to a thread?

I can only get 90 MByte/s write speed in camera. But when testing in USB3 reader to PC i get 136 MByte/s write speed and 153 MByte/s read speed. From a Lexar 1066X. But that's when doing simple benchmark in camera with standard settings. When I record it often says its recording in 102 MByte/s so I'am not shure about that.

If you don't mind sending a link it would be great so I can increase the speed here to :)

Thanks, have a good day!

I think 116 megabytes/s is the read speed?
5D3 interface is slower then the card.

Most important what vertical resolution do you choose with 3.5k raw?

There is a modest filesize difference between 14-bit and 12-bit, on my test the filesize difference is only 17%.

Looked a bit more and found it. Fullframe 12 bit seams possible

Raw Video / Would like to try 5D3 10 bit & 12 bit
June 14, 2020, 01:52:20 PM
Hi forum members,

I would like to try 10 bit and 12 bit recording with my 5D3,

Right now I'am running 2018 07 03 5D 1.2.3 build.

Is 10 bit and 12 bit recording availible in fullframe recording or croprec only?

Thanks so much!!! Where should I set the adaptation slider? What's the difference of a low value and a high value?

Try, and you will see where
