Well, I have an idea. I know it is dangerous to add more than 3 custom picture profiles via a hack, but what if we could get around that ? What is ML would store in it's own directory on the SD card how many picture profiles we want, and we simply load them from a ML menu into one custom slot, ML would only replace one of those three custom profiles just like the EOS Utility does. It would not require any hacks to that dangerous part of the memory where the default picture profiles are stored, simply from a ML menu, we manipulate one custom profile slot, and ML only writes and deletes profiles on that slot just like the EOS Utility does. So we could have 100 picture profiles stored on the SD card, that only ML manipulates from it's menu, and we simply load them into memory just like the EOS Utility does, on a custom slot.

So basically ML would emulate what the EOS Utility does when it changes a custom picture profile, the only difference being that instead of loading the file from the hard drive, we load the file from the SD card via a ML menu.

That would be a great improvement, I mean, I have about 20 good and useful picture profiles, and it is a real big pain in the a** to always connect the camera to the pc only to load them.

I was thinking, won't it be possible to have a feature that would keep the image focused in case of zooming ? If for instance you are now at 17mm focused right on, and you zoom to 50mm, the image is no longer focused right, but won't it be possible somehow for magic lantern to maintain the right focus all the way through zoom ? You can calculate the amount of focus correction necessary for a given x mm, like when you go from 18 to 50mm, you can calculate how much focus correction is needed between 18 and 50mm, that way magic lantern could maintain the focus.

The original footage was shoot with Tragic Lantern v1, with these settings: Cinestyle, ISO 1600, sound off, 30p, DblockA/B -6,-6, picqPC 0, GOP1, JP Slice 87, Slice Lock: enabled, MinBR :130, Max:160, Drop By 1: 140, drop by 3: 145, Taper rates: disabled.

Then it was imported in After Effects, levels adjusted + magic bullet looks, then exported to H.264 @ 20.000 kb/s.

Then of course youtube demolished the quality by compressing it at ~8 mbs.

So, can we use an Android tabled as a field monitor alternative ? I have searched on google for more details on this subject and I didn't find to much info.

On the market these days there are tablets with mini/micros hdmi ports, can we connect these tablets to the camera hdmi and get a high res video image on the tablet ?

Or if we connect the tablet to the camera on the usb port, does this kind of solution work as an alternative for a field monitor ? What do you guys know about this ?
