Yes, it would be :)

I'm planning, but not at the moment.  Hopefully I will get everything till November.
If it works great, I will do a quick review and let you know guys ;)

Nyrius Pro looks solid, but there's also cheaper transmitters:

In my case, there would be a little distance between camera and monitor, so maybe this cheap alternative could easily do the job. But I'm not sure.
Have to remember: you get what you pay for.

Yes, but I've came up with 2 ways to do this, both will cost the same(if you already have a laptop) and will allow to view on 13 inch screen.

1st is to buy - = 200$
This is the only low cost monitor on market which can be powered with any 5V power bank and has hdmi in port. Others uses usb for both power and video.

2nd is to buy Backmagic Intensity Shuttle = ~200$
This option would be better because you could also record and view back footage - which is a problem with raw.
This one combined with new macbook air(12h battery life) would be excellent.
+ you can attach recorder like zoom h4n on camera and send audio as well. This will require HDMI adapter with separate audio input.

If you take 2nd option even further, and transmitter is latency free, recorded video/audio on laptop can actually be used as raw proxy if you connect camera headphone jack to zoom and record beep sound in separate line(when recording is started beep is played via headphone jack too)
And in post just place raw files in separate track at beginnings of that audio line clipping points.
No need to render proxy files which takes a lot of time.

Hope this helps.

I'm actually planning to build similar setup for a while now.

1 question - How do you plan to connect receiver to a laptop? As there's no HDMI IN port on laptops.

Files or not mine, couldn't find original source anymore.
Files are already converted from RAW to DNG sequence.

Happy testing!

Hardware and Accessories / 5DmkIII w/ External monitor - Display mirroring
« on: September 01, 2013, 04:01:25 PM »

I'm planing to buy external monitor so whoever helps me with shoot can see what's happening.

Is it possible to mirror 5DmkIII screen, not just transfer image to external display? Like it's with 1.2.1 firmware?

Couldn't find any setting for this in ML menu. But I really hope it's somehow possible.

I would suggest 7D/50D. You can get solid resolution out of them. And the prices are so good.
Moire will be noticeable, but if you can't afford 5DmkIII, you won't get rid of it anyway. Even 6D has a lot of it.
And of course you can always sell it if you're not satisfied.

I've used all cameras mentioned above, hands down, 5DmkIII is worth its money. 7D is also very nice, but haven't tried RAW on it.

Hardware and Accessories / Re: NEW KomputerBay *1050x* 128 GB Card

what camera are you going to use the 1050x on? Based on tests I did with it, magic lantern or canon firmware will not work on this card with the 5D mkII and 7D.
It can be used with the mkIII. In out test ML was installed on the SD card not the CF.

Totally forgot to mention camera I'm using.
Yes, I have 5DmkIII and yes, ~60mb/s speeds came out of ML benchmark test on 5DmkIII

The thing is, Lexar 1000x cards are not 100% safe deal either.

I owned a Lexar 64gb 1000x and it did ~60mb/s. I couldn't get 1080p24 continuously, even at 2.35 ratio it started to drop frames after ~600.

I sold it and now am waiting for KB 1050x. Hopefully it will do better.

I'm one of those who enabled bootflag and now are waiting for uninstall .fir.

Hopefully it will be released soon
