try this tutorial

http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=6845.0

Turning on the camera, the lv_af_raw setting does not maintain its state. I switch it off, switch it on and it works again.

I've tried the tutorial and it works good...but the pink highlights still remain but less visible. This is a interpretation problem of Resolve. The dng files opened with ACR look perfect.

This is a very short test with raw2cdng and last release of RAW rec of Marekk (thanks again ;) )
Works great but i've noticed in some parts of image (highlight and shadow) a sort of pink/magenta artifacts of chromatic aberrations.
I've used raw2cdng to convert for resolve workflow. I'll try to convert another one with magicraw.

I prepared a special version of ML for 60D and we've got now:

- raw video start delay (code from Tragic Lantern)
- option to set LV_AF_RAW in raw_rec menu
- cleaned dng headers + colormatrix1, colormatrix2, cameracalibration1, cameracalibration2

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B-HdscXfsKpgaG1PXzVQMmlVRkU/edit?usp=sharing

pls let me know if it works on your cameras..

Thank you Marekk. Great job. This version works perfect for me. With lv_af_raw finally i can work with resolve without bad pixel.

Sarotaz, I've been using update 6 with lv_af_raw since it's release and get great results in resolve (using rawmagic to convert to cinema dng). I tried a newer update once but realized the dead/hot pixels couldn't be removed so I just stuck with update 6 with lv_af_raw! Works a treat. Obviously moire and aliasing are still an issue but no update is going to fix that and I can work around it.

yes until rawmagic or raw2cdng will not support badpixel opcode tag i'll use update 6 too.
I ask to Marekk if can rebuild a special version of last update with lv_af_raw.

The problem is in Resolve camera raw not in Adobe camera raw. ACR read dng and tiff correctly.
Davinci with tiff file doesn't enable camera raw setting but opens the tiff sequence correctly.
In reconverted dng file to 16 bit (same 8 bit), davinci camera raw setting is enabled but it opens dng sequence with very low resolution.

Changing these setting, help me to resolve this problem?

UPDATE
I've tried to change setting but no different result. Tiff files extracted by photoshop have metadata (visible in bridge) but resolve doesn't read it. It's a strange problem. Only way is working with reconverted 16 bit dng files but Resolve read bad these file. (a no-sense low resolution and no changes when you try to modify camera raw setting).

ok i ask on BMD forum. Resolve only support cinemaDNG for raw files. No tiff and no dng (16 bit or 8 bit too). This is very bad news. I've tried all convertes: raw2cdng, rawmagic, rawanizer, batchelor, eyeframe. No one supports bad pixel opcode and this is a very big problem.

Until opcode tag will not be included (i hope resolve can read this tag)...raw from 60D with resolve never work.

Marekk no way to remove bad pixel during acquisition?

UPDATE (another one :D)
With lv_af_raw (update 6) no problem in converting to cinemadng (no bad pixel and no artifacts). And obviously camera raw in Resolve works great.
What kind of problems can occur?

Marekk can you compile a special version of last release with lv_af_raw?

Sometimes Photoshop preferences is set to open TIFF's in ACR, this sets all settings in ACR back to zero or default, try disabling TIFF's and Jpeg ACR support in Photoshop preferences and give it a try again :)

Sorry fot double post -.-

Fantastic utility. It speeds up my workflow. Short questions:

1) my 60D is affected by bad pixel. Can i overwrite raw2dng.exe, located in tools folder, with last version released from Marekk with badpixel_opcode optimization?
2) Does tiff contain metadata from camera raw?
3) is there a way to reconvert dng file to 16 or 10 bit (including metadata) for work with resolve?

Thanks in advance.

We can't open files from raw2dng in Davinci Resolve to test it now because it doesn't support 14bit.

I've found the probably fastest way to convert dng  for grading in resolve.
This is my workflow:
1. raw acqusition from camera
2. convert raw in dng sequence with raw2dng (with badpixel_opcode)
3. select all dng files and drag and drop into photoshop
4. camera raw correction for single frame and sync to all
6. set option in 16 bit instead 8 bit with same resolution
7. "select all" button and save images (much faster than rendering in After Effects)

Here i've 2 possibilities (maybe only one): convert dng in digital negative (dng), tiff, or jpeg.
I've tried to save in tiff (not compressed) and resolve open the file sequence correctly but...doesn't read tag and its camera raw is disabled.
If i save in dng, photoshop exports file correctly, but resolve opens this sequence with strange issue: resolution is always low (about 250x260) but read tag and its camera raw work perfectly. Why?

I don't know it other products support this feature. We are waiting for support of badpixel_opcode in rawmagic and raw2cdng to test if Davinci Resolve removes hot pixels automatically. You can open DNG files in RawTherapee. There is a Dead/hot pixel filter which removes all bad pixels with or without badpixel_opcode. We can't open files from raw2dng in Davinci Resolve to test it now because it doesn't support 14bit.

ok i'll still waiting. My purpose is try to convert raw in final prores444 or 422 but without after effects or photoshop pass.
Now i convert in dng, convert in tiff and reconvert in prores for grading with resolve. Is this only way?

@marekk

Does bad_pixel opticode work only with adobe products? I wonder if that could be added this feature in other converter like rawmagic/eyeframe or it is only for raw2dng.

I try to convert with this software (more time-saving) but black and hot pixel are still visible. I can reinstall version with LV_AF_RAW but losing all new feature. What do you recommend?

My second issue is that my dng's aren't working in resolve 9.   They show up with a weird resolution of like 126x96 and they're pink.  If tried to re instal resolve but still have the same issue.

Resolve doesn't support 14 bit dng file but only 12-10-8 bit. You can convert dng in prores444 and import footage in resolve or using raw2cdng (cinema dng).

How many frames were you getting its probably pretty high.

I think you can record continuosly with fast card. In that resolution and with sandisk 45 mb/s i shoot to 19/20 mb/s (global draw off) and buffer is never fully loaded.

If you have a CUDA based card, then Davinci Resolve Lite is your best friend. Saves a TON of time processing the raw frames.

it's true but dng 14 bit files are not supported in resolve and this is the real bottleneck in workflow. Yes... you can convert dng files in prores but it's another pass in your workflow.
Someone is developing a cinema dng converter but it's not optimized for 60D and bad pixel are still alive.

Fantastic result. Just a bit long workflow but finally i can upsize to fullHD from continuos recording (960x540). Thanks for share.

Ok tomorrow i'll shoot some frame with lens cover on. Obviously raw2dng removes all bad pixel so i'll upload raw file.

Please upload somewhere a short and small RAW-File with hot/deadpixels and link it here. I just 've got an idea :)

if you can wait tomorrow, i'll shoot some frame and i'll load it in dropbox. which resolution do you prefer?

On 60D still not working 100%  :( I hope you can include bad pixel opticode...in my case cdng files after conversion have black and hot pixel  :(

Obviously, the overlays don't run on water, they need some CPU power too. Turn off some of them...

i agree but with update 6 this doesn't happen. However with lv_af_raw i've hot or dead pixel (after sensor cleaning too). How i can resolve?

hey guys i've tried to install update 8 but it forces my camera to rec to 10.1 mb/s instead 20/21 mb/s (with update 6 without lv_af_raw).
This issue reduce frame recorded (same resolution 960x540) from 8000+ to 530.  :-\

ok i've installed last night build and update 8. On recording with global draw ON i've 10 mb/s writing speed and max 530 frame, but with global draw OFF i've 20/21 mbs writing speed and 8000+ frame.

With update 6 i can recording with global draw ON or OFF over 8000 frame. Why?
