Hey guys,

Anyone know why I would get extensions like .M01, .M02, .M03, .M04 etc etc? All of them are showing 1KB. I'm using Nightly.2014Mar24.5D3113 build on 5d3 and shooting mlv + sound in 1920x1080.

Thanks

Hey guys,

Long time raw user, but new to .mlv scene. I have a few interview clips I shot in .mlv format -- also used H6 recorder as well. I converted .mlv to dng via MLV Converter v1.9.1 (plus video proxies), but there was no audio file. Not sure if I was supposed to do anything else in ML menu (my audio levels on my 5d3 were moving during the interview). But anyway, that didn't matter as much at first since I recorded audio to H6 recorder. So I imported the video proxies and H6 audio clips into Premiere Pro CC. I then manually sync'd the clips by reading the lips. At the beginning the audio was in sync, but as the video continues, the audio goes out of sync (faster)

The audio was recorded in 44100 hz - 16 bit.

I've tried changing the audio format from 44100 to 48kHz in Audition, but that didn't do anything either. The video proxy is 23.976... same with the cdng and sequence settings. I'm unsure what to do.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

Hardware and Accessories / MustHD field monitors
February 17, 2014, 01:47:00 AM
Did a search but didn't find any threads on this product. Anyone here have experience with MustHD monitors? Not sure if this product is new or what not, but I couldn't find much video reviews out there other than the company's promos.

5" - http://www.musthd.com/products/5-inch-musthd-lcd-hdmi-field-monitor-with-focus-assist-marker-false-color-41.html
5.6" - http://www.musthd.com/products/56-inch-musthd-1280800-on-camera-field-monitor-with-hdmi-input-focus-assistance-exposure-76.html

These monitors have some nice features. I've been using my Samsung Note I for composing/focusing my projects, but it's becoming more and more annoying so I'm looking for a decent field monitor. Ideally I would like to get SmallHD, but it's just way too much.

Thanks

Hey guys,

What do you guys recommend for the settings when outputting or compressing 1080 or higher resolution for Vimeo or Youtube? Before on my 60D, I would output to 720 and my settings from Quicktime Pro 7 were:

video -
format: MP4 (h.264)
data rate: 10,000 kb/sec
Image size: 1280 x 544 (2.35 ratio)

audio -
format: AAC-LC (Music)
data rate: 256 kpbs
channels: stereo
output sample rate 44.100 kHz
encoding quality: best

But now I'm shooting with 5D3 and I just finished a 1920x1080 size raw video. And I plan to go higher down the road. My question, should I increase the "data rate" for the video side? Or is it overkill? I know Vimeo has a limit I believe, but I'm not sure about Youtube.

For those of you who are shooting at 1080 or higher res, what are your settings?

Thanks in advance

Hey guys,

Anyone currently using Pluraleyes 3 with raw footage on Premiere Pro CS6 with Windows 7? My situation is, when the Pluraleyes window pops up (via extensions in PrPro), it would display "Camera 1" clip, "Audio Recorder 1" soundtrack, and "Audio Recorder 2" soundtrack. The problem is, my video clip doesn't have audio in it (I'm shooting on 5d3 and it records audio onto a separate track) so I would get a message in yellow saying "Error: audio extraction failed". It won't let me synchronize any of the audio. I'm assuming because the video clip doesn't have audio, Pluraleyes have nothing to synch.

"Audio Recorder 1" is the 5d3 audio track while "Audio Recorder 2" is my zoom h6 track. I tried highlighting both tracks and click on "Synchronize", but it doesn't work. Anyone know have any suggestions? I've been manually going in and doing it the hard way, but it's annoying and time consuming.

Thanks in advance

General Help Q&A / Komputerbay 64gb 1000x errors on 5d3
September 10, 2013, 02:53:13 AM
Hey everyone,

I received my Komputerbay 64gb card some days ago and it was working fine the first few days, but now it seems to be having problems. Every time I record video (both raw & non-raw formats), it would record for a couple of seconds then I would get an "Err 02 - Card1 can not be accessed reset/change card 1 or format card with camera" message. I tried formatting from my 5d3, but I kept getting a message that card1 can not be formatted.

So then I plugged the card into my computer and tried formatting from there. I would get a message saying I can't format the card. I'm assuming this means it's defective?

thanks

Hey everyone,

I bought a 5D3 last week and have done a few projects already. I installed ML the moment it arrived. I noticed that when I record video (not raw, but regular h.264 format), it records audio separately on their own tracks. Since this is the first time I've used a 5D3, I'm not sure if this is how it normally process video or if ML has something to do with it. I want to record both audio and video together so that it'll be easier to sync in post since I have a Zoom H6. Currently it's a pain trying to sync extra audio tracks.

I've gone through Canon Menu settings and ML's, but I couldn't find any options to combine audio and video together. Can anyone help?

For the record, I'm using ML 5d3 August 26th build (nightly)

Thanks!!

Share Your Videos / 60D (raw video) Fashion video

Hello,

Here is my latest fashion video I shot with Canon 60D in raw video. I shot in 960x540 and then uprezzed to 1280x720 in post. Hopefully this is my last video I will shoot on a 60D as I'm waiting for a 5D Mark III to come in  ;D

Here's my 3rd fashion video shot with raw format. This is my first video shot on 1280x544. My previous videos I shot at 960x540 and uprez to 720.

Here's my 2nd video I shot using raw format. Like my first one, I shot at 960x544, uprezzed to 1280x720 (psd) in Lightroom, edit in Premiere Pro, added finishing touches in AE, and finally compressed for web via Quicktime.

thanks!

Here is my first raw shooting with my 60D. One of three fashion videos I shot the past few weeks. I shot at 960x544 and then output to 1280x720 from Lightroom.

Hey guys, I have a lot of footage I shot on my 60D, but they're in 960x540 resolution. I'm looking to upscale to either 1080 or 720. Initially i was going to do it this route:

1) Open each DNG sequence in Lightroom
2) Make any color/lighting adjustments
3) Exporting to tif in 1920x1080
4) Bring into AE

But I have about 200 DNG sequences which would take me forever to export into tifs.

Is the following viable and with good resolution?

1) Import the DNG sequences into AE
2) Place all DNG sequences on 1 timeline, with ample space between
3) Resize the DNG sequences by 199% (fitting the 1920x1080 frame)
4) Exporting to lossless avi
5) bring into Premiere Pro for editing

My question is, will blowing up the DNG sequences in AE reduce the image quality? I'm looking for an efficient workflow without jeopardizing image quality and if anyone have any suggestions, please feel free to let me know.

Thanks

***UPDATED --- nevermind, there is a difference in quality. Exporting tiffs from Lightroom has better quality. Does anyone have an efficient workflow for dealing with about 200 DNG sequences?
