Hi marsu, yes PayPal has covered me for parcels not received, but they were all bought through ebay / PayPal, that may have been the reason. If i remeber correctly they required me to wait 14 working days after the estimated delivery date just in case it turned up.

Because PayPal handle it I never find out what the seller can or can't prove about the shipping

If I was in your situation I would just go ahead and dispute it before your time runs out. You may not be refunded the shipping costs, but at least you will recover your product cost.

PayPal staff once told me to always do as above, regardless of eBay encouraging a settlement between the buyer and seller, especially if China is involved.

If the time has lapsed I believe you can still open a case with PayPal under special circumstances.

Either way, I hope you get it sorted :)

For those unfamiliar with PayPal, they will refund you themselves if you dont receive your item, or if they consider it unlikely that your product return will ever reach the seller, ala returning things to China, or if the cost of the item new is similar cost of return postage. IMHO PayPal is worth it. So far they have been excellent for me in cases like this.

For a non profit project, I'm amazed at the devotion put into Magic Lantern by all the developers for all the camera models and branches. I don't post often but I enjoy reading the forum every day - and as confusing as it all may seem at first to the newcomer, it's really a well run machine. Thank you for all your efforts and time, and please let it continue :)

I didn't understand a word of it, but I really enjoyed it and thought it was nicely shot. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the info. I'm reading the same thing in komputerbay feedback elsewhere. I'm not sure im going to purchase anything else from them if this keeps up..

Am i right to assume you purchased directly from them and not via EBay / PayPal? PayPal should be able to assist you if you used them. PayPal have been terrific for me in my lost shipping online purchases.

Hi. If you are using Adobe Raw to process your clips, this is a well known issue. To the best of my knowledge there is no true workaround, and many folk are using Davinci Resolve as an alternative. It,s unfortunate because ACR has some great processing abilities.

Minimising your use of shadow, highlight and clarity sliders is your best option if you must use ACR.

there will most likely be a 1 to 2 second delay when waking up the camera from sleep which AFAIK is the only annoying trace of ML left behind (ala the altered bootflag).

A virgin camera will wake up instantly from sleep

Excellent - thank you G3gg0!  :)

would it be too much to ask for a way to lock the exposure?

smiley face indicatates that you haven't yet used "eos card" to boot enable the card you are running ML from. When you do, make sure only the bottom two check boxes are ticked and then click "save"
#12
jake - that's normal. it's ml's method of giving you an accurate "used sensor area" preview in zoom mode.

if you don't like it, switch preview to "canon" in the ml menu.

It's a well known issue with ACR / Lightroom, and any Raw converter that uses "frame by frame" analysis.

There is no known solution yet, and flicker/exposure shift affects all process modes in some way (LR Timelapse plugin does help with Lightroom but it's tedious)

wow, 5+ days without an update - is progress finally slowing down?

It's been a very enjoyable ride so far  :)

Excellent program Marten, thanks again.

My only issue so far is the same as Ted's regarding the file spanning

Don't worry, I'd say a great percentage of 5d3 ML users are silently waiting for this

The excitement of raw probably far out weighs the excitement of 1.2.1, once things settle down no doubt it will materialise.  :D

Raw Video / Re: Problems to record!

Try doing a config file reset in the magic lantern menu.

Hi gang.

Would it be possible to add an option to disable the white underexposed warning pixels in RAW zebras?

Thank you  :)

it was just to see how it compares to others who are also tested in that mode. Everyone seems to be testing in different modes and seeing different results. Glad it's working though.

Hi Shield.

I don't use the AE button with video, but I've experienced this drastic exposure shift several times now, though I'm not sure it is exactly what you are experiencing.

I see it in the LCD when panning from very bright to dark  or visa-versa. Once it starts to occur, it keeps doing it until I do a config reset. Strangely, it is turning the exposure up further when the camera is pointing into light, and turns it down further when pointing into darker scenes, almost like the LCD brightness was set to auto and light was hitting the LCD sensor on the back of the camera. It is in the recording at the same places. I have not touched any ACR parameters, but it is a similar phenomenon to using ACR and the 2010 or 2003 processing during light-to-dark pans (sudden big jumps or decreases in exposure where it should be gradual).

I'm always using manual mode with a set ISO.

The only consistent thing I can associate it with is that I generally notice it after using x5 or x10 recording and frame rate override (locked at 25).

Will be interesting to figure out what is causing it, though I haven't had it in 15th or 16th June build yet. I haven't tried the most recent builds yet.

Hi TheJturner

From what I understand, the developers have tapped into an existing stream of video that occurs when the x5 or x10 mode is selected, and it uses roughly the 1920 x 1080 centre-ish most pixels of the 5760 x 3840 pixel sensor, and is therefore a 1:1 pixel map.

This 1:1 pixel view gives a final image zoom effect that it approximately x3 larger than the full sensor "5760 x 3840" pixels scaled down to 1920 x 1080.

The x5 and x10 modes then magnify this 1:1 pixel stream (no increase in quality or detail)

Therefore, you wouldn't benefit in quality from what you are asking for and you can achieve the same result by simply scaling it up in post.

When you use the x5 or x10 mode, the camera is still only recording the 1:1 (x3 scale) pixels even though you see it as x5 or x10 on the LCD. (the B&W view in x5 mode may be x3 now, I've not checked as I don't use it to record)

Looks good  :)

have you tried one in photo mode?

Hi.

Maybe if everyone tests under the same conditions you'll get a better idea of how your card is performing. Many members appear to be testing in different camera modes, which from my own tests gives largely varying results.

It seems there are many other things can can influence the test results too.

Check what "Mode" your tests are being performed under, it makes a big difference to your results. The mode shows up in the top part of the benchmark image/display.

Some have been doing tests in photo mode which tends to yield faster results than "movie" mode. To get the benchmark to show "photo" mode;

1. In camera mode (not video), press the info button so that your display shows the "shooting info" display similar the following image (these are not my exact test settings - just ensure that this settings preview is showing)

2. Turn off "global draw"

3. Do the "Benchmark read / write 5min test" immediately after formatting the card in the camera.

These are one of my results with the Komputerbay 64gb 1000x card while in "photo" mode.

That's bad luck Kraemer. I hope it's 3rd time lucky for you.

Did the first one run okay on the Mac right up to the point of you returning it?

I would like to order more of these cards. The only seller I could find who would ship to Australia was on Ebay, and he/she barely understands what I'm asking them, so it's a gamble as to what I get when I order. I seem to have been very lucky with this first card.

Thanks A1ex.

Oops I'm a day behind in builds. I've been using ed914b3 which I thought was from today, but it isn't.

For whatever reason, with the switch in photo position, as soon as I run the R/W 5min benchmark, it displays the last photo taken and runs the benchmark on top of it. Pressing info doesn't seem to make a difference. I've reset config file etc. It continues to show the benchmark as "playback".

However; I've just updated to e31a2c4 (todays?) and now the benchmark is showing "photo". Go figure?

Update - In case others are having difficulty comparing apples with apples, the canon OSD must show this

and not the other canon info modes for it to show "photo" in the benchmark.

Much better in photo mode, all my previous ones were in video mode.

Immediately after formatting the card in the camera
