@TBar15 , What are talking about  ? Everything you need is in the build .
https://builds.magiclantern.fm/experiments.html

Just follow the really sample instructions that's being postedHow is this not straight forward ?
I'm testing out firmware a lot you guys are doing, I'm wondering are anyone doing professional work with magiclantern-raw_video_10bit_12bit.2018Oct10.5D2212.zip? I didn't get the September 17 version, but  magiclantern-raw_video_10bit_12bit.2018Oct10.5D2212.zip looks stable. Please let me know what you guys think. THANKS FOR ANY RESPONSE

Raw Video / Re: Uncompressed RAW 4k Canon 5D Mark II?
August 11, 2018, 07:16:36 PM
Thanks for the improvements Reddeercity, I've found sometime to test your bleeding edge 12bit and it's awesome. I did notice the first frame of the clips has some image defects (https://vimeo.com/284515399), but 99% of what is recorded is 12bit RAW, I will also test out the 10bit 1856x1254 because I'm looking forward to doing something with the full sensor image. By the way, Objectively Magic Lantern is Industry ready for Filmmakers and Professional, I spend my time on movie set using Blackmagic Mini Pro to RED to Canon. The only thing that will stop Magic Lanter from making a Feature film is lack of effort, don't forget House MD season 6 Episode 22 the season finale "Help Me", was shot entirely with the Canon 5D Mark II with maybe Cinestyle Log native CF Card H.264, also Act of Valor film and many more. If you have a good DIT system on your set and patience for securing Take, anything is possible.

@dariSSight masc's advice is good I agree with all of it. However I always use a 10/12 bit build for the 5D2, it's surprisingly stable, the reduced bits saves space when recording in crop mode(however it corrupts normal shots because it's not fully working yet). mlv_lite also gives a bit more horizontal resolution: 1880x1056 vs 1856x1044, but I don't use it.

I love to test out the lower bit but Where can i get the 10/12 bit build you're using, also which build do you recommend for mlv_lite for 1880x1056?
Thanks for the Advice
Also are you guys looking at the new ProRes RAW Codec from Apple?

Thanks for MLV app, I will shoot a wide range of video clips this week to test the range quality of my Canon 5D Mark II (Dynamic Range, Sharpness, Color Vivid, Natural Mosiac/Aliasing Preventions and Clean Upconversion Range). I have decided to divert from my normal post process (MLV 2.0 Files to MLVFS to Adobe AfterEffect to Adobe Camera RAW to ProRes4444XQ to Final Cut Pro X or Premiere Pro CC 2018), instead use your MLV app. Any tips or steps that would give me the cleanest Video Clips to import into Final Cut Pro X or Premiere Pro, What is your most stable firmware release that you're  testing your app with, and are you using a Canon 5D Mark II? Also are you guys think about input a upscaling algorithm system that would be accurate to adding pixel that would be true to image processing, something like what Sharp did on their Quattron Plus models (example Sharp AQUOS Quattron +). Finally did you guys make a tutorial, I'll look but I thought I ask. I know it's a lot but your answer to these questions should help most novice Magic Lantern user get closer to a stable workflow. Thanks again

@AWPStar , No my raid0 isn't compressed , I'll try the new .exe and report back .
See blue hi lighted bar

In the root of the program , it's auto generated when MPVProducer starts or at least when a file is loaded

Edit: Also here you can clear it or start it

Edit#2: @AWPStar yes that's faster
build 3354
Total time: 80 sec
Parse speed: 392 MB/s
parsed at 80.05

with fast preview I get Real Time paly back 24fps , thou audio is slow by a few seconds
build 3272
Total time: 120.3 sec
Parse speed: 22 MB/s
parsed at 120.38

I really like the new Fast Color plugin  :D give a nice creamy cinematic look.
I did notice 12bit to be a more pleasing image then 14bit , really nice roll off's on the hi end and clean shadow
The most Filmic I ever seen from a 5d2 even better then 5d3 from the example I've seen (too video-ish , for my liken)
It's a pleasure to grade it , specially with mlvproducer  ;)
If at all possible I'll be filming in 12bit (not to save disk space or write speed) cause the image is that good !
Finally the diamond is starting to reveal it self , I my never upgrade at this rate.

Hello Reddeercity
Which build are you using on 5d2 for 12bit and are you doing a new tutorial soon?
#33
These are the 2 Builds it gives me when I use Terminal
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/acqkc6zebq7ryq6/AAB7AqgJGoKwJQECPi6yrifya?dl=0

so should I keep using -
cd Magic-LanternCloneRepository/platform/5D2.212
make zip
cp *.zip ~/Desktop
make clean

I do have two Directory I think 1.magic-lantern & 2.Magic-LanternCloneRepository, so should I delete 1.magic-lantern Directory

@reddeercity,
I've set up my Compiling System via dfort Mac tutorial, also clone dfort and I've test to see if my building Build work and every thing look like its work. Only thing I change was in raw.c was
#ifdef CONFIG_5D2
#define RAW_LV_BUFFER_ALLOC_SIZE (SRM_BUFFER_SIZE - 0x1000)
#endif

to

#ifdef CONFIG_5D2
#define RAW_LV_BUFFER_ALLOC_SIZE (SRM_BUFFER_SIZE - 0xF000)
#endif

by the way is that correct

I'm going to test it now, but what can I do to help out or get to your latest stable build?

by the way when I put code below in Terminal it gave me 2 build

cd Magic-LanternCloneRepository/platform/5D2.212
make zip
cp *.zip ~/Desktop
make clean

Very new to ACES workflow so I read this thread but still spacey how to get the converter, Where do I download this software from and how do i install it? Thank

These links (may take about 30min to upload) are to video with choppy video, also it is still choppy outcome even with raw_twk.mo turned off

Happy New Year To My Fellow Magic Lantern Enthusiasts,

I just read the possible corrections to the builds I've been testing but they give me shake Choppy video, but I will try it without RAW TWK module.

@dfort @reddeercity
When I make a build on Mac is it correct that I should open up Sourcetree, double click on raw_video_10bit_12bit_LVState-wip in Clone, then open terminal paste

cd Magic-LanternCloneRepository/platform/5D2.212
make zip
cp *.zip ~/Desktop
make clean

Take zip from desktop, install it on cf card, Also when we make edits do we edit the raw.c in src folder? And how do we know what to edit?

I know these question are all over the place but they will help me figure out how to assist in the builds. Thanks again
#38
Thanks and Happy Holidays to Magic Lantern and a special THANKS and HAPPY HOLIDAYS to dfort for helping me out on setting up for builds, I have a build on my desktop now and I guess I'm read to pitch in.
#39
HELP! I'm trying to sink my teeth into compiling but I'm hitting a snag, I'm at the part where you ask to modify Makefile.user.default. But I don't see that file or all the different filed you ask us to edit as we go, so I'm kind of stuck after "brew install docutils". I think I'm going to start over again but I just wanted some advice.

You don't need to know how to code in order to compile ML from source. I wrote a couple of tutorials for the methods that I use most.

Mac tutorial
Windows, Cygwin tutorial

If you are running Windows 10 there is a way to run Ubuntu on it. Here's a discussion on that topic. Cool thing about this method is that you can also run QEMU--with Cygwin you can't.
@dariSSight - I'll post a 5D2 build that does this:

#ifdef CONFIG_5D2
-#define RAW_LV_BUFFER_ALLOC_SIZE (SRM_BUFFER_SIZE - 0xF000)
+#define RAW_LV_BUFFER_ALLOC_SIZE (SRM_BUFFER_SIZE - 0x1000)
#endif

That will be the Dec.22 build. What this does is to shrink the custom buffer we're using to the same amount that is working on the other cameras. Check it against the previous build, which I'll leave up for a while, and see if there is any difference between the two. Look for these unofficial test builds on my downloads page.

@dfort Thanks for the links to Tutorials. I'm a Mac user, I'm up at 3am to jump right in, and I'll do a clean install of Dec 12 build because it gave me Choppy jumpy video when I use it last, but maybe I did something wrong but I'll test again along with Dec 22 build.Thanks Again

@6D_ML which build are you using and is there a 5D2 build?

Don't know anything about a 70D build for 10bit/12bit - that camera isn't in the raw_video_10bit_12bit branch though it is in the crop_rec_4k branch. There isn't an official experimental build though @esas has reported on the Canon 70D topic that he has a build that seems to work with 10bit/12bit.
Is there a update test build for 5D2, that we can test over the holiday. I apologize for my lack of coding ability, so if you can direct a non-coder in the direction of learning how to build test firmware for 5D2? I'm very willing to learn and i have the next 11 day off work.

According to the code:

edmac-memcpy.c
#elif defined(CONFIG_5D2)
uint32_t raw_write_chan = 0x10; /* 0x01 and 0x02 also work but not safe. Needs fps override as a workaround */

The current 5D2 build should be good to use for testing and logging.

As promised I took another look at this build. I could finally get a good zoom mode recording using mlv_rec but not with raw_rec (before it became mlv_lite) and only if FPS override was turned on. However, it does work with 10/12bit and the video looks good.

I don't know if I'm doing anything wrong but I tested Dec 12,2017 build and its nonfunctional, choppy footage files, freeze while in record. Is there any build you have for non crop and 5xzoom I can test that's ready? So far best build for testing non-crop 10bit 12bit is Reddeercity Dec10,2017noncropBuild but you said don't use that build, and Dec1,2016/5xCropBuild(I think that's a Dfort build).

@dariSSight read the last few posts and do not use any 5D2 build that uses EDMAC channels 0x01 or 0x02 for raw recording!!

More research needs to be done.

50D testers - the 50D builds using EDMAC 0x01 should be ok.
So can I use Dfort December 12 build?

Great footage, color tones is natural for the setting and How did you get the footage so stable without tripod?

I can confirm with @Ilia3101 on 5D2 in 1:1 non crop mode with mlv_lite & mlv full+audio ,
I can record 10 , 12 , 14 bit with out any frame corruption or out of sync Lv preview.
I downloaded the source code , changed write channel from 0x01 to 0x02 in edmac-memcpy.c  , compiled it locally in my VM.
Tested 1856x928 , 1872x936 , 1880x1056 , 1880x1016 , 1880x1128 , 1880x1248 ,  23.976 with frame over ride to exact in Auto Preview with mlv_lite
Pressed the half shutter while recording to get actuate framing with out issue , in 10 , 12bit (14bit where short 200 frame captures)

In mlv full with audio I tested 1856x928,  1856x1044 , 1856x1114 , 1856x1238 , 1856x1248 ,  23.976 with frame over ride to exact in Auto Preview ,
also pressed the half shutter while recording to get actuate framing with out issue , in 10 , 12bit (14bit where short 200 frame captures)

3x Crop mode is broken , it seems to keep the first frame it see as a alternating frame while the other frame has movement so
like frame #1 is frozen and frame #2 has normal movement and keeps repeating that pattern but frame #1 is not broken -- as in
artifacts or shearing with pink frame just frozen . I tested mlv_lite 2152x1072 & Full mlv + audio 2144x1074

*Note* Full MLV +Audio : audio was sync and was perfect , not problems.

Edit: if anyone that can't compile and what to try out  1:1 10 & 12bit raw video with mlv_lite & full mlv+audio I uploaded to my bitbucket downloads magiclantern-10_12bit_broken_3xcrop_mode_2017Dec10.5D2212.zip

Redeercity Thanks for the testing Build, Its a big step toward at least a 12bit build. I did a quick test with 12bit setting and I will be dong some more test during this week. How do I use your setting above, is it a past and copy trick?

@PressureFM  thanks , the more the merrier .
Currently the issue is the customs Raw LV buffer , I've been trying to spy the memory to find the LV raw buffer
and looking thought my 5d2 decompiled rom dump for addresses , a1ex gave me some clues at the links
http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=19336.msg183374#msg183374
http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=19336.msg183382#msg183382

I found the registers needed to modify frame size with adtg_gui but the problem is the LV buffer
I did have some success with my  RAW_LV_BUFFER_ALLOC_SIZE (2040*1267) as per post #27
The reason I used that was it was the largest buffer on the edmac & it didn't change when switch to Photo Liveveiw see post #49
Edmac#5 buffer size is what I used , now I think there's I little dilemma here , when I updated to "new-lv-buffer-detections" branch and complied
I ended up with the older core "Magic Lantern v2.3.NEXT" , reason I mention this edmac#5 is Green (active) where in the nightly builds compiles
on newer code edmac Channel #5 is Yellow , which I think is a error  or all this could mean nothing , just thought I would mention it .
So Yea LV raw buffer needs to be solved & I thing that will also help to get 10 & 12bit problem in 1:1 solved also

Link to my bitbucket downloads for those memspy builds I talked about .
magiclantern-Nightly.memspy.lv.raw.buffer.extended.resoultion.2017Apr24.5D2212.zip
magiclantern-v2.3.NEXT.Memspy.2017Apr23.5D2212.zip
You may just want to compile your own copy of adtg_gui from the ISO-research branch or you can download a copy from my bitbucket download.
So any suggestion are very welcome  :D

Forgive me for my ignorance but what do I do with the downloads to us this build?
#48
@reddeercity I've been watch your God like devotion to further improving 5D2 Thanks a million. This looks promising so when can we mere mortals get to test it?
#49
Thanks for the response guys. I'm wondering if for example Adobe Camera RAW color correction Magic Lantern DNG via MLVFS open in Final Cut Pro X edit in Project export to 4K or Adobe Camera RAW color correction Magic Lantern DNG via MLVFS then export as 16bit TIFF as 4K, or Adobe Camera RAW color correction FCPX export/Adobe Camera RAW 16bit TIFF to favorable percentage upscale.
#50
@Lars Steenhoff @dfort With all the video production intelligence on Magic Lantern forum we never get a objective analyzation of upscale from a 36x24 Full Frame sensor RAW to 2K or 4K or at least percentage safe zones for upscaling. Is there any way we can get an objective opinions on upscaling RAW?
