It's not just Resolve. I shoot wide all the time, it's the wide angle lenses with everything in focus. Aliasing and Moire are plentiful in that situation.

Yeah, the 6D is known for this. I have a couple of 6D bodies and know your pain. It's really bad with my 28-75 2.8 Tamron. But like you, not bad at all with my 50mm 1.4, 85mm 1.8 or even my 70-200 2.8. I think it has a lot to do with far focus, wide shots with lots of detail and where everything is in focus. I'm still trying to get around this too. As mentioned in another thread, I tried the Mosaic Engineering VAF filter. It works pretty well but I sent mine back because we take stills too and it's too cumbersome to install/uninstall often. I'm trying various lens filter ideas including DIY - clear lens filter with some clear nail polish drops. It helps but not sure I'm liking it though. You could always try the 5x (actually 3x) zoom to help, but then you need to go wider on your lens.

Hardware and Accessories / 6D Moire/Aliasing
April 28, 2015, 12:53:59 AM
Hey all, sorry if this has been posted/asked already...

Is anybody using Tiffen Black Diffusion FX 1/4 filters to help with moire or aliasing? I know there's the Mosaic Engineering VAF (I had one but sent it back), but I take stills too and that's too cumbersome for me. Was just wondering if anybody had any luck with at least reducing those issues on the 6D using lens filters.

Can't thank you guys enough for all the hard work and dedication to keeping ML Raw working on the 6D. I have a couple of 6D bodies and a Panasonic GH4. While the GH4 is a good 4K camera, I'm still blown away by the 14bit raw on my 6D bodies. 4K is nice but ML raw still looks incredible compared to the GH4 files - even with a little moire/aliasing on the 6D (some of which can be fixed in post).

So does that mean we'll never see clean HDMI on the 6D???

Any chance we might get film-gamma ProRes out of our beloved 550D?

The work to this point has been amazing! I wonder though, have we hit a brick wall?

This is very exciting!!! This will breathe life back into my 550D's.
