Feature Requests / Re: Potential for All-I on 60D
July 11, 2013, 03:52:11 PM
Asked and answered awhile ago:

RE: "1%'s bit rate code."

From Marekk,

"I think this code is portable but I don't know how to find addresses for 60D."

So unless somebody is willing to find the addresses, as each body is different, it "ain't" gonna happen until it's incorporated in an official release (assuming it will be), not to mention (the devs) having to field a slew of "asked and answered" ?s regarding GOP and slice.

With the SD controller limitation of D!gic 4 bodies (re: RAW), this ALL-I H.264 (and GOP control) is where it's at and a no-brainer for 60D owners.  But as we (me...you?) are not devs, we have to beg and wait.

And yes, you can PM devs and demi-devs and ask THEM questions...dare I say, "pester?"

Raw Video / Re: RAW install on 60D

Generally speaking, in all seriousness, if you can't find it, you really should NOT install it.

Call it a test, if you will--the whole "bleeding edge" thing.

General Chat / 70D: Rumors and speculation.
June 27, 2013, 09:27:56 PM
Looks like the 70D is coming next.

http://www.canonrumors.com/2013/06/canon-eos-70d-spec-list/

Anybody care to speculate as to card dope: type, speed, dual?

Both the "serious" and "jokesters" (you know, class 6 SD max, can't use UHS...) welcome.

Model: 60D
Card: Sandisk Extreme 45 MB/s 16 GB
Global draw off.

1280 x 544 (2.35:1).

Before: 707 frames.
After: 861 frames.

Got an ERR 70 the 1st time, but not the 2nd, 3rd...

The buffer(s) indicator is cool, better than the stars by far.

Edit: at 1152 x 490 (2.35:1), before 1802 frames, after over 3,000 frames!

There is a new version of raw_rec with new buffering alghoritm:
https://bitbucket.org/hudson/magic-lantern/commits/90c50ab005b7bb5307906a3352196248ce7f7d64?at=unified

It crashes during raw recording ? (if yes - on what resolution?)

My 60D just locked up right after entry into ML menu.  The buttons became unresponsive.  I had to take the batt. out--wouldn't even turn off via power switch.  Reverted back to a prev. working version (which you should always maintain while testing).

Looks like the dropbox is no longer public, too.

Feature Requests / Manual focus HELP!
May 10, 2013, 08:06:49 PM
Love Magic Lantern: brilliant.  My issue is...me.  I can't manually focus to save my life.  Sure, the focusing tools in ML are awesome, but my issue is turning the dang lens the wrong direction EVERY time. It's like a bad habit I can't break.  What I'd love is SOME super-easy-to-see assistance in that area (since the camera seems to know the right direction).  I have two ideas: one "way out there," the other, "not so much."

In a "way-out" world: direction and HOW much (wholly independent feature that uses maybe two arrow graphics—unless you can use one and flip it—of opposite directions, then repeats them based on out of focus travel.  It would have to compute focus travel, which no doubt varies lens to lens, and graphic usage).  The arrows would either fade or disappear as the lens is rotated (to show progress).

In a "not so much" world: direction ONLY (uses the Magic Zoom box and puts a red line on either side to indicate which direction to turn the TOP of the lens).  The red line would disappear once the lens is rotated.

In either case, I guess the center A/F point would be the reference.  As to whether the focus assist would update in real time or would require a button press (which would kinda suck) is beyond my pay grade. ;)

Keep up the great work!
