Duplicate Questions / Re: 7D - Help files not found
June 01, 2015, 07:07:57 PM
2873 posts and YOU tell ME we have a documentation problem?  How about you post less and work on that, then?

When somebody's FIRST post is critical of ML, I get a bit testy.

And this entire thread wouldn't even be necessary if people read the forum!  You did JUST copy and paste the answers, right?

This is exactly why people should learn their cameras first so they don't blame ML as a knee-jerk response when, "sh*t happens."

While the mirror lock-up setting was clearly at the forefront on my mind, asking that sort of question was way to close to, "Well, is it plugged in?"

Quotefocus peaking doesn't work anymore

It does work. Rest ML settings, restart, turn on focus peaking, then make sure you are on the correct "live view" screen: try the "DISP" button (I don't own that body). Make sure A/F is on and toggle through them.  My advice: when "playing around" in the future, pay close attention.

Quotecombine...internally instead [of] taking three...photos

You MUST take three (or more) photos REGARDLESS. What you meant was, "Can I combine images (on a T3) in camera instead of having to use a computer?"

No.

Edit: The "make sure A/F is on" is due to the fact that you never explained what you meant by, "doesn't work."

Quotereinstalled ML

Huh?

You don't "reinstall" a nightly build.  You:

1. Clear/reset all camera settings (recommended).
2. Delete ALL old files from the card (i.e. autoexec.bin and the entire ML directory).
3. Replace with new files.

**NEVER mix old with new.**

Maybe cycle the battery and try 1 - 3.

Quote from: LightMan: Today at 08:20:55 AMWhen I succeed to format it and restore videos from it, videos are corrupted. I see that ML was deleted when reformating the card.

What do you mean by, "format?" On your computer? Of course all the files will be gone.

After EACH file transfer (session) from my camera (a 60D) to my computer, I put the SD card back in my camera and perform a "low level" format (ML restores itself unless I press the "Q" button to switch the option to remove).

But this is just me.

Cards do NOT last forever.  It might be time for new/better card.  In-camera SD card formatting should be part of your regular maintenance routine.

Or...

You could figure it out yourself and let all of us know.  That would be best.

You could READ some of this forum before using your 1st question to inform us that you haven't read anything on this forum.

Choosing to install ML on your camera INCLUDES the responsibility to educate YOURSELF--so many have given so much here for FREE--and it's kinda insulting when you ask such a BASIC question.

That way the "Big Boys" don't have to waste their time copying and pasting links to the obvious.
#10
Why in God's name would he you loan you a $3,000.00 camera and not include the $15 SD card right along with it?

ML is body specific.  They are NOT interchangeable and the card MUST be considered part of the camera.

This is beyond reason.

Can you just image the 1st person who installed ML who came here only to find a blank forum?

What to do...what to do...

It's not necessary to ask a question that answers itself and is considered--in most cultures--to be bad form.

@cybercretin

Snarky?  Your first post here is: "I don't know how to find the firmware/manual for a Canon 60D."

Every hear of Canon USA?

http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/cameras/slr_cameras/eos_60d

You know, where you can download the firmware and manual super easy for FREE even?

Not part of the IT generation or just lazy?

Ever think ML just isn't for you?  You can BRICK your camera, you know?

Kinda insulting to the entire ML community to have your FIRST post be:

"I've installed it (twice), I don't know how it's supposed to work, it's not working, help."

Imagine the FIRST poor bast--person to install this...staring at an empty forum...

Anyone who has even "...the slightest hope..." of ANY current SD slot being able to record 1080 RAW has 1,000 times too much hope.

Modding the SD controller is a dead horse that just won't stay buried.

General Help Q&A / Re: ML killed my Canon 5D Mark III ??

"I tried to turn on and nothing happens...waited 5 minutes...and the camera is turned on...everything looks ok...I turn it off...I tried again to turn on but does not turn..."

My two cents: faulty on/off switch.

P.S. I'm a certified pretend Canon technician--full disclosure.

There is actually a full-on module for lightning photography that does an amazing job:

Doubt this would work for wildlife photos: it's based on light detection--but I'm no expert.

1. Sony shooters only care about shadow detail and dynamic range.  Focus--so passé!

2. The sensor/processor of the camera isn't the issue but the write speed of the SD card.  I believe the ONLY body capable of FULL HD RAW is the 5dM3 (CF).  The 70D shares the same SD capabilities of the 6D (among others) of 40 MB/s (unless I'm mistaken), so you might go there

http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=5530.msg37766#msg37766

to see what advice they can give you (for when ML comes to the 70D, of course).

P.S. There's a chart that shows all the current capabilities of the bodies running ML --> here: http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=6215.0.

You should ENJOY your 70D for 3 to 6 months or so, learn it...love it--AS IS.  Then and ONLY then consider Magic Lantern.

When THAT day arrives, read and read and read and read and read the forums.  For every question you write, you should read at LEAST 50 posts--all the answers are in here, REALLY.  Use the search feature, too.

(And for a second I thought a1ex and g3gg0 were f**king with us--having become punchy from the GPL war).

Raw Video / Re: Tips to increase write speed

600D, where did you get that info?

Dig!c 4 bodies are liimited to 21, but 5(+) SD controllers are UHS-1, and can write faster.

Sounds perverse, I know, but his body HAS to be a newer model!

Edit: I've heard the Sandisk 95 is a tad (a relative term for sure) faster on Dig!c 4's, maybe it'll be faster for you (Dig!c >= 5).

General Chat / Re: Canon EOS 70D (RAW possibility)
September 06, 2013, 06:03:31 PM
The ergonomics ALONE are worth $500 bucks to me (I can't STAND the Rebel bodies).  Most people (non-pros) hold on to bodies for 4 to 5 YEARS, so:

Let's do 4 years:

4 x 365 / $500 = that's about 34 cents a day not to have my hand ache like HELL!

Add in all the other stuff (and I'm coming from the 60D, so ergo is off the table): time code, 98% viewfinder, better low light ISO performance, Dig!c 5+, 20.2 megapixels, 7D AF (19 points), 3-10x digital zoom, dual pixel AF, multi-exposure mode, video/photo switch, continuous mode dial rotation, ALL-I h.264, AF micro adjustment, and Wi-Fi (and remote capture via app) and it's STILL worth the extra to me.

"I don't want..." or "I don't care about..." does NOT equal "...not worth it."

Plus, it's a known FACT you need around 100 MB/s (like the 5DM3) to record* full HD RAW.  Why anyone would think the 70D would pull that off when the 6D can't is beyond me.
