So, is high bitrates for the 5d2 etc. officially not happening?

I got a mark II, but I'm thinking on buying a GH2 or a GH3 depending on what the final GH3 image looks like OR I might buy another CANON if the geniuses of ML can cook better bit rates. 

That's whats really important to me right now, getting better bitrates, all other cameras seem to have better bitrates than CANON cameras.  Not to mention the Black Magic Camera being just 3k.

But if High bitrates are a reality soon I rather get another CANON, then I can use it as a Second or B camera on shoots with my Mark II and match the look in post easier than with another brand.

I wonder how much of this announcement (6 months in advance) has to do with the work you guys are doing.  Why not announce it just before launching it?  they were feeling the heat for sure. 

6 months tells me they are trying to figure it out, hope to bump up the sales and hold the sales towards other cameras BMC, the LEICA coming out around that time etc.

He's done an AMAZING job.  I don't know why Canon hasn't hired him.  ML is probably responsable for a lot of sales.

Just worried that there is a window here of opportunity.  With the Black Magic Camera, Gh3, A99 etc high bitrates should be a priority?

Hey Guys, this development is perfect timing for Magic Lantern/CANON users.

With the release of the GH3 and at the price range we are working at is only a matter of time before people start looking elsewhere(the GH3 or Sony cameras) for this high bitrate capabilities out of the box.  People might loose interest in ML very soon if the canon dslr cameras don't have "competitive" bitrates.... probably the most important new feature ML should have.

I think I just crapped my pants, 2k??!!!!  BTW, I am here thanks to FilmMan.  Like he said, he put all this in another board.

For the record, all of this is Greek to me.  I use the 2.3 and love it.... but that's about where all my technical knowledge, all this Gop etc. is language from another planet.

But I can gather that we are ALL here for the main reason, that CANON has given us the short change so we have to buy at least a $13,000 dollar camera, to get a good quality file.  At that price the c300 is just 1080p Apple Pro Res 444

The 5d mark II and Mark III has the biggest sensor around(bigger than RED etc.) But we have to live with that crappy h264 BS.

I have a 5d Mark II and a Lexar professional 1000x(I heard is the fastest card around?), let me know when and how can I help, once Alex is on this.... just explain how to do it.... like you would a 5 year old
