The bottleneck is the camera, limit is around 90MBps, so a fast card is needed. But you won't get 104MBps needed for continuous recording of the resolution you desire, yet you can get small amounts of recordings like you are experiencing, this is normal behavior.

I use lens correction for video in ACR and I can tell it's never varied from frame to frame.

Yes, insert card with only the new Canon firmware on it and then update as per normal. Then do the ML thing.

I know in AE you can just resize the composition and then have footage fit comp.

As an example of this model you can look to Red Hat's Linux distribution. They charge a fee for open source software, this is allowed as the 'Free' refers to "freedom to see and modify the source code ("libre")" not "free of charge ("gratis")" although the software can also be free of charge.

I believe Red Hat justifies their fees by offering support.

Seems like a perfect solution, charge for your software if you like, but apply GPL to your own code too if you used others' code with a GPL.

I can tell you that I try to give back to the ML community by helping in the forum and taking a little bit of the burden off the developers in that way.

I can appreciate all the VERY HARD WORK done by ML contributors and plan to help in more ways in the future, just kind of spread thin right now.

Yeah, picture style does not get applied to the DNGs when shooting ML RAW, but I do believe such meta-data is recorded and can be applied to the footage in post (so, maybe they did apply picture style in post without realizing it. This could easily occur if not proficient in ML RAW post processing workflow).

But either way, what was with all those purposely over and under exposed shots? Why bother comparing anything but correctly exposed footage???

Also, why include the GH4 and the 1DC? He states it's all ungraded footage, OK, but they don't shoot RAW and apply picture styles in-camera, so in a sense these cameras' footage have been color graded.

Seems to be quite an unscientific excercise in camera comparison in which the authors themselves admit to many mistakes. So nice idea, but poor execution

Is the current card with ML on it bootable?

Resolve isn't working btw, it's asking for a license dongle, and I just wanted to try the free version first.

You probably downloaded the wrong version, carefully read the version descriptions on their website, especially the app title, it's easy to download the wrong version.

Try reformatting to FAT32 with the PC, maybe some luck.

Which format did you use on the Mac? Try FAT32 or exFAT.

Free apps for experimental software are sometimes more focused on solid and stable functionality rather than fully-featured/feature rich graphical user interfaces and may have actually started off as a command-line tool with no GUI at all.

I'm sure the developer is interested in receiving user feedback, that's how apps get better, but keep in mind the free, open source, and experimental environment in which ML and its related apps exist in.

Also, with cross-platform apps, the GUI objects don't always translate well from OS to OS, so app creators may opt to minimize the usage of such to streamline development considering they are donating their time.

I can confirm you can get Apple ProRes 4444 XQ codec in Compressor 4.1.2

Have you done a low level format on the cards lately?

Is the .mlv file corrupted?

Either way, try another .mlv to .dng app and see what happens.

Search 'raw to dng converter windows' or 'mlv to dng converter windows'.

quick question.. How do you get the washed out/raw  LOOK out of the camera? It seems to be auto colored in CameraRaw in After Effects.

Check your ACR settings, are they default?

Either way, applying a Log Conversion LUT (like VisionLog/CineLog) in ACR will convert your DNGs into Log space, which has a very washed out/dull look.

Try another mlv to dng converter and see what you get.
