Thanks to N/A we now can make use of A1ex latest cr2hdr20bit binary. Just updated with some other things.
Thanks!

Thanks for sharing but post technical details, please (camera & lens used, mlv or h264, ML features, etc.).

Its due to processing newer mlv files, all my recent files export just fine but older ones cause it to hang up. One error I've found is from

AttributeError: 'MLRAW' object has no attribute 'bodySerialNumber'

Yes, the max height in non-crop is 1728, you can get 2496x1044 for roughly 13 or 14 seconds in crop mode. By default it crops from the center but this can be changed with the joystick. The camera crops from the sensor and unfortunately we can't record the full resolution of it in raw.

Which commands do you use for dcraw? dcraw uses color matrices from adobe dng converter but I think someone said in another thread that they're outdated. Does -w work better? On a sidenote, there was an updated version (9.23.0) posted yesterday, I'll see if I can compile that one soon. On overtime right now, I really need to figure out how to compile c for os x on my android based galaxy lol.

Port didn't work for me either, got to the building gcc status and never progressed after 2 hours. On another note, I compiled ml_dng for 7d, I'll pm you when I put it through the paces. Had to list dng before silent in the makefile.modules.default to get silent to build, a bug or something I messed up?

(one big issue is that neither of these will compile with Apple's C compiler, and last time I tried to compile GCC, it failed and I gave up).
How did you manage to get it working? I had success with "brew install gcc49" and simply symlinked it to /usr/bin/. To compile dcraw 9.23 for mac I found a command to build with "llvm-gcc" and just changed it to "gcc". Runs pretty well, considering its a 2009 MacBook.

Thanks N/A. I,ll update if it doesn,t give me that greenish picture I got from another compile :).

Lol I hope not, no warnings or errors when I compiled so I think we're safe

Awesome app, thanks for sharing. I noticed dcraw had been updated to 9.23, I've got my compiler finally working so I compiled the newest version for Mac.

QuoteI get the following exiftool error when using this build of cr2hdr:
Hexadecimal number > 0xffffffff non-portable at /usr/bin/lib/Image/ExifTool/Writer.pl line 2878.
Hexadecimal number > 0xffffffff non-portable at /usr/bin/lib/Image/ExifTool/Writer.pl line 2878.

They open fine in ACR/LR but have no preview, so if I use the --compress option, which enables the .dng to be displayed in preview, it comes out like this-
I fixed the exiftool error by placing cr2hdr into my usr/bin folder. Still getting the pink pictures in Preview when processing 7d pictures with --compress, but interestingly my 600D dual iso's have a normal preview.

For the record, HDR video and Dual Iso video are two different features, HDR video uses 60p h264 video at alternating iso's. But neither are available for 7d.

Shoot Preparation / 7d FPN and iso 6400
January 31, 2015, 11:45:09 PM
I've found that fpn (fixed pattern noise, or vertical stripes in shadows) is blatantly obvious at iso 3200, somewhat at 1600, but at iso 6400 it becomes hardly noticeable, and there is a significant difference in sharpness and color accuracy at 6400, which is to be expected. But is iso 6400 a digital push from 3200, from a lower iso or an actual analog iso? The difference can clearly be seen going from iso 4000 to 5000 in 5x zoom. It almost looks as though 6400 is a push from 1600?

Use a high quality grey card under even lighting, you can even defocus on it to see if that helps. And I specify high-quality because I've ordered two different cheapo grey cards from the internet and they were both totally different shades of grey. >_<

General Help Q&A / Re: 600D crop mode, correct usage?
January 31, 2015, 10:34:21 PM
Yup, just zoom in like normal up to 3x for h264, anything over 3x zoom in h264 is digital and reduces quality; therefore ML blocks it by default. And I don't have my 600D now but I believe for raw and mlv crop mode you would just record the same way, but in 5x zoom, since mlv resolutions are configureable and working from a sensor crop as opposed to a digital zoom, this does not hurt image quality.

Has anyone ever used Digital Dolly successfully on 7d? When I have it enabled under MLV menu, it doesn't move at all in 5x view, and when it isn't enabled moving the joystick while recording crashes the camera and I get the following log-

ASSERT: !IS_ERROR( TryPostEvent( this->hTaskClass, this, EV_VD_INTR_LV, NULL, 0 ) )
at LVState.c:485, task ?
lv:1 mode:3

Anybody want to double-check this for me so we can know it is an issue and not just my camera? If it is an issue I'll submit it to the bugs page.

They say 1/48 shutter speed for 24p is the universal rule but don't be afraid to experiment, 1/96 results in a sharp frame while still keeping a decent motion blur.

Or you could buy a Zeiss   8)

I had to Google the meaning of that phrase, just learned something new. Thanks!

Expanding on poromaa's suggestion, maybe have an option to have a full-size embedded jpeg preview, and use it as the proxy? Low rez proxies would work too but might get complicated when we have to edit our project settings for different resolutions.
