I wanted to give a little encouragement to any 650D'ers out there who haven't taken the ML Raw plunge yet.

We just shot the entire series of the First Five Years @ 1280x720 24fps and many takes were well over several minutes.  We used the Sandisk Extreme Pros.

If you want to see it, I posted it in the "Share your Videos" section of this forum: http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=12998.0

Agent not wanting to sound mean or anything, but why would you shoot in raw if at the end you left the colours so neutral? Its like watching HD video from any handheld camera
#4
Why is there an *.fir file in today's build?
#5
Mlv is slower right? I mean because of all those metadata?
#6
MLV video is much slower than RAW.

Is it how its suppose to be or its something that will get better with time?

As canon already implemented Some audio features, inwould say that is verry low priority. Aldo you are always Welkom to implement something yourself.

It would oldo be nice if you can be more specific as to what is missing now

A little bit off subject here but hey..!

I always found it quite hypocritical (no personal offence  to you, blade) to "welcome" people to work on some feutures they like to have. I mean, if they even knew the littlest thing on how do it they would probably work on it already. People asking are usually people who not only dont have any idea on programming but maybe even sometimes dont have any idea on the backround of the stuff they are requesting.  On the other hand I know it can serve as purpose to remind people that this is done by non other than us. Anyway just blubbing on, had some beers and cant keep my mouth shut.  :)

But what are you waiting for exactly? PDR kinda works, right?
Well, like you said it

Kinda, under perfectly controllable case scenarios and specific resolutions should be ok.

Real world scenarios not so much :)

Common sense: do you really expect ML to turn a 18 megapixel sensor into a 162 megapixel one?!

This is exactly what you are asking for (18x3x3 = 162).

Come on now Alex! dont be harsh :) that sometimes happens to me as well.

You see V3-571G, When recording video the camera doesnt record in 18MP. So in order to use the whole sensor and get all the image down it does a lot resizing and some line skipping in order to get the whole frame down to 1080p. which is apprx. 2.1MP. Which means you have a lot headroom there to do lossless zoom right? So it basically records a  zoomed in image instead of the whole sensor with much less resizing. Think of it as cropping an 18MP image to 2.1MP instead of resizing it to 2.1MP.

So in the case of photo its apparent that it already uses the whole 18MP so forget zooming beyond that point!

This version has some interesting features like various interface choices.
I also modified some things regarding resolution choices. Now I just choose vertical and horizontal resolutions separately (multiples of 16) instead of horizontal and aspect ratio.

I will perform some testing, and if the module will work stable, i then can share it with you.
(I just don't want to burn up any cameras other then mine)

Great stuff there :) Thanks for letting us know mate

I'm using modified raw_rec from pravdomil's source.
https://bitbucket.org/pravdomil/magic-lantern-hack/commits/all

Well even though I have no idea how would i do that, at least that gives a good explanation! thanks mate!

Ok, another good news.
Thanks to mk11174, we found a timer address for 650D (0xFF527E38), and small hacks now fully working.

This gives us another tiny speed increase: 38.5 Mb/s vs previous 37.7
For example, now you can record 1504x640 (2.35:1) continiously.

When I'm using my favorite resolution 1536x640 now recording time before skipping is about 1.5 minutes, previously it was around 42-44 secs.

Rewind the maximum i get with small hacks enabled is 38.1Mb/s. And I have the 32 GB SanDisk Extreme Pro® SDHC™ UHS-I Memory Card 95Mb/s.

How do you get 38.5?

I would assume that they are FAT 32 but I will check.  Can you help me understand how exfat would make a difference in write rates?

Thanks :)

dave
I am not exactly sure mate, but it did help me,
#16
try formatting your card on exfat if they are not
#17
Thanks spider :) will try that first thing tomorrow!
#18
though that info doesnt help.. is this a bug or something?
#19
I've just noticed that the recording stops after the first 4GB, Somehow after its finishing the *.raw file and starts writting the *.r00 everything become messed up. The buffering changes and it stops.
#20
well maybe my cards needs a format then. I dont know. its weird
#21
Guys is it my idea or has the raw writting performance on 1280*720 dropped down?

I could write continously on this a while ago, while now it can't.

Anybody stopping you from doing that?

Welcome to open source world ;)

Man you have no idea how greatful I am from that!

But on the other hand I'm not one of those guys who understand nich about programming. So am on the side that waits and use whatever its given as much as I can! :)

turning Dual iso "off" is a solution for "error ISOless PH err(2)"  indeed.

now, i have one (1) question:

how can i use dual iso while it is turned off?

With the power of your mind
