You should be able to get whatever shutter speed you want now since its ADTG not head timers.

ADTG doesn't solve anything about shutter speed freedom.

g3gg0 wrote to me about this topic when I asked to him if ADTG can solve the shutter speed/jello effect limitations:

"
There are the same technical limitations like before.

Hi shutter speed requires a fast clock. But the timer for fps has a limited range.
So you can only have 1/(adtg_val) 'th of the fps rate as shutter speed iirc.
But thats long ago when i understood that.

Technically nothing new. We access these registers since months, but in a indirect way.
"

Do you all agree ? Or there is something new here ?

Hi guys, I´m a little lost. Where I can find the newest builds (nightly) fot the 550D?. I scrolled the forum and the last I found is Rewind's 21/6. Thanks.

The nightly builds are only for the unified (no raw video module). If you want the latest nightly build with raw video inside it, you must compile yourself and take the latest raw module to add.

Max is [email protected] continuous AFAIK. Number of frames recorded at real 1080p vary a lot, but it's not continuous yet I think.

You can do 1080p 23,9fps continuous with andy600 tragic lantern latest version + a cf card that can do at least 80mb/s continuous as the lexar 32gb 1000x !

I don't think that will work, looks like there are certain addresses that need to be found first for our camera and added to the module code.

These are the ADTG and CMOS values for 550D (tested and ok) :

#define ADTG_WRITE_FUNC   0xff27ee34
#define CMOS_WRITE_FUNC   0xff27f028
#define CMOS16_WRITE_FUNC 0
#define CARTRIDGE_WRITE_FUNC 0

Do someone has time to compile ?  ;)

If this works on the 600D doesnt it mean the 550D should have the ability as well?

Read the last 1% quote on our old 550D raw video thread: http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=5582.new#new
It seems possible... we must investigate asap !  ;D

Dual ISO for 550d possible?

Unfortunately not, 550D lacks the necessary hardware inside her...  :'(

I am guessing that you have a problem with you USB drive which is disconnecting and connecting.  Try a different USB.

I have written another manual on how to add Shared Folders and solve other problems:

Great! Many thanks Renato! You saved my day! I will try your solutions soon! Thanks again! Indeed!

so u mean it really cuts down the fps in hdr mode?
yeah seems like 15 fps max if shot on 30 fps

not much for normal video stream.

no, simply with 60fps you can record subjects that moves more fast with no ghosting effects, while at 30fps you can record moving subjects that moves half the speed than at 60fps. otherwise ghosting effects appears

oh yeah?

but there is HDR feauture in magic lantern

what is difference between dual iso and expo bracketing raw video shooting?

With dual iso you can record with no motion problems, while in hdr video you have to pan slowly and record slow moving subjects, or you must record twice the fps speed you need (for example you must record 60fps if you want normal motion recording tolerance) otherwise strange ghost effects arise. On 50D you cannot do 60fps, so only on 550D you can (intended for a camera in the same price range). On the other hand, with dual iso movies, there is a lot of aliasing... very bad... so with some subjects it is almost unusable... surely this mode is not good at all for production purposes

So, Duel ISO is only for photography. It's not a video thing at the moment?

Not video at the moment. There are some problems in LV where dual iso is not applicable, at least for the moment. 1% is working hard on this. Perhaps it's due to the lack of ADTG registers. I offered help on the dual iso thread, we will see!

5DII has multiple regs in LV? 50D probably won't work in LV as its just one REG, I can try to set the spacing to 0.

It doesn't do anything in LV so far but photo works.

cr2hdr doesn't take wildcards in windows but on linux its working, odd.

Many compliments for this astounding achievement 1% ! For the LV problem, if it can be of help, I can dig inside rom to find more ADTG regs, if this route has not been squeezed dry yet...

Yes and thanks! I now understand the width part. Is the height calculated the same way?

Best wishes,
Derrick

Anamorphic means no-morphic, so not keeping the original shape. Only one dimension is squeezed, normally horizontal one. So height is not at all affected. This is the beauty and the main characteristic of anamorphic lens.

Hi guys. My test
I used MEOPTA ANAGON 2X Projection Anamorphic attachment with lens helios 44m on my canon550d
SD card
resolution - 960x540
aspect ratio 16:9
24 fps

1920x540 (3,55:1) on post

WOW ! Very interested ! Can you tell how you connected the anamorphic lens to the helios lens and then to 550D ? Can you post photos of the overall look and photos of particulars on how they are hooked up ? Many thanks !

dlrpgmsvc can you please post your success story here, it would be helpful: http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=7383.0
Thanks

I have no 5dmk3! Only a 550d and a 50d... not applicable as for your thread title, right?

Lexar card readers should be avoided (source forum).

Many thanks ! Very informative ! I was buying one ! Steering now immediately ! You saved me troubles, money and the day ! It is so easy to do 1+1=2, so: Lexar card = good --> Lexar card + Lexar reader = Perfect.    Many thanks !  ;)

You cannot draw conclusions from the price. Democratization of goods is happening.

You even didn't read the link I posted, so you cannot draw conclusions on only one line of my text.

There is no democratization on quality. This is a well established market rule, and forever will be.
The price difference is so huge you cannot talk about democratization ! What democratization ? Chinese one ? Obtained by breaking human rights ?

1050x Lexar are prototyping, and all tests cards failing (even for a small speed amount) are leaked out and marketed by KomputerBay.
This is a normal behaviour.

However, if you still believe in Santa Claus, you are free to believe, but not try to pass for wrong who don't.

I base my conclusions on facts and bibliography (see my link and other posts on the forum).

Obviously, who bougth kb cards will defend himself from an unwise choice to the Death, and it is understandable. But the truth is out there...

If komputerbay cards costs so much less than real branded ones like Lexar, there is a reason. They are Lexar defective ones. The defect consist of not reaching the minimal guaranteed read and or write speed. But this is intended not necessarily throughout all the card memory space, but even on only small areas here and there. So this explains the above user results where, at a certain point, the write speed drops abruptly. These komputerbay cards are a real lottery: you can be lucky enough to receive a card whose min write speed is enough for your raw video at your resolution, but also not. Perhaps the low speed area of your komputerbay card will be so at the end of the total memory that you will never use it and so you will be never affected by a problem. And the vendor may also will not refund you for speeds reasons. Someone even talked with a komputerbay representative, and you can find a full report here: http://www.eoshd.com/content/10433/which-compact-flash-cards-for-5d-mark-iii-raw-video.
So, long made short: it is quite pointless to discuss on komputerbay cards, measure them, show personal results or compare their performances. It is a total waste of time, obviously on my humble and personal opinion. I'm only tring to be of help to others to save their time on tests, and others (who still don't have one yet) to save money.

Here, the first post of akumiszcza --> http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=6554.100
says that only some minutes of fullhd are possible (in fact, on screen we can see max 3420 frames calculated).

Then, some more posts down, Watson says he manage to record 1080p continuous (no time/frames limitations).

So, what is the truth ? And 1080p continuous (if it exists on 50D) is 30fps or 24fps ?

Many thanks in advance for any replies !  ;)

Komputerbay 32GB 1000x card is working really well with the most recent build GregoryOfManhattan, thanks!

Getting over a full minute of 1920x1080 with no special exfat formatting, just running it through the card.

Do you manage to have a realtime preview of the full real field of view on the live view display, or do it's cropped also ? Do it jumps or it's fluid ? And color or b/w ?

Ok, some values have been set for the 50D in adtg_log.c but must be wrong. I don't know where or how to find the correct values. Looked in stubs etc but cant see any cmos addresses. Does it mean dumping the FW to find the correct numbers?

Yes... however I have read that 1% managed to dump 50D and found the values, for sure. So, you can ask him or disassemble by yourself the ROM. If you decide this latter option, I can assist you.

Ok, no they don't change. Where do you change the start_cmos value?

it is at start of "adtg_log.c" inside "src" and then "modules" directory

I see 8x cmos values. Not sure what you mean by 'running'? They don't change.

When you enable adtg_log and then you exit from ml menu (back to liveview mode), you should see the 8 cmos values printed onto the viewfinder that change continuously. Do this happens ? It should. If you see the values unchanged and fixed at 0 value (on vf, not inside the menu), then it's a problem of start_cmos hardcoded value: are you sure it's correct ?
