Feature Requests / Re: Configurable top bar and bottom bar
September 24, 2013, 05:19:26 AM
Well I have to admit this certainly would be a nice feature to have but I can understand the undertaking that this would involve, maybe in the next evolution of ML?

Correct, no changes since the last build

cool thats what I figured, thanks :)

Also LOVE LOVE LOVE the new ML font, so much easier to read and see :)

another question, when it comes to the nightly, is only modules that have tested and known to work being included with the builds? I just ask because I see talks of other modules in different parts of the forum that I dont see in these builds, so I was just curious.
#28
when the change log is empty does that imply nothing has changed in the build yet?
#29
question, is it possible to shift ISO levels while the shutter remains open? like for example say at night I wanted to use a flash and an ISO of 400 but then after the flash goes drop the iso back to 100 to only capture the light from the fire... is something like that possible?

Im assuming these shots were done with a tripod?

thanks

what dual ISO settings did you use?

Possible bug: when using a custom ISO or rather one not already defined by Canon say for example ISO 160, when viewing through the canon firmware it shows the ISO 160 mis-aligned from where it is normally listed, Im on build 2013-09-18 17:54:47 -0700.

Are zebras supposed to work with ML negative iso? With the latest build zebras don't work with negative iso.
Negative iso? do you have access to a black hole? last I checked there is no such thing as negative iso but if now there is by all means do tell :)

Hey all,

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, but I searched and couldn't find anything.

I finally installed ML on my T4i last night, and everything seemed to go well. But is it normal for the Exposure Level Indicator on the LCD to obstruct the bottom of the ML screen? Any way to get rid of this?

See here:

Thanks!

Yup a problem and there is good info under there.  However, I believe this is on of the issues mentioned on the first post that is difficult to address.  I may be wrong but I think this is right.

go to your live view screen and press info until no overlays appear and its just the video feed, now go back into your ML menu and the issue is gone.

Check this!!!

650d doesn't exist from Canon site....

http://www.canon-europe.com/Search/index.aspx

http://www.canon-europe.com/For_Home/Product_Finder/Cameras/Digital_SLR/beginners/index.aspx

same for USA site but thats on their product page since the T5i is the T4i with minor cosmetic changes, they want to push the T5i sales so they dropped the T4i, but just like on both USA and Europe you can still put in the search box T4i or 650D and you will find the product page for it.

What? It's already there in cropmarks, PHIPHOTO.BMP and PHIVIDEO.BMP
You can easily flip them around by yourself using any graphics editor.

ahh see when I was going though the crop marks and got to phil nothing was showing up in the preview of it lol so I didnt think it was that, my bad. so if we wanted to make custom ones, all we have to is upload them to the same folder, well thats good to know. :)

I have a request could someone make a custom grid overlay that is of the "Fibonacci Spiral" maybe include 4 versions of it being flipped around a few times? If its not worth wild or you have your reasons for not then I understand, it was only a request. :)

They are totally different. HDR for not moving subjects and gives you a wider range as ISO is best for moving subjects.

and we have a version of HDR for fast moving subjects... Dual ISO ^_^

Dsagilles, you are my HERO!

I've been gone from the forum a couple weeks (wow, topic went from 15 pages to 23!) and I haven't got a chance to mess around with Magic Lantern.

You beat me to the test I wanted to do. Amazing that, even when the footage is expanded (and the Canon firmware footage scaled down) and then compressed for Youtube, the RAW video is the clear winner. Incredible. I really need to install this.

Okay guys, this is going to sound like a really dumb question, and some smart person will probably refer me to another topic I theoretically could have searched for, but I'll ask anway...

What is this "dual ISO" everyone keeps talking about? It sounds like it isn't working right now in this build, but people seem to think it is necesssary to RAW video.

I've read of how Magic Lantern allows Canon users to shoot an an ISO of 160, which some folks say is the "native" ISO of the camera or something like that. Is that what "Dual ISO" is?

Thanks guys again.

it lets you shoot a single picture with two ISO settings so you get a better dynamic range, think HDR but this way works with even fast moving objects but you then have to process the image afterwards so that it looks normal and yes take a look at this thread ;)

can you upload the original raw file? so I can try it on my end and see if I get the same results.

I'm curious as to why you would want a cr2hdr conversion tool on your tablet. The resulting DNG files still need a good deal of PP to get them to look decently exposed. Then you're going to need Lightroom or GIMP/dcraw or whatever running on your tablet also. You might as well just wait until you are back at your 'editing' computer.

Seems like a waste of time. If you are just wanting a preview, then image review does a pretty decent job of blending the exposures.

Sometimes Im on site for a week at a time or Im hiking so yes I could see it being handy to be able to work with a tablet and I already have a program like lightroom on my tablet that lets me work on Raws and DNG just like in lightroom.

As for a decent job blending the image in review mode on the camera you must be doing something different then I am because all I see is distinct lines across the whole image.

Somebody must spend time to maintain the arm port (which is likely to be quite a bit more than just a straightforward compilation of current sources).

If you are willing to do that, be my guest. I'm curious how fast it can go. Maybe put Ubuntu on the Nexus and run it in console?

well I would be willing to buy it so it wouldnt have to be free, shoot Im sure others would like the option as well, maybe we can talk to chainfire, hes done a lot in terms of creating various apps that control Canon DSLRs, including the famed DSLR Controller that offered a lot neat features well before ML finally got around to getting ported.

30% single threaded performance increase is decent enough.  Make it multi-threaded  ;D

ARM is power consumption focused.  It's still going to be rather slow.

I wouldnt be to quick to say such, in the past only high end CPUs could handle HD playback and now its mere childs play for ARM cpus and they have been shown to be fantastic at mathematical calculations which is whats taking place here when processing the image besides why are you so against it? where is the harm in having the option?

The processing time is around 30 seconds on my overclocked 2600k.  I dread to think what it would be like on a current android device.

well if it was designed to take advantage off all the cores I think it would do fine on my quad core Nexus 7 2013.
