Hi hi, I'm just wondering which Raw or not raw camera would you get to start as an independant Filmmaker? I'm talking about cameras under 4000€.
There are the Black Magic Cameras (2.5K version, Pocket version and 4K version)
There is the Digital Bolex (not out yet)
There is the new Kineraw MINI
And of course there is the 5DM3 thanx to ML
There are also a lot of Sony, Canon, Panasonic, etc. which are not RAW but are still called Pro cameras in the same range of price.

So the question really is which one would you get if you had 4000€ to spend, and why?
Then same question but with around 2500€ ?

You're going to be in trouble asking such question! lol
My guess is that it's coming out on Christmas! 

A 70 Euro android tablet, the "DSLR Controller" app, a USB cable, and I solved with very few bucks: near-realtime monitoring & movie save function, with instant replay as you wish ! Don't fuse your head searching for what else exotic solution !

Does the tablet records audio with the video?

it would be amazing if they manage to do it!

I have a 60D, and have been playing with both raw and higher bitrate H264.

I have a 550D and I know what you're saying but the bitrate menu is different on the 6D and 5D3 it has more settings to play with.

I'd like to know more about the H264 bitrate option too, I never took the time to understand it, I just played with it and my recording just keep stoping by itself because I didn't know what I'm doing..

I got my 6D to because it came with the good 24-105mm and it was still cheaper than the 5D3. After few month with it, and now with the possiblity of shooting raw and after playing with it, now I know that I want to mostly work with it, in the best way possible, so either I get a Blackmagic, Digital Bolex, or 5D3 or I just keep quiet and wait until ML final stable version and see how it works with the 6D, and maybe consider a VAF (I don't know if I can it installed in france).

Hi hi, I have been playing around with THE RAW!! on my 6D, and I have to say that it's pretty cool to finally being able to work with some files that can handle color correction! So for that A BIG THANK to all the developers, a1ex, g3gg0, 1%, coutts, and the also to the administrators and contributors of the forum, this is a cool community

I am happy with the RAW quality and its workflow, but I am not happy with my 6D, it has a slow SD slot, we have to fix aliasing color from moire, we can't record sound while recording, and we can't record 1080p. I know there are work around for some of my complaints, but it would just be easier to have a 5Dm3 and not care about those stuff at all, just like with a video camera.

So here is my little comparaison of RAW vs H264 with my 6D.

Hi hi, thanx Noisyboy for this guide, I already had ML on my 6D since march but I haven't done any update so far.

Now I came by your post to play around with RAW so I formated my card and I got all the latest files, but I have one problem that I didn't have before, and that 2 other persons on this thread are complaining about, but after reading all the pages here it seems that nobody helped them with that problem : ML menu quitting by itself after 5 seconds or less  if you don't touch anything.

Are we all having this issue? If not, what should we do to fix it? Is it something in canon menu that should be off? Or in ML menu?

Another question, in the guide your are talking about the modules lv_rec.mo and raw_rec.mo
But I can also see :
- bolt.mo
- ettr.mo
- file_man.mo
- pic_view.mo
What are those modules for? Pic_view is intriging... Can we play raw files on cam...?
All those modules are set in Autoload, should we keep it this way? Or should we turn off some for best raw performance?

is it harder to add this shortcut on the 6D ? because it's really helpful

I just saw that with its CF card slot the 5D3 with can manage RAW at 1920×1080 for a limited number of frames and at 1920×840 it can record until the 4GB file size is reached.
It's pretty cool! (For 5D3 owners...) I felling bad now because I chose the 6D over the 5D3!

Anyway, with all that new knowlegde that you've got developing RAW at different resolution, do you think it will be possible to have one day 60fps at 1920x1080 even with lower bitrate?

The settings that I use for my camera right now for actual shoots where I need 100% reliability is IPB: VBR: init qp = 6 (any lower and its a risk of it blowing up) max bitrate = 10.  This gives good results and has been 100% reliable thus far.

Hi, thanx for sharing your settings ^_^ , you say it's 100% reliable with your 6D but we don't know what SD card you're using, can you tell which SD card you're using and also its score with the ML benchmark please?

the $6 or whatever it is for VisionColor is totally worth it and it's also now supported by FilmConvert too! Yippee

I just got myself the Visiontech, I'll do some test with it and with Filmconvert too.

the 95MB/s extreme is expensive juste for 3MB/s more...

too bad the 6D isn't 100% compatible with it! Canon doing that on purpose to stop us from getting crazy bitrates!

My cards benchmarks :

- 16GB sandisk extreme HD Video 30MB/s. = ML benchmarks 33MB/s

- 32GB sandisk extreme pro 95MB/s. = ML benchmarks 37,9MB/s

Almost the same result...

I'd like to know ML bench result of the sandisk extreme 45MB/s, anyone got this one?

Hi, thank you all for you cool compliments on my video, I must have forgot to check notification on reply, I thaught I got no comments until now.

Did you shoot it all in that shallow DOF or did you blur things in post?

I used a motorized dolly and set it up to go slow, and I set the t2i on intervallometer 1 picture every 10sec, in between each shot I had to move the toys, and focus the lens  little by little (Canon 50mm @f1.8 ), it was not easy, I started over 5 times, because my hands was in the shot, or because I hit the dolly and moved it by accident.
When I got it right, it took 2h30.

Hi, I'm now using ML with 113 and it looks like the ML menu flickers more often.

I have a feature request : wouldn't it be cool to be able to change the audio level easily with the Arrow/Set shortcuts?
Right now it only works for iso/kelvin , shutter/aperture, and LCD bright/saturation.
How about mic level/headphone volume (for 5DIII) ?

I just checked in canon menu, it was set to turn off after 1 minute... I feel like a noob now... lol

I just discovered that new UI in ML menu when we press <Menu> button, it's pretty cool!

Until the menu starts working at least 112 is the only option.

Hi, I did a downgrade to 112, ML worked fine, but I just had a bug that I already got before with the 1st 6D that I got that was acting weird, when I am in movie mode, the 6D might turn off by itself at random moment (still rare but still not so cool).
I had peaking on (blinking dot) and zebra on, auto iso, ipb 24, I wasn't recording, I was just walking around in my home without looking at the screen , and it just turn off

do you think it's the peaking and zebra overheating the cpu or something ?

Hi I got a new 6D + 24-70mm (the 1st I received was acting weird) this one works fine.
This new 6D is on 1.1.3 , so is it ok to install ML on it?
Should I install 1.1.2 and this install ML, then update to 1.1.3??

I checked the video in 1080p fullscreen, and I don't see the moire you're talking about , you guys are exaggerating a bit, aren't you?
