Messages - rktaylor

I hope I understand the upgrade of my firmware correctly going from 1.1.3 to 1.1.6.

I've had 1.1.3 installed for the last few years and it's worked fine.  I want to upgrade to 1.1.6.

It appears that all I need to do is:

1.  Upgrade 6D's firmware to 1.1.6
2.  Copy the following over to my SD card
     a. Autoexec.bin
     b. ML directory
     c. ML-6D116.FIR

Is that the necessary steps with a camera that already is using 1.1.3?

Now that there is a new 6D installer binary for 1.1.3 file is there any advantage to reinstall ML?

It works perfectly and I've been running it from Tragic Lantern and change back to ML when it reappeared on the nightly downloads.

Thanks and great work!!!
Thanks for bringing it back to the nightly builds !!!

Thanks 1%

So it looks like I can continue to download from the Nightly Build until you produce one.  When you compile yours wouldn't it be the same one from the Nightly Build on that date or are they different?  Sorry ... I'm just trying to understand where they are different.

Thanks again!

Question about downloading from the Nightly Builds instead of from OtherOnePercent/TragicLantern

Do we now download from the Nightly Build section on this web site rather then from OtherOnePercent/TragicLantern?  If we do then I noticed that the is not in the build.  Were do we get the current version for the 6D?  Currently I downloaded it from the OtherOnePercent/TragicLantern site.  Is that correct or is there a more current/updated version for the 6D?

Once again, your team is AMAZING!  I need to make a more current contribution.  THANKS!!!

Are there any more nightly builds other then 'NewRecOpt'?  I down loaded it from this discussion group but I have not found anything after that.  I read somewhere that this is a problem with the general download site.

It appears that the final conclusion is that the Sandisk Extreme 45MB/s SD card is the fastest for the Canon 6D ... correct?

But one thing is strange - if top speed is 40 how can we have 41-41,5 for a second or so sometimes (both sandisk 45 and patriot 50).

My only guess would be that the buffers are more available for moments at a time which is why we're seeing a spike.  What a challenge and hats off to the development team to get us this far. ;)

Yep, jpeg, no raw.

I don't have the camera to double check but last night when I switched to camera mode (stills) and changed from RAW to jpeg the red light by the SD card door would not stop flashing.  Is that normal?

From the results above it looks like the Extreme (not Pro) 45MB/s is the second best choice by a very small margin.  With the write speed slightly better on the Pro but not enough to justify the price.  I was hoping that the Patriot EP Pro SDHC UHS-I 90/50 MB/s with the 50 MB/s but it appears to be hitting the hardware write speed limit.
Has there been any more research on the fastest card for the 6D?

I currently have the Sandisk Extreme 45MB/s - 32GB and I was looking at getting another one.  Is there any advantage to getting a Sandisk Extreme Pro 95MB/s?  There does not appear to be any real advantage since the Canon 6D is limited to 50MB/s.

Any new information available?

Is this to be expected in the current builds ...

With the ML menu on in LiveView it kicks me out of the ML menu after about five to seven seconds.  If I keep turning the wheel or moving the cursor the menu stays up until I stop and then after five to seven seconds the ML menu shuts down.

Is this normal?

I would also be very interested in your workflow.

1. I don't think this is possible
2. Turning off HaCKed mode will enable liveview again
3. I believe rc.ini is needed... rate control? or something like that.
4. Don't know what you mean?

Thanks  ... in video mode if I don't use the ML menu it goes away after 5 to 6 seconds.  It continues to display as long as I'm moving around in the menu.  It does not do that when I'm using my camera for still ... only in the video mode.

I've just started playing with the RAW video side this weekend.

I have a few questions with the current releases

1.  Is it possible to set a default resolution of 1504x630 so when I turn the camera on it's already set?
2.  When I record I don't get a live view.  I just get a still of from when I started taking the picture.  Am I doing something wrong?
3.  When I change to video it displays B:/ML/rc.ini ... should it do that or is the file not required?
4.  I'm also guessing that the flicker every 5 seconds (if I'm not using the menu) is normal unless I don't have the setting correct.

thanks for the help and the great development work by all involved!!!

Is it still necessary to have the "Lv_REC.MO" file in the Module directory or can I delete it?

Never mind ... I can see that it is necessary.

I just updated to the newest 113 bin successfully and I get a "Scripts Dir Missing" message when booting.  I added an ML/SCRIPTS directory and the message goes away so apparently there is something to goes there.  Are there any files to put in that directory?

New lens, used lens?

The flicker is from the dialog opening in the background so you can use scroll wheels. This was a1ex's fix. Someone complained the wheels were timing out. Its like this on 5d3/m/650D i believe.

Are you says that if flickers based on the lens?  I have four lenses of which I bought three new and one used.  I will test it on each lens tonight.

So the solution for now is to delay the flicker is by turning the wheel before it flickers?  When I do it still flickers after 7 seconds.

Am I missing something?

With the latest autoexec.bin-TodayCommits I'm still getting the flicker every 6 to 7 seconds when I use ML in LV?

It looked like that had been resolved under issues.

BTW ... GREAT JOB 1%!!!!

I just recently re-ran the test form my 50mm 1.4 lens using All Lenses and got an AF microadjust of -1 ... does that mean it will adjust all of my lenses by -1?  I also went into the C.FnII:Autofocus Canon Menu and I can see where it adjusted 'All by the same amount.  Should I go into 'Adjust by Lens' to customize it per lens?

Thanks ... just trying to understand the process.

Quote 1%:

Should not be 0 on most lenses. Canon menu -> lcd on/off remains on. What happens with the squares? I just ran on tokina 11-16 again in less than perfect focus and got +11.

So what happens with all lenses? Doesn't scale?

Sorry very busy time of the year for me and have not had time to figure out the quote option ... but ...

If you are referring to the 'Live view Shoot' option it is enabled.

The squares (for all four lenses) are successful (large boxes) all the way across the screen both ways ... I'm sure I'm not doing something right.  Under the AFMA mode I've tested only for 'This Lens' and have not run the test for 'All Lenses'.  I'm not sure what you mean about 'Doesn't scale'.

When I have a spare time I'll continue testing.  Thanks for the response.

I'm new at this but if I understand correctly this will auto calibrate my lenses with the proper AFMA and adjust appropriately in my C.FnII: Autofocus settings for each lens ... correct?

Here are the steps I followed with all four (see below for my lenses) I own.

1.  Good Lighting
2.  Set to manual focus
3.  Focus on high contrast subject ... in my case I used a focus graph found on internet
4.  Go to DotTurne and scan with default (-20...+20)
5.  Ran through testing

the results was Zero with all of my lenses ... does that seem right?
If I did get an adjustment would it auto recognize the lenses attached and use the appropriate adjustment.

As you can see below my camera is a Canon 6D

A1ex's fix maybe solved the card format problem? I ported the afma stuff. Still trying to fix the big silent pics.

I have a basis question ... I've been downloading the autoexec.bin file from you compile it.  What do I download to benefit from A1ex's fix (maybe) for the format problem?

I used ML with my 550D close to the beginning of ML and loved it but recently sold it and purchased the 6D.  I finally decided to install ML yesterday using the autoexec.bin-SilentPic build and it seems to be fairly unstable.  I would imagine that this is primarily due to it being still in the development stages.

The question I have is being that it is still in development will I ever need (baring a new firmware update from Canon) to upgrade the 6D-fir file?  Is that still being developed?  It seems that the only file I will need to update is the autoexec.bin file as it changes and continues to be developed ... is that correct?

Thanks for your efforts and I've always enjoyed following the development of ML!
