I'm wondering too, is it possible or just fake videos.

Raw Video / Re: 24fps vs 48fps sharpness
November 27, 2014, 03:16:38 PM
Davinci, AE or PP... I think software can't do anything scaling and streching. You have 508 line horizontally and streching to 816 line. If you add more sharpening, i agree DaVinci is the best. But without extra sharpening all the same. Am I wrong?

Photoshop has some options like preserve details, bicubic smoother, bicubic sharper, bilinear etc. But Ae or Davinci does not have this options. AE has "Detail-preserving Upscale" and "Sharpen" options. If i want to more details i use that presets.

I never never thought like "do not post here". We are not only use ML. So this sharpness comparison needed to seperate topic because there was no comparison like that in forum. It's very useful for most ML users.

Thank you Andres.

I think there is no "big" difference.(Maybe it's about compression) Can you post both original RAW single frame? (PNG is the best.)

And also you should open new discussion about that. :)

Thank you Andres.
Stretching is so simple. I mostly use After Effects.

- Import to 1920x508 footage to AE library.
- Create a new composition (1920x816)
- Drag your 1920x508 footage to composition
- Right click to footage and select Transform > Fit to comp

Thats it. In Raw module there is streching information. So you know what final sizes will be in post. When you use streching you will lose some pixels but i think it's not considerable.

All shot taken handheld.

- 5D Mark III
- Tamron 24-70 f2.8
- 1920x508 50fps (stretched to 1920x816)
- MlRawViewer 1.4.1

It has invervalometer... Huuuuge improvement!!! Amazing feature! No need ML :)

+1

I can record 1080, so it's not problem for me but my friend has a slower card and he asked me that problem.  Is it possible to see 720(or any size smaller than 1080) stretch to full LiveView while recording?

Thank you.

@nk87 It's amazing work! Day to night moving looks fantastic!

Some tricks about hyperlapse:
1- Buy a tripod dolly(20$) or move tripod manually
2- Use wide angle lens as possible. (14mm-24mm)
3- Keep object center(Magic lantern Ghost Image with auto update feature helps a lot)
4- Move tripod
5- Use After Effects warp stabilizer.

edit: Use slower shutter speed. For instance 1/5 better than 1/800 for hyperlapse.

Processed photos are here:

They are not processed.  Just highlight and shadow recovery. And I agree second photo's background silly :)

Well, the technical side apart: As a photographer I like the first one more than the second one.
Second one it's the opposite. The blown areas are just to disturbing.
Background issue with the second example.

Spoken as a geek/nerd: Impressive demonstration of dynamic range enhancement enable by latest developments.

Location?

Tony5diii talking about this:

But i think it's not possible. Could be much more usable without cropping.

Some lenses on infinity go past the sweet spot..

Yes, some fast lenses has this issue. For example my samyang 35mm f1.4 @1.4-1.8 and canon 50mm [email protected]. But i use wide angle lenses for long exposure. And most of them 2.8.

I don't need to focus for stars. For astrophotography just make focus infinity.

We are shooting RAW video and still talking about picture profiles. What a shame! :)

I think mysterious "d" was a canon engineer :)

Quote from: a1ex on May 29, 2013, 06:15:06 PM
Technically it's possible to have real-time playback, but it will still be black and white (unless someone like "d" makes an ultra fast color raw developer in ASM :P )
#43
So we have accurate deflickering! I hope it works well. Are we gonna use your deflickering application? Or it doesn't need any deflicker touch in post?
#44
Thank you. I will try.

It already works, but you can't exceed the resolution of regular DNG silent pics.

(well, you can if move the zoom box around and stitch a few pics...)
#45
Is opposite could work? Lower fps at hi-res? I'm not a 4K troll, but would be good for 3-4K RAW time-lapse. Yes, silent pics takes more than 1080p but it has some limit like long exposure(at least 1sec.)

And also I tried silent pics with "take pics like crazy", it uses shutter. But 1 second and more it takes silent pics.

Quote from: a1ex on May 21, 2013, 03:16:35 PM
It might work at 37fps, where the H264 encoder is not fast enough, but LiveView is still alright. Other than that... no.
#46
I think it's possible(in theory) to take 2,5-3K RAW at 1-2 fps but not possible 480p RAW at 80-90 fps.

Quote from: Andy600 on May 21, 2013, 03:01:25 PM
Am I correct in thinking that (in theory) raw DNG FPS can be increased substantially in low resolutions (480p) for ultra slow-mo? It would be fun to try it :)

I think they will see your post and fix it. :) At this time developers focused on RAW recording but i know a1ex has 60D. He can fix it when he has time.

Or you can post your request here:  http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?board=24.0

but when I press Q button in Ghost image nothing change. No submenu there in 60d (ML 2.3)

I think it's there. But menu is little bit confusing. SET for ON/OFF. Q for Auto Update: ON/OFF. Try that.

unfortunately in 60d only ON and OFF. But no AUTO UPDATE :(

I use 5D3 and it's very simple... Like ON, OFF and AUTO UPDATE. Auto Update allows last image overlay in LiveView every time.  Maybe 60D there is no Auto Update. I don't know. We should ask to developers.

Quote from: nk87 on May 14, 2013, 12:21:24 PM
Yes, you are right!
But I don't know how to set Auto Update in Ghost Image (canon 60d). May you explain it?

Final word:
DO NOT BUY KINGSTON 600X COMPACT FLASH CARD! In computer benchmark says 60-70 Mb/s(finally). In camera it's only 30Mb/s. Weird!!!
