I also put the canon menu to 1920x1080 24fps, and also tried 30fps, but no such luck.

Some of us are experiencing this / some are not-- any feedback appreciated!  -kraemer

Hey all,

I got the komputerbay 64GB 1000x card.  However I am not able to REC in 1920x1080.  it will either skip frames, or If I put it into "Stop" instead of "skip", it will only do about 128 frames before it stops.

If I downrez to 1280x720 it seems to do fine.  Wonder if I got a bum card?

Any help appreciated!  Thanks!!!

I finally got it on my 5D3 loaded with the recent raw release-- but i never got to the green screen of text..

Here's what I did:   I  put the bootflag.fir on an SD card, put it in the camera and updated the firmware. Then I took the card out, deleted the bootflag fir file, and put the ml folder and autoexec.bin card in and rebooted.  It seems to work.

I noticed that it will only load the raw video module when booted in the movie mode..is this normal?  I thought I might have messed somthin' up?

Thanks Much Renato, I'll try and soak it all in.  Appreciate your help!

Got one more question:

Ive read several different reports on install methods, read this whole thread three times and I'm confused...  :'(

In the user guide it says:

"There are two ways of running user code on Canon DSLR cameras: 1. Using the update process with a .fir file, which must be digitally signed.

2. Using the bootdisk process: if the camera finds AUTOEXEC.BIN on the card, this file is loaded and executed. This file does not have to be signed, but the BOOTDISK flag must be enabled in the camera and the card must be prepared in a special way (labeled as “bootable”)."

With this latest version (RAW update), when using install method #2 --Do I put the bootflag.fir on the camera, run the installer, then take the card out, delete the bootflag file from the SD card, then put the autoexec.bin and ml folder back onto the card?   This would be pretty easy, but not as easy as alpha 2.3.

Step2, Use macboot to make the CF card bootable?

Thanks in advance for the help,

Hey Gang, I've been experimenting with the Alpha release for the 5D that came out late last year I think,

http://www.magiclantern.fm/whats-new/104-releases/143-second-alpha-for-5d-mark-iii

was wondering how I can get all the still functionality (goodies), like intervalometer, bulb ramp, etc.?
I can only see the video mods?  Can someone please point me in the right direction? thanks!

34
that's how alpha releases works, for safety reasons you have to manually load it with the firmware update procedure each time

Alright Thank you Scrax!  I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything.  DUH I just went back to re-read the 1st page:

NOTES
THIS VERSION OF MAGICLANTERN HAS AUTOBOOT DISABLED
Which means you'll have to re-run the firmware update every time you power off the camera.
It's a safety measure, so don't ask to remove it until the port is stabler

I've enjoyed playing around with this verion, waiting for my faster CF card to arrive before I put on the RAW update.

One other thing.. Could you please point me in the direction to get the still photo feature set?
I seem to only get the video mods, and can't find the still shooting menus?  Thanks Scrax

I have finally abandoned the thought of going nikon.
Now its between the 5D3 and 1DX.  What are the
thoughts about getting ML over to the 1DX?

Great video test. Foliage is a compression grinder for sure.

""
As is discussed in the notes on the Vimeo, the current challenges in getting good results this configuration are: 1) the video via HDMI out is 1620x1080, requiring a zoom to get the same 16x9 image as what the 5D records; 2) The HDMI output is at 1080i, requiring deinterlacing; and 3) the output of the HDMI is 8-bit and might be 4:2:2, but could be 4:2:0.""

Are you saying there's no way to output full uncompressed HD, 1920x1080 out of the current 5Dm3 ?   Interlaced or not; would be ok with me. but 1620?  Can you guys crack it so it will export full rez?

Hi yas foto pals,

In my ongoing search for the right camera, I was wondering if you could help me find out more about the ML timelapse feature for the 5dm3.

Was wondering about it, and seeing if you have used it, do you like it, and can you post any screen shots of what the interface looks like?

Thanks All,  Kraemer

Thanks my bro Malcolm, good news for sure!  I will follow up on that feature for sure.  I will probably wait for the 6d to arrive, and find out if it actually is missing the headphone out...  (the atmos dvr has headphones out built in to it, but I don't use a monitor on all my shoots)

Aren't there any more trolls on here to feed me?

General Help Q&A / Canon or Nikon
« on: November 13, 2012, 01:56:19 AM »
Hi ya'll camera peeps!-- I have done some searching on this forum, but I need to upgrade and wanted some input.

I just sold my SonyPD-150 and Nikon-D90 (which the video sucks).  I am thinking 5Dm3, 6d, or Nikon d600.
For me primarily I need a video camera --thats how I make my $$ --  but the d600 is pretty inexpensive, like the 6d (to be realeased)

One thing the upcoming 6D doesn't apparently have is headphones out!  This is a major bummer.

The new nikon d600 has some good things going for it like-- a built in intervalometer and fill-flash.  It can also output uncompressed to a DVR, which the canon's can't... I understand ML has an intervalometer upgrade, kewl!  - what are some other things I've overlooked?

Will probably need to get the atmos ninja 2 as well --  http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/858661-REG/ATOMOS_ATOMNJA002_Ninja_2.html

Who I say!?,  Who out there has something to say about my future camera choices?  (and the video quality therein)
