Delete AUTOEXEC.BIN and ML directory from card. Copy extracted files (AUTOEXEC.BIN + ML directory) to card. Try again.

Version/build used? Modules loaded?
And this is no speedometer ...

You need an AF lens with AF on.

EDIT
Just for practice:

Use Focus Stacking
Num. pics in front      0
Num. pics behind      3
Focus steps/picture  5

In liveview select focus start point by moving cam or focus ring. Open ML menu and select "Run focus stack (4 pics)" and press SET. Cam will take a pic, changing focus plane a bit into background, take another pic, and so on. Cam will stop after 4 pics and move focus plane to start point.

Is this working for you?

6D users (and others) might disagree here.

tells quite a different story ...

Do you mind if I'll delay it by 1-2 weeks? Right now there were too many crashes reported for my taste (which I couldn't diagnose), and I don't want to flood the forum with support requests. And I'll be away next week.

Sorry about that.

What do you mean by "broken"? Builds failed to compile?

Or do you mean the silent pic bit?

If you don't want to invest 8 Euro in a remote controller and some wire you may just use Trap Focus.

Delete AUTOEXEC.BIN and ML directory. Expand nightly build files, copy AUTOEXEC.BIN and ML directory to card's root and try again.

Load/unload raw_rec and take a look into the movie tab.
Load/unload file_man and take a look into the debug tab.
Load/unload autoexpo and take a look into the expo tab.

Expand the stuff and copy AUTOEXEC.BIN, FIR file and ML directory to card's root and may the gates of hell open and swallow old, outdated and misleading instructions.

A loaded module doesn't do anything but to add or enable some menu options which have to be configured.

Looks like you missed to copy AUTOEXEC.BIN and the FIR file. BTW: Which ML version (version and date) do you have used?

Place dcraw and your CR2 file in the same directory.

I have both firmware 2.1.2 and the ML software in the card and still no install.

Yes, because you shouldn't.
- Format card inside cam, copy extracted ML files into card's root directory and run installation.
And next time read installation description with more care.
