There is a way but "stable" is considered to be outdated.

Remove battery, remove CF card. Insert battery, don't insert card. Startup cam.
Post results.

General Help Q&A / Re: First time with 5D3 and ML...

My advice? Start with 1.2.3 and learn to master your workflow processing MLV/RAW.

Installation procedure for 1.1.3 requires updating to 1.2.3 (no kidding!) and this procedure might cause headaches.

Old "stable ML" is no longer supported and considered outdated. And "stable" doesn't run with 5D3.
Dev team changened release model to "rolling release".

You have to choose which firmware you use with 5D3. At time of writing there are some indications 1.1.3 offers higher data rates.

And http?

Try using http instead of https.

1920 x 1080 x 50 x 14 / 8 = 181440000 = 173 MByte/s
Sorry, doesn't match. Please explain why this could be continuous.

Write speed needed in RAW/MLV:
Vertical pixel * horizontal pixel * bit depth * frame rate / 8 -> Byte/s

Bit depth for Canon RAW is 14 bit. Division by 8 to get bytes instead of bits.

Example
1280 * 720 * 14 * 24 / 8 -> 38707200 Byte/s -> 36.9 MByte/s

Quote from: sven1043 on February 12, 2015, 09:57:59 PMwhere can I find the "trap focus" function? or is this function not integrated in ML for the 700D?

Not there, sorry. My 650D doesn't trap, too and - according to devs - it won't be changed because Canon changed cams behauviour.

Thank you. I'm able to reproduce this error with your settings directory.
Now trying to find out what's happening here.

EDIT: Created bug report.
https://bitbucket.org/hudson/magic-lantern/issue/2202/create-directory-on-recording-doesnt-start
Option "Create directory" doesn't work with 7D and never did.

@smok29: Next time it would be fine to tell that you have altered settings (and which one) after downloading/resetting ML.
#6817
Zip ML\Settings directory, upload it and link it here.

@PanzerMamba: Give h2testw a try, too. It would help to determine your card's actual storage capacity.

Remove battery. Format card inside cardreader. Don't make the card bootable. Insert card, insert battery. Startup.
Report results.
#6821
Please provide proof that you are able to do RAW/MLV with 1728 x 768 in 24 fps continuous with 6D.
#6822
You have made the card bootable, Chantalavaca?

General Chat / Raspberry Pi 2: Blinded by the Light ...
February 09, 2015, 06:45:55 PM
Those among us playing around with Pi 2 may pay attention to a small design flaw. If PCB is hit by flash or laser pointer you will blind your device. Sounds funny and it is.
Raspberry Foundation confirmed the findings of a photog: http://www.raspberrypi.org/xenon-death-flash-a-free-physics-lesson/
And smartphones are not bright enough to be of any concern.

An old saying comes to mind: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wear_Sunscreen

EDIT: Discovering the photo effect earned Einstein the Nobel prize in physics. Onion's findings just earned him a remark in some lame posts. Sic transit gloria mundi!

You may use HD output in 12 fps and blow it up to 4k@24 and be proud to achieve this with a 50D. You can do so. Or else.
But if you ask how to record 4k (true DCI 4k@24) with 5D3 the answer is "No, we don't break the laws of physics and their implementation in hardware here!".
