Some suggestions: ML 5D series part may skyrocket if: 5D3 supported both: boot flag clearing and latest firmware. Just my personal opinion though (I ADMIT) and you have answered that already (at least the boot flag issue).

I cannot understand why you do not leave the older ML versions for people to download. Even an older nightly build is better than nothing for cameras like 7D, 6D etc...

I hope you do NOT mean quitting the WHOLE ML development for that. It would be a PITY!
True not many write code but at least some of us test the builds and report back.

I am sure that your camera will have a nice time  ;D

Mine has been sitting quite alone lately, i've taken just a bunch of test pics and no real photos.
Does that count as bricking? ;)
Only temporarily  :) Plus you can use it as a temporary paperweight  ;D

Should be back in next nightly.

And... it is  :)

Thank you.

hello, I am using ML with 5D2. Sometime between Jan 11 and Jan 18 the temperature display was messed.
Instead of the temperature in C and F a 3 digit value is displayed like: 144 raw

I have a Canon 5D and 5D Mk III - would love to install it today on my Mark 3, should I, can't afford to replace it... should I try it out on the original first?
Learn a lot before installing it on 5D3. It cannot be uninstalled completely - the implications is that a 2 sec delay is introduced when camera is activated from sleep - that can feel really slow as I saw from my 5D2. In addition you will have to limit your 5D3 to 1.1.3 firmware which is fine if you do not wish to use autofocusing with f/8 lenses (lens + tele converter combinations).

Can at least the last 6D ML version be made available?

Maybe alex had given a link in the past. I do not know. I will search but a link would be welcome...

First, I increase exposure while paying attention not to clip highlights. Then I increase shadows. But 7D is noisier than the 5D2 I experiment with...

the problem is , new lenses is coming or arrived yet. f.e. the 24-70 II , etc. With the 1.1.3 firmware , the 5DIII does not recognize this new lenses , and we cant use any features on the cam like "automatic vignetting correction", Chromatic aberration correction, etc, etc. That´s a big problem...but...
The corrections apply to jpegs only, not to raw files. You can apply similar corrections to the raw files using the updated (with Canon lens profiles) Canon DPP or Adobe ACR software. Even more: Information about "automatic vignetting correction" (= peripheral illumination correction per Canon terminology) information is not stored in firmware but transferred to Camera with the use of EOS Utility. So all you have to do is to upgrade EOS Utility, connect the camera to PC using USB cable and transfer the profiles you need. There is a limit (20,30,40 profiles, something like that I do not remember the exact number). This way peripheral illumination correction is available for jpegs straight from the camera even with older firmware.

@stephan.knight:

Relax!

Just format the specific card again and then put on it (again!) a clean ML2.3 (the last year's stable version)

Then you can:

1. Try to Uninstall ML and see if camera returns to normal.

Or

2. Try again to boot ML2.3 and check its behavior.

Then put the card on PC again and copy (WITHOUT deleting the previous files - at least this is what I have done up to now with my 5D2) over then the 5D2 nightly build.

(Make sure that autoexec.bin is overridden by the new one and that there is the modules directory).

If ML remains installed just put the new card at your camera.

Otherwise you will have to install it again. I have not tried the later part because
all these months my 5D2 is constantly upgraded with no issues from ML2.3 up to Nov 20, 2013 just by copying the new files over the older ones.

Don't worry your camera is not damaged and I cannot see how your card can be as well. Let us know.

I believe you need to download and install the alpha first... should be a thread about it or the dev kit on the forum
How about 2 pages back (in the same thread) ?

Thread title and poll are different. So they do have different answers for me:

What camera do you have/plan to buy? 5D2, 5D3 (have),  6D (plan if I sell 5D2)

What camera are you running ML on?  5D2

General Chat / Re: DNG and DxO

So our hopes are either:

1. For cr2hdr to get a denoise function that will get close to DXO Prime results.

2. For a DNG to CR2 converter so as to process the DUAL ISO images with DXO Prime.

Thanks for the information. Well, I'll add my voice to the DxO forum but falling back on my previous theory this seemingly irrational behavior is a policy to block Adobe where they can - DxO saying they can only do lens correction & nr on cr2 but on dng for undefined calibration problems seems to be rather strange given it's the same data.

I hope DxO changes their minds when more people come knocking on their door, the DxO lens correction is nice but with most lenses not a pressing reason to use DxO Pro Optics in addition to LR, the new nr algorithm might generate more interest.
Can someone please explain to me if this is rational. If DXO supported DNG they would have more customers not less! I do not see how they harm Adobe by not supporting DNG. I think they harm themselves as people who want to improve their DNG files they will simply do not bother with DXO!
#66
@alex: your denoising work may prove even more useful than you think even if you reinvent the wheel: Apart from the fact that it removes noise from .DNG files it runs in Windows XP. I tried to setup a DXO Pro 9 demo and I got the message that Windows XP are not supported  >:(

There is also this

https://bitbucket.org/a_d_/magic-lantern/downloads/WIN_cr2hdr_exe.zip

(It contains just the cr2hdr.exe (28/10) so you have to use the other supporting .exes from a previous download like Oct 15)

Very nice. Congratulations  :)

I installed the Nightly Build from the archive called: "magiclantern-v2.3.NEXT.2013Nov06.550D109.zip" on my 550d. Looking at the feature comparison matrix I should be able to use Double ISO, but I don't have the option in the settings. Some ideas what I could have done wrong?
IF under ML\modules directory there is a file named dual_iso.mo check that you have enabled the loading of modules at your camera...

Why would a .CR2 output be preferable over the .DNG?
Because DXO PRIME does not work with .DNG.

So imagine a DUAL ISO converted file to have DXO PRIME noise reduction applied afterwards!
#72
@alex: Don't be hard on yourself regarding denoise. You are doing SUPERB WORK!

Plus, I read that DXO works on .CR2 files not DNG. So if that is the case denoise option is helpful ANYWAY!

NOW, imagine if only cr2hdr could produce a .CR2 as output! That could be processed with DXO PRIME.

OK that is a crazy scenario  ;D

Just a quick question please: The cr2_hdr.exe in the first page is Oct 15. There is the denoise edition and the amazing edge edition. Is there a latest version that combines all? (with the mentioned switches).

In

https://bitbucket.org/a_d_/magic-lantern/downloads

the date is Oct 28. But change log in nightly builds suggests ... Nov 4th.

Of course I can wait for periodic updates, just asking for the place to look for the very latest cr2hdr.exe builds...

Thanks

The good news is that I expect to make heavy use of ML and dual ISO, so I'll try to share some pics.
Have FUN!  :)

@alex: I have used the latest amaze_edge_5 version (downloaded a few minutes ago so it is 100% the latest):
