DUAL ISO concept is awesome indeed. It was THE reason I loaded the latest ML in my camera! However, I was taken aback by the pattern problem I reported (Reply #714). But that is why this is (a great) work in progress. I am also not interested in video but at the same time I respect others who want video too.

Wow! That is a response! In which time zone are you? Or are you working on this 24 x 7 ... just joking  ;D

Here is 3:08AM !

hello,

situation is as follows: the different behavior (EV step higher than 2 being set to 2) appears with the first nightly build version immediately after ML2.3

A parenthesis:

Actually this and some later nightly builds had another issue regarding Advanced Bracketing:
They ignored a possible exposure compensation set by a camera.
For example if camera was set to -1 an additional compensation say -2 set it to -2 and not to -3.

But this is solved in later nightly builds (including the latest).

End of parenthesis:

So can we get a maximum of 5 stops  for Av mode in some next nightly build?

Thanks in advance.

a1ex can't bugfix screenshots  ;)
Very funny!  ;D I asked however if you can read the dropbox link (as a start) because ... I just reactivated and I hadn't use it for sharing links ever!

CR2 will follow in 5 mins...

As a start can you read the uploaded screenshot ?

hello,

I downloaded the latest version for 5D2 (31302bbc6461.zip) and the corresponding cr2 to dng tool.
I see repeatable (non-random) noise patterns at dark areas (that were amplified with the use of Shadows slider (Camera Raw 8.1) in the resultant DNG file.
I have a screenshot at 200% but in "Attachments and other options" I do not see an option to upload a photo. I'll try dropbox (if I still have an account...)

I agree. I have not used my 5D2 and 5D3 cameras that way but I have taken many long exposure shots and I have used long exposure noise reduction most of the time. There are some hot pixels when turned off (even at low iso settings).

The only way out of both situations is - probably - to get a dark frame (cap on, camera on manual, same number of seconds at the same iso) and subtract it in post. The downsides:
1. You will have to do it for each frame!
2. Since camera's temperature may change with usage maybe the dark frame will not be adequate for all shots.

Sorry the above methods are in theory because although I have used long exposures at night I have not combined them with timelapses. I suggest you first try without dark frames at all (just do what the previous poster suggested).

Thanks for your time. I will do a binary search (OK download) and I think I will reduce the number of download/tests to 9 or 10.

I will do it this weekend. Thanks again.

ML 2.3 works FINE on that matter. It is the increase of maximum step from +- 2 EV to +- 5EV  which made it really useful (in addition to the number of frames of course). ML 2.3 bracketing was very trustworthy.

Advanced bracketing should be used in M only.
Why?

ML 2.3 bracketing works fine in ALL modes! It's a bug.

Canon 5D2.

Late night release from 31302bbc6461.zip (Aug 16).

I used Advanced Bracketing. If camera is set to Av (this is the mode I checked) steps greater than 2 EV are ignored.

-2, -2.5, -3, -3.5, -4, -4.5 and -5 result a -2 EV compensation.   :-(
Manual seemed to work OK. Steps less than 2 worked OK in Av mode.

I am new to this forum (although  I was a contributor 1.5 year ago).

I am not sure if this is the correct thread as this is not exactly a "normal" nightly build (it contains the DUAL_ISO and other modules) so apologies in advance.
EDIT: In the meantime I loaded nightly build Aug 21 and I verified that it has the same bug.
