Raw Video / why is 60fps squeezed?
June 16, 2013, 12:17:46 PM
hi,

today i played around with 60fps and my canon 5d mk3.
i wonder why all my material no matter what aspect ratio i choose is squeezed?
is it possible to record it unsqueezed with 60fps (or better say 59,94fps)

thx. sw

so i think we need a bmcc film profile for the canon raw files :)
#503
ok,
the problem is not, that i don´t know resolve.

i just wanted to know if there is a workflow or possibility in after effect to set up the raw cinemadng video to look like the black magic camera film color space.
thats all i wanna know. because then grading would be much easier.
thx

this is a shot from a video test which is graded with a kodak lut, but before i had to make the pic extremly flat, like the bmcc film color space and i have done no more grading, just applied the lut here :)

hello,
just tried it, thank you. but it works not for me.

but what i mean is that flat pic look.
not a colored look.

i have tried free kodak luts from here:
http://www.bmcuser.com/showthread.php?2503-Kodak-and-Fujifilm-Emulation-LUTs

and all i can say is whow.. muuucchhh better with my shots.
but i just try to emulate that black magic cinema film look. (Flat picture) in adobe camera raw before i apply the look

hello,
when i try to emulate the raw files to look like the cinemadng files from the bmcc with color space bmd film (in resolve) they look really flat.. (i have achieved that with nearly no contrast.. )
is there a special procedure to do so?
i have seen some really great luts for the bmcc and it would be great to apply them on my canon raw material.
thx.

today i shot with raw..  :)
so cool

here is a screenshot
#508
Hello! How do you make it? Thx
#509
Check the blackmagic cinema tutorial. ;)
It is called raw cinemaDng workflow
#511
Ah ok. I have it now. Thx
#512
I have adjusted that button config. When i change the iso, the camera also changes the shutter automatically. What am i doing wrong? I am in manual mode.
#513
Thats great. Will try that. Thx
#514
Ah thx for the tip.
Is this possible with the 5dmk3?
Cause the mk2 has up down left right and the mk3 has a scroll wheel. Thx
#515
hello,

i have now great results when shooting photos with ettr and thanks to the raw histo and ettr hint. i always have an eye on this when shooting raw.
the automatic adjustment when press 2x half shutter is great and a real time saver in photo mode. but when shooting raw video it always breaks my 180° shutter rule..

is it possible to optimize that for video? (with the 180degree shutter speed rule..?
does that make sense?

so when i shoot raw, with a manual lens (aperture for dof and my fixed shutter speed (1/48sec)) then there is only the ISO setting which can be changed for setting up exposure.

so what i think would be a great time saver, press 2xhalfshutter for adjusting the exposure automatically with the iso
i know that this can be done easily when changing iso, but it would be a much faster one button solution.

thx sw

Hello,

i know that there is no need for a profile when shooting raw, but there must be some specs cause the blackmagic cinema camera raw material looks really quite different.

wouldn´t it be useful to simulate that "flat raw picture style".. ?
have seen some really great material from the bmcc and there are some luts in resolve for getting great color and great contrast with a lot of detail..

greets.
#517
i would be interested in this too..
is there any progress with the recent builds?

thx.
#518
Great. So if its possible we need a mac version.
Thx
#519
hi renato.
have checked the link but only find the description for windows.
for mac i can not find anything for preview..
thx.
#520
Is it possible to preview the generated Dng files in the finder of Mac Os 10.8?

I can only see a black window..

Thx sw
#521
Hi alex.

When i compare (in the upper left corner between the windows) the raw photo and the raw dng i can identify vertical lines in the dng. When you are ok with that i am too, but i can see them..
Greets and thx you so much for your time and effort.

#522
ok, i´m back home, made a comparison folder in my dropbox.
here is the link.

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/bua4hwbm8w1i47f/Db01mXRpH4/Test_31_MAY_5D_Mk3/Comparison%201

i have included all files, a raw photo file, the dng files (mac and pc) i made a screenshot out of the adobe camera raw program..
please tell me if you need more additional infos and files.

(the original raw file is also in the folder but needs some time to upload.)

thx.
#523
Hi alex!

I will, when i am back home again ;)
#524
hello guys.

today i have compared dngs from osx 0.10 and the newest raw2dng windows version (why? because of the vertical lines problem)
and i dont know if i am right but it seems to be there in both versions but they are a little bit smaller now? (call my crazy but i can see them.)

i have build 31_May
made a reset with canon settings

so what else can i do to eliminate this vertical noise problem?
what have you guys who fixed it done to fix it?

thx.
#525
yes, great. thank you. but it is pc only.
mac version 0.10 has the vertical noise problem. so we have to wait for .011 on the mac.
greets.
