I have to buy a new card and will be prepared for raw  8)
what is the fastest write Speed for the 7D?, which card is working fast in 7D?
#27
a Sandisk's 60MB/s would be fine for 1280x720 (or slightly bigger) raw on 7D which would give better flexibility for WB and more dynamic than the 7D Video has.
and maybe more visible resolution in comparison when upscaled to 1080p

3. This is canon firmware default behavior. (Without ML)  If you leave the preview at zoomed out at grid icons, if you go back to preview, it will show the preview at the last grid-zoom position.

yes of course, but I didn't enter grid view before, may be a Problem with quickzoom.

btw:

4. Quickzoom can't jump to AF-Point ( and yes, it can be displayed by canon firmware )

1. This is normal. You have to enable cropmarks or there won't be any cropmarks at all, even at default 16x9. I think this is enabled by default though, so you must've turned off the cropmarks at some point to cause the feet cropping issue you had.

2. Are you sure you have overlays turned on?

3. This is canon behavior. You have to zoom to default zoom and press info until you get the desired display

1. no I renamed MAGIC.CFG  to check ->  Cropmarks are OFF by default

2. yes, they are shown by pressing the picturestyle button after startup, shooting and reviewing some time they are not shown any more , reloading ML helps

3. again no, I never had this without ML in 2 years

I found some bugs:

1. with default settings, the 16:9 Ratio is not masked out in video mode
( therefore I cut some feet at the first shooting :) )
using the 16x9_blk cropmark.bmp now works, but the mark is shown in photoreplay (with overlays) too, although I switched that off in the settings

but
2. overlays in photoreplay are not shown reliable, usually they are not shown anymore after same time, (only?) reloading ML helps

3. replay often starts in the 2x2 or 3x3 images grid instead of showing single-image as usually.

my experienced bug with alpha1, that the AF with the outer Focuspoints refused to work, didn't happen anymore  :)

which settings changed?
#32
öhm, sorry, I mixed up the topics, of course in M this makes no sense,
but in A or T this would be fine...
#33
looking at focal length would be fine too.
#34
200 is minimum ISO with highlight tone priority activated, otherwise 100.
min=max=400 with flash,
max=1600 (not adjustable) in P-mode with attached speedlite in bouncing position
#35
7D has only MAX-Limit, (with latest firmware)
No Canon DSLR has auto ISO with flash.

Quote from: xmd5a on December 24, 2012, 09:50:34 PMif I have many cards with different speeds I have to change video settings.

Settings are save on the card, so you can optimize it once for each card.
its a feature now ;D

where should we post bugs?

General Help Q&A / Re: Automatic iso in 600d

but flash with ISO 1600 saves much more energy :-)
ML auto ISO can not regard focal length...

but he loaded a different SD card without luck...

Feature Requests / Re: raw histogramm
December 18, 2012, 05:21:18 PM
I don't favor ETTR. I exposure more or less to my subject,
but I take care that important highlights are not (to much) blown out (in raw)
A raw histogram would be helpful to check...

Feature Requests / raw histogramm
December 18, 2012, 11:20:00 AM
Do you have access to the raw picture, and can calculate a histogram based on it?
This would be great to see the potential of raw-develop in highlights.

I dont know what the current nightly Version does, but with the 7D Bitratemonster are 2-3 issues:

1. focal length is not taken into calculation
2. when camera shuts down, the last ISO is chosen after powering up again (7d doesn't yet load ML at startup)
  (not easy to fix...)
3. smaller steps for the setting would be fine, because e.g. choosing 1/125 often 1/200 is taken

thanks a lot so far!

I think such small, known issues are not a Problem for a new alpha, please release it  ::)

how can I switch Audio recording of ?
#44
ok, I have it:

defaults are:
auto.iso.tv.av = 3
auto.iso.av.tv = 3

.choices = (const char *[]) {"f/1.0", "f/1.4", "f/2.0", "f/2.8", "f/4.0", "f/5.6", "f/8", "f/11", "f/16", "f/22"},
.choices = (const char *[]) {"1/15", "1/30", "1/60", "1/125", "1/250", "1/500", "1/1000", "1/2000", "1/4000"},

Its like X-Mas !!!!!   ;D ;D ;D

#45
great, it works on my 7D  ;D ;D ;D ;D (with the "bitrate Monster branch")
can I change the behavior for the minimum shutter speed?, menu isnt accessible there
(and OT: how can I disable Audio for movie there?)
#46
thanks!, but I can't test it on my 7D ...  ;)

I had this two times! (in good light-conditions)
After first restart AF worked for 2 or 3 pictured than failed again, center AF-Point worked, after restart it works with and without ML...

yesterday again the same failure, after about 500 pics without ML,
I tried started ML and after some shots the AF of the outer points refused to work
Lens is a EF-s 17-55/2.8.
can I do some tests or logging for you when this happens again?

I noticed a problem when using ML: when I tried to focus normally (not using LiveView) using a focus point other than the middle focus point, the camera could not lock the focus. When I turned off the camera (so ML was deactivated) and tried again, focus was working fine.

I have not tried this again, so it could be a one-time problem, but maybe someone else can try to reproduce?

not more than setting the same exposure-values manually, dooing so this has never been a Problem in my pictures
But running arround at an event end repeating to change the ISO is a work which should be done by a computer  ;D
#50
of course CHDK is different, therefore I ask you  :)

one trick done by ML could be:

in Av,Tv, or M:

disable flash firing
let camera calculate ISO
read out and switch to this ISO
enable flash firing
let camera fire

but even if possible there may be a delay...
