Hi there,
I like to use dottune AF to micro adjust my lenses and lately with the newest builds I am facing the issue where when I use dottune AF with the suggested chart I get an issue where the the tests shows all white bars from -40 to 40. It doesn't seem like it's working when all the points are spot on

Note that this is with SOME lenses... does that mean that lens was perfect? No way right? How do I fix this?

Hi, I've been testing this... from my understanding...

THIS - Aims for fastest shutter possible by going to the lowest aperture and highest iso set. More for street/event photography.
AETTR - Aims for lowest noise possible by exposing for the brightest highlights, aims for lowest iso. More for landscape?

Sorry I am fairly new to auto expo.

Can anyone give me advice on how to do it efficiently on a weaker computer? This is because I am travelling, and my desktop is at home.

2.9GHz Core i7-3520M 2 core 4 threads
Intel HD Graphics 4000
8GB Ram

I know with ML I can get change the bitrate of h264, but how do I do it to achieve the highest quality h264?
My CF card speed is Lexar 1000x 32GB.

What shutter speed would you recommended for SHARP shooting? I feel the same way about the 180 rule as well...

I don't know, some of the AVCHD shots were better, to take advantage of RAW you need to color grade properly, which means more time in post.

Excelent Work! Better than any Canon Manual!

I thinks the FPS Override is not clear - as always here in the forum. (Sorry)
Like ETTR or the post processing of DUAL ISO - work in ACR one frame, apply the same to the other, with out flickering.
Export to Pro Res, wich Pro Res.

I'm not sure of this, but I think the major people here - and in video - are working on Mac or going to work on Mac - or Hackintosh. I'm not sure. Some software like ACR is the same for both, but not DaVinci or Final Cut X as you know.

Very good work! Very clean and optimist!
I'm on PC.

Hey, nice video. For bigger con events, I think quantity of footage > quality of footage though. I'm shooting a huge con soon and was thinking of RAW and don't know if it's honestly worth it...

Thanks for the explanation!  :) Will go test it out in abnormal situations.

I can't tell the difference between this and HDR from the photos POV, not the technical aspect POV. Anyone mind telling me?  :D

Been using ETTR for a few days... do not use for portraits if your background is bright like the sky/sunny... ETTR will try to expose for sky/highlights and your portrait will be recoverable but the result is horrible.

Hope the update comes out soon  :)

Nice shots! Is it me or does it seem these "merged" shots seem kinda unrealistic? Or is it because we have rarely seen this. Looks like HDR. What's the difference?

Is there any portable LED light that does this? I will be using it attached to the hotshoe of my DSLR.

How many images did it take to make this? A video would be awesome.

My god, a wonderful and beautiful guide. I learned some new things! Cannot wait to see the workflow section. BTW do you what the numbers mean on the histogram? Like 0.6, -0.8, etc. I know it's for ETTR but I don't know what I'm supposed to do with those numbers. :(

I'd love to hear your suggestion on proxies/XML/most optimal workflow.

He uses FCP, but the XML technique can be applied to Adobe the same way.

I'm not sure if it'll help but have you tried frame override to 24?

I would love to see updates on this!

I'd go with the 35 1.4 myself. Its not that wide, but the look of that lens is phenomenal. Do also consider Canons latest IS primes. IS can help quite a lot on handheld shots.
I use a Steadicam Merlin so handheld is moot. 35mm 1.4L it is. Thanks guys.

I can confirm that Lexar 1000x can do 1080P at 30FPS (32GB version). If swapping cards out is not a problem for you (I have a small Thinkpad and external) for the field, then go for it.

Just tried this process and it didn't work. Not booting from KB card. Can I manually add "EOS_DEVELOP" and "BOOTDISK" partitions? Are they hidden like EFI?
You don't need to move files at all... just move the magic lantern root from the RAR to your bigger CF card after you installed it and make sure AUTOEXEC.bin is in the bigger card so it can boot. Then EOSCARD it and done.

Hardware and Accessories / Lens for video...

Right now I have a full frame with a 40mm 2.8 STM (my widest lens) for video.

I am looking to buy a WIDER lens for video and photography, but am stuck between:
17-40mm F4
35mm F1.4

Which one should I choose? I know that the wider the lens, the greater the depth of field which is good for videos. But the 35mm is just so good for photography...
